    Terri - you make physical medicines for the body but also, intentionally or not, your videos are medicines for the spirit. There vibe and cadence seem to hit a sort of natural spirit vibration. Thank you.

    Thank you for bringing the ancient art of foraging to the forefront. Perhaps this will cause people to consider the responsibilities we all bear toward taking care of our Mother Earth.

      I hope it does. Once we start foraging we become more concerned about caring for the environment and all the biodiversity we are so lucky to have. xxx

    Terri I think the sudden rise in people having cardio vascular problems may be linked to the mass vaccination programme for covid 19 ……. I’m grateful to Mother Nature for once again providing what is needed. Personally I have relied on her to help me support my immune system without recourse to vaccination. ❤

    We have elderflower and elderberry syrup for kombucha, and elderberry mead. Abundance is everywhere. Mother Earth is taking care of us-her children. You're absolutely right Terry, in nature there is no scarcity at all, it provides us with everything we need for a healthy life. I love foraging all year round, every season has got wonderful gifts. In this period we have also plenty of chestnuts and walnuts (so many neglected trees in my area!). Also plenty of herbs thank to the Autumn rains. Gratitude and contentment are the keys. Thank you for promoting this way of life 🌿💚

    Love the new music (new to my ears)! Give a pet and scratch behind the ears to those cute and playful dogs. Here in Western Wisconsin on the Upper Mississippi we saw the first teasing snowflakes. The gorgeous sugar maples are bright flaming orange and red. Pumpkins and apples are my harvest of choice now. There are mushrooms too of course but I'm not versed in that. Other things I've noticed on nature walks are hazlenuts, walnuts, chestnuts and rose hips of course. It's time to harvest herbs and hang them up to dry! Hugs to all!

    The rosehips have been so abundant round here this year. For the first time I’ve managed to make some rosehip syrup. It’s funny you mentioning the nettles because just this morning I stepped out and kept seeing all these fresh nettle tips and I was struck with the idea that they were telling me something so I have picked a few and have made a tincture. I am also lucky enough to have found what appears to be an abandoned apple orchard. There is still so much abundance out there.

    Another great video. Aren't we lucky, living on a planet where there is so much abundance (well, maybe not for all of us). I live a similar lifestyle to yours. Gathering and growing food and medicine. Right now there is so much abundance in the garden. This growing season started out difficult (weather wise - a very cool and wet May and June) but by now what is growing in the garden is doing very well. It's wonderful how trying out these new recepies gives an instant shot of creativity. And the feeling I get when I look at these beautiful jars of orange goodness, that's just great! Oh, to have a natural hedgerow with blackberries like that is wonderful! You mentioned mushrooms right at the end of the video. This time of year in south central Indiana/US would typically be Maitake mushroom season in older growth forests, but we have had an atypically long term drought. Maitake typically grows at the base of old, dying, or dead oak trees. It is considered prime gourmet for eating, but it also is very good for the body being an adaptogen. I’d be out foraging for that, but sadly, not this year.

Currently I'm picking a lot of plantain and common mallow, which I dry and keep to use for tea - my sister gets a lot of chest infections and the tea is a good expectorant. We were en route here for a bumper crop of blackberries ,then along came weeks of endless heat in the upper 30's,before they ripened and they all desiccated😥but we have good crops of Chestnuts(Marron),elderberries ,hawthorn and rose hips and field mushrooms.The squirrels have taken most of the walnuts (garden)and the hazelnuts from the hedgerows. I think a lot of the shortages are because people have become used to eating foods out of season and imports are down of these foods ,there is plenty of seasonal food available ?

      South east of Ireland, around Kilkenny area? What a shame! You would think your local council knows enough now about bio diversity and habitats! Sorry to hear that. xx

    Great videos! Finding a few ripe rosehips at the moment! A treat from nature whilst walking with dogs😁
    Was wondering what flea and worm treatment you use on your dogs. Would love a herbal alternative.
    I'm growing and using lemon balm,sage, rosemary, lavender and calendula. Your videos are very inspiring. I also foraged a little mugwort in the summer!🤗

      I am not familiar with Bittersweet. Honeysuckle berries are not used these days as they can cause vomiting and diarrhoea and some people regard them as poisonous. xx

    Plants always pop up when I need them. One year I came down with a disease that attacked my lymph nodes and the same day I came home from the the doctor, after telling her I refuse her lifelong steroids, I found cleavers outside my door. They weren’t there before.

    Hi Terri thanks for the awesome video we have an abundance of hawthorn berries this year too as well as loads of hazelnuts! Can I ask if tincture is the best way to use this medicine or can we powder the dried berries as well? I have someone asking me for capsule medicine which I am not familiar with making at all! Love to you and yours

    • @DanusIrishHerbGarden
      @DanusIrishHerbGarden  2 роки тому

      Hi Sascha - you can dry the berries for tea or you could make tincture in alcohol or vinegar. Not necessarily better but would be more powerful. You could powder the berries if you wish. I don't personally like capsules but that is how you would encapsulate the berries, by making a powder. xx love to you too. x

    In a nearby park to me, last year I foraged lots of blackberries, nettle and hawthorn berries, but guess what the council have dug everything up, so no more foraging there. I'll have to drive somewhere to forage now. So angry 😡 !!!

      Our council in its wisdom (who are one of the 100plus councils) who have pledged to get the area to net zero earlier than 2030, so my instincts tell me this is part of it. These people will not realise the foolhardiness of their actions until its too late. Then I expect they'll blame someone else

    I do not see any any comment over here yet, scarcity is real in the grocery store not everybody have the opportunity to forage out in the countryside, or physically do it, I am trying to save everywhere but there is a limit to what you could do for yourself specially if you are limited physically sorry to say that but probably I’m not the only one. Otherwise I do enjoy your videos but I cannot agree with you completely regards from Canada

    • @DanusIrishHerbGarden
      @DanusIrishHerbGarden  2 роки тому +2

      I understand Judit. For us here in Ireland it is less scarcity than talk of it although food prices have gone up. You don't need to go to the countryside as there are lots of wild plants in the cities too. I am suggesting that people go outside with different eyes and really look to seek. Thanks for your comment and I hope all is well with you xx
