Yes, beans and barley....and oats, eaten over the eons by our ancestors, got us all here today. We do well to listen to them more! Happy New Year!
I agree, and I say to people if your grandparents didn't eat or wouldn't be able to recognise it, don't eat it! Have a very Happy New Year Mike. xx
Wonderful stuff thank u
Happy new year to you Terri ❤ We always use January and sometimes February to cleanse and detox our body by juicing, and cutting out all processed foods and simple carbs such as pasta and white rice. It’s amazing how this improves the quality of sleep and as you say mental clarity. I also love this time of year to sit quietly and knit or sew and enjoy the simple joy of a warm fire and mug of tea.
Sitting and knitting is one of my favourite pastimes during the winter evenings. Mug of tea, blazing fire - looking forward to the evening already.😃
Blessings from a Dark Rainy Day Here In England To The Beautiful Emerald Isle 💚🍏💚🥕💚🥒💚
Thanks Sally - hope your days become brighter xxx
I never eat junk foods, neither drink alcohol or smoke, I just don't, maybe because I never shop at supermarkets..I grow most of my food and keep chickens and get my organic meats, cheeses, raw milk from a small organic local farm rin by a wonderful family .here in the mountains where I live in centralEurope, after leaving my countrythe UK over ten years ago... What I do to nursh my nerves and get the vitamin Bs, I eat 3 fresh eggs from my chickens cooked in organic butter with a drizzle of organic honey or a treacle. Bone broth and organ meats too, they saved me, after years of being vegetarian and then a vegan..thank God I'm not oly surviving but thriving, thanks to my animal-based diet. Happy new year to you all.😘💕
Good luck for your good health Sue. You are so lucky to get raw milk and local organic meats xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thank you. Indeed I'm lucky to have access to organic foods, despite having no income or money whatsoever. 😘💕
So enjoy our little Sunday visits! We also juice mostly in summer fresh from our garden.. We do have green smoothies every day for lunch. I put in a variety of greens, sprouts, celery, frozen berries (from our garden), hemp, chia and flax seed and ginger. Sometimes I use coconut yogurt or water (we are dairy free) or aloe vera juice for the liquid. Very yummy!
How nice to be able to pick fresh from your garden year round! Many Blessings!
Many Blessings to you Cynthia! xxx
💙 thank you Terri. 😋
When I am sick, I try & remember what we used as a child to get better. Seems to work, for me, better than the store bought stuff of today.
The drawback is; when I don't feel well, I have a difficult time remembering. 😁
I know - we can't focus when we are sick. Maybe write it all down and then it is there to look at and then you can pass on those old family remedies . xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden 😁 💙
Thank you, Terri. My juicer has been sitting on the 'crocket' being ignored for tooo long. I will now get it back in service to sparkle up me innards! Celestial Blessings. Amanda xx
Enjoy your new regime of juicing Amanda xxx
Looks delicious! I found out recently that I am over 76 % Irish and English and the origin of Ireland is Dublin. From the very start of watching your tutorials, I have so connected with the Celtic beliefs and traditions. And you have taught me so much! I'm so excited and thankful to you. I appreciate you! 🌛🌿💚 I wish you the happiest of New year🌄
And I wish you a very Happy Blessed New Year too. Glad you are making a connection to the Celtic beliefs. xx
Thank you Terri. Whenever I’m have an off day I make myself a cup of herbal tea and listen to you talk. It’s my “reset” button and it works every time. Love your books too❤️
Nice to see you in action. I love juicing and thank you for reminding us to kick off the year with healthy thinking.
You're welcome Theresa - have a great and healthy year! xx
May 2023 be a good year for you and your family. May the sun shine, the birds sing and the Mother be happy through all who care for her. =-)
Thank you so much - what a lovely blessing! xx
This is a wonderful and beneficial tradition that my daughter and I do at the turn of the seasons. And it's so delicious, also.
At times when we have made more than we can consume in a day, we have added vitamin C crystals to slow down the oxidation of the juice, but we usually just make enough for one day. We also add ginger root for a spicy kick!
i like ginger in too, especially in winter time. xx
Happy New Year to All!
Happy New to you too and many Blessings xx
I once heard a nutritionist say that when you grocery shop you should never purchase anything that your grandmother didn't know what the ingredients were. I always found that was a pretty interesting and profound statement. Words to live by?
Absolutely! Totally agree. That way you eat real, whole food and avoid the processed junk😃
This was Jùst what I needed, Danu! How beautiful, comforting, therapeutic and inspiring! Thank you so much. I have so missed seeing your podcasts. Looking forward to making up all of this and then to watching your next video! God bless.
God Bless Tricia - thank you for letting me know it was helpful xxx
Thank you for sharing your veggie drink. I drink tea made with herbs from my garden and will now add some veggies to it. Blessings to you and yours and may 2023 be the best year ever for all of us.
I hope it is only the start of the best years. Love and blessings xx
More stunning photography, thank you . Porridge yes,I'm married to a Scot after all! The juice I will try ,but I'm not sure it's my thing , will probably just stick with vegetables and very occasional fish and poultry 😏
It may not be for everyone, but give it a try! xx Happy New Year Mary. xx (The tea is delicious!!) xx
Beet juice is a fantastic blood cleanser. I use it in my quarterly detox along with many other goodies. Juicing is an amazing way to reset your body and jump off of the rich food diet. Thanks for the video.
I just love beetroot - in any way it comes but especially in juice. xx
Learn with you in 2023 from Brazil. Thank you for share all.
Happy Nw Year Gabriel and best wishes to you xx
How lovely, bestvwishes for the women's gathering 🙏
Thank you Lynne - the gathering was lovely xx
Hello terri, oh my I sent a long comment and somehow lost it,xi shall start ,again, good to see you and those lovely dogs and girls,xx
Thanks for watching Hetty. Happy New Year and best wishes to you xx
I always think when you look at beetroot it shouts back 'I am good for all your major organs' 😂. Happy healthy new year m'dear. ☘💚💞
I think it does - always seems to be smiling too xx😊 Many Happy Returns x
My wee juicing tip.. I love to add ginger root to my juices. Sometimes I buy a case of good peruvian ginger and juice it all at once. Then I make small portions by pouring it into an ice cube tray and pop it in the freezer. Take one out and add hot water and honey, anytime you fancy the best ginger juice tea ever! Thank you so much Danu💕🌊as always! Wishing you and yours a loving and peaceful year ahead ✨️
I do add a bit of ginger as well usually but that is a great tip especially for when you want a warming cup of tea . All the best to you too xx
So inspiring! Reminded me about the benefits...I always have the juice but definitely not enough oats.
In Vermont it's a looooong winter but spring will bring me the cleanest wild foods and diverse herbs imaginable. Lovely to see all the beautiful green of your garden at this time!
Thank you Linda - I think Vermont is so beautiful and glad you will get all those wild foods in spring xx
That´s how we eat porridge too! :) During the overnight soaking I add sourdough or a bit of yogurt to help with fermentation (unlock nutrients) :)
Thanks for the tip I will try that too. xx
Thanks for the reminder to start soaking the grains for this weeks' meals. I may try a horseradish juice as well. Happy new years blessings to all ❤️🌖🌠
Horseradish will be great for sinus issues and digestive issues Be careful with it near your eyes. New Year Blessings to you too xx
Happy New Year to you all!
Many Happy Returns Nadine xx
Happy new year to you. Juicing has been around for years in many treatments for ailments. On hot summer days no one wants to eat but we all love to hydrate with nutrients. What a wonderful easy way to detox. Oats, I see you’ve grown your own in past on your shows , ppl really need to get back to earth for real foods thank you for sharing.
You're welcome Gypsygirl. Happy New Year xx
Another wonderful video!
It feels like having a cup of coffee, with a friend!
Many blessings, to you and yours!
Such a lovely thing to say. Thank you and many blessings to you too dear friend xx
Yummy. Sure wish I could go out in January and pick veg. Hoping all had a wonderful Yule. We welcome back the Sun, the light, the warmth and the escape from darkness.
Already here, we can see the dark retreating😃
Happy new year! I actually prefer to keep and eat the fiber from fruits and veg so throw everything into my Vitamix including orange peels and kale stems. And sometimes oats and beans. Health and joy to all.
Great health to you too Jeanne and much joy for the year xx
Wonderful information and inspiration Terri!!!!🕊🌿
Thank you Barbara, hope your new year is getting off to a good start xx
Thanks as always Teri! Looks delish! 🌟🌀
It was Miranda😀 I like to pour it over muesli too xx
Looks gorgeous! One tip I learned the hard way is to drink it with a straw. Thank you! Xx
You are welcome Samantha xx
another excellent video, nutritious to body and soul, thank you for sharing!

Sláinte! xx
U so sweet thank you for your kindness 💗
And thank you for yours . Best wishes for the new year xx

You video's are always so interesting and I so look forward to them. I must admit since my daughter Daisy went off to Univeristy in October I don't bother making as nutritious food as when she is home but I am determined to work on my self care this year.xx
Do work on your self care - you deserve it! xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thanks, I'll try! xx
Greetings Danu! What a beautiful video, I love to see your chickens and your heavenly farm! At 7:40 your boot/socks are totally wonderful! I knit socks and I'm wondering if you knitted those shown, or bought them? They're beautiful. I shall start juicing again, I stopped when the bitter cold winds killed off my garden in October, and it's been a hellish winter still ~ we have 15" of snow on the ground since before Christmas and the cold is odd. Usually we always have a January thaw, up into the 70's F but so far, no. Take good care of you and yours, and once again, thank you for these just beautiful moments of your life!
I knit socks too - love home made socks but these are my husband's socks that were bought in one of our local shops. Hope you are keeping warm and cosy xx
Whole carrots (shredded) are actually incredible for getting rid of endotoxin and excreted estrogen in the gut! :)
That's great, thanks for sharing. xx
Thank you for sharing ✌️💖🤟✨️🧚♂️
Thank you Terri and Happy New Year 🎉 I hope you had a Wonderful Women’s Christmas 🎄 on January 6th 🎄💕 Thank you for this Beautiful film and for inspiring all of us to eat and drink healthier for the New Year. Today I almost had a “diet soda”, but then decided against it in favor of something healthy. It felt good to not drink that “stuff”. Many Blessings to you always 💕💕💕
Phew! A narrow escape! So glad you resisted it. Those things are full of aspartame which is a neuro toxin. Thanks for your good wishes, we had a lovely get together. Blessings to you xx
What a wonderful garden ✨🫶🏻✨Great tip re the vinegar. I’ll do that from now on as I have no access to a garden.
And look up which veg and fruits are in the Dirty Dozen and always use the vinegar on them xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden will do. Thankyou 🫶🏻
Lovely video 😊 Never knew that about rolled oats or how different juicers work. I have made a pesto out of the green carrot tops and added the beetroot tops to a salad😍 don't like waste 👍 Happy New Year and all the best to you and anyone who reads this 💖
I don't like waste either so glad to hear about the carrot tops. I always put the beetroot tops in salads or give them to the chickens. All the very best to you too Nicola xx😊
Enjoyed this like I enjoy all your other videos. My main resolution is to use up what I have already, whether it's food or other items., before buying new things. I'm trying to also only get what I need instead up buying things willy-nilly. So far, it's been good. I'm spending much less at the farmers market or supermarket because I already have so much in the freezer. (I love going to my farmers market, I'm there just about every week). Right now I am dehydrating peach bits I had in the freezer so I can use them in oatmeal or when making tea. Many blessings to you for an abundant and fruitful year.
That is a great attitude to have and prevents that buying stuff for the sake of it. Best not to go to the shops at all until you really need something. Blessings to you likewise xx
Such a wonderful video. Thank you Danu! I really appreciate all the information you shared.
Thank you Peggy - so glad you enjoyed it xx
Another beautiful and well made video, thank u so much! I’m surprised your chickens are so well behaved around the beds! If I let mine access to the beds they’ll eat all the leaves and scratch all the earth in 5min! 😂 (and they are free range but we had to close the beds cos they love them too much!)
We keep them in their run during the summer when everything is growing and then they roam around from Sept/Oct until I plant out my seedlings. They will eat Chard down to the ground but don't bother they other things. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden super interesting! Thank you! Mine love all the brassicas and carrot leaves and tomato leaves! Little cheeky dinosaurs! 😅💛💛
Love your wonderful sharings Terri. Warmest blessings to you and all, with huge gratitude for showing the way 🙏🙏🙏
You are very kind Jennifer, thank you xx
Excellent advice which I will follow! Love that garden!
Glad it was helpful xxx
😊
I've gotten now that when I hear your music at the beginning of your videos, if I can at all, I have to sit down and watch! The music is so beautiful and peaceful, to go along with everything on each of your videos! I hope I can eventually participate in some of your classes. I know there's a beautiful energy there that's calling to me to be part of 🥰 🙏
Thank you for all you do for us ❤🙏
I am so glad you are enjoying the music, Lol has put a lot of love into the music. I hope you can join in a class one day, you will be very welcome xx
I have one of those type extractors as well. Oftentimes I'll run my pulp through the shoot. I'm surprised how much juice is still in the pulp after the initial run. Thank you for giving me a lot to think about. I love your channel.
Thanks so much Rose Cottage Colleen, very glad to hear that. You are right, sometimes you can put the pulp through again and get more juice. xx
Very informative. Thank you ❤
You're welcome! xx
And a Happy New Year to you Terri!
Thanks Ken, many Happy Returns xx
Happy New Year and a blessed belated Women’s Christmas for last week 🙏🏼
Thank you Cockerlass and Many Happy Returns xx
I absolutely love your channel, you are so delightful✨I came across your channel yesterday cuz I love dandelions & I came across your video on it & I was like omg I love this!!! Now I’m all watching your videos when I have a spare moment, I love them! Sending tons of love to you from Southern California! Xoxo💞✨🏖 ❤️
Your channel is such a delight and your way of life a bit envious to those of us living in the city…or close by…inspirational and healthy living that most of us can only dream about…doing what I can to keep the wolves at bay in my 70 years here and hoping those who know me will be inspired to do the same…best of the new year my friend to you and yours blessings wished and daily health…great camera man as well…
Thanks so much Isabella. I understand how you feel as I lived in a town for just over 30 thirty years. My regular escapes back home, here, kept me going and getting into the local countryside for a Nature fix. Many best wishes to you and yours for great health and happiness, from both of us xx
I don't eat processed food and I bake my own bread
Good for you William. We are the same most of the time. xx
Happy New Year, and thank you so much for all you do to educate and inspire us!
Thank you so much and Happy New Year to you too xx
Im off to the garage to haul out my juicer!
Good for you! xx😂
Great tips. Thank you! I’d love the title of the cookbook you received as a gift. 😊
You're welcome Barbara - the book is called SIMPLE and is by Ottolenghi xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thanks so much!
Juicing is so good. I plan to start back this year as well. Happy New Year!! Take care.
Good idea! Enjoy! Many Happy Returns xx
Never thought to dehydrate them. Great idea!! I use mine also in soups and meatloaf.
Great tips xx
"Pea porridge hot, pea porridge cold, pea porridge in the pot nine days old." Nursery rhyme I grew up with from my mom when I was a wee lass. I think, she used to take my baby hands & clap them together in tempo to the rhyme (?). Not sure.
I remember that - Some like it hot, Some like it cold, Pease porridge in the pot, Nine days old! Clapping games as well.😀👏🍚
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Yeah! That's it. 👏 You remember it better.
How funny that’s the same exact base for my juice and I just add one or two different things( such as dandelion greens) each time I make a batch that way I get a variety but my base is always the same … cheers
Thankyou and may you have a very happy new year.💜
I hope too. Many Happy Returns to you xx
❤🧡💚💜
Happy New Year Hella xx
Thank you for explaining what and why you juice each veg
You are welcome Kim xx
For me new year is April 1st. The original pagan new year and thats when I get excited, always did before I knew we had pagans in the family. I get a huge surge of energy!
😊🌟🌛 xx
Wonderful video
Thanks Jackie xx
Happy new year dear one! What a great video! So much amazing information!! Just ordered the oats and barley lol was using normal oats, but my instincts were telling me that they’re not the most beneficial. I would just say that apparently juicing diminishes the fibre content as the pulp is what breaks down the sugars etc in our gut. Just something to be aware of as fibre is super important for cleansing the body. So, whilst juicing is great, it’s no substitute for whole veg and fruit 🙏❤️lots of love to you and your kin ❤️🙏
I agree that fibre is vital but in a balanced diet of whole grain, whole goods and avoiding all white processed foods, there should be enough fibre. xx Love to you too JoJo, Happy New Year xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden exactly! Just in case people thought it was a substitute. Lots of love xxx
Great information, Terri. I didn't know that about porridge oats, which is something that I'll have to start eating again. I put it off because I'm on a strict medical diet with lots of restrictions. Sugar is one of the culprits, along with honey or any kind of sweetener. I'm so used to doing without that I even make cakes using just flour, eggs, butter, milk and lots of almond flavouring and it's delicious. Anyway, I wasn't sure how porridge will stand up but I do have a new packet in my cupboard so I'll definitely start eating that again. I've no juicer, unfortunately, but it's something to bear in mind. Cheers and a happy new year. :)
Happy New year and Good Health to you xx
That place looks so pretty❤
Oh you will love that Ottolenghi book Simple. I cook his Spiced Cherry Tomato sauce with the ancho chilli very regularly. It's so versatile and ridiculously easy. I replace the pasta with rice or buckwheat noodles or even just as a dip or sauce on other dishes. The ancho chilli is a wonderfully smoky dried chill, with mild heat. I order mine online through a local herb shop. So many wonderful recipes to discover!
i made the Puy Lentil stew with smoked aubergine and it was really good. Looking forward to going through the book. Happy New Year Amanda, Plant Sister xx
Your videos are so inspiring. I've hemmed and hawed over juicers for years... not anymore! ❤ Thank you for the tips!
I strongly recommend juicing - it can help you get over so many health issues and feel more alive xx
Thank you for the inspiration! I have never tried juicing... Only blended smoothies. I was always worried about the waste, but your cracker idea sounds great! I am 55 and have got to pay better attention to my health. And the whole oats... I would love to try them. I eat oats quite frequently but must admit I'm not a fan of the "mushy" texture. Happy New Year and see you next week!
Happy New Year to you. The groat porridge is a whole different thing to the mush, a real meal xx
Happy to see you , wish you an happy new year
Bonne Année Michele, j'espere que tu est tres bien xx
what a great idea, dear Terri...I also do fasting once a year that just feels good......if not ourselfves, who should take care of us?have a great week ,Blessings and Greetings from Daggy,Kiel,Germany☘☘☘I just have my walk early in the morning
Exactly right! A little fast is so beneficial! xx
Excellent video, really loved looking at your juicing, I haven't got a juicer yet, but intend to get one. Xx
Glad you enjoyed the video. Shop around for your juicer. I strongly recommend a masticating juicer. I got mine from Vitality4Life but IrishJuicers have some too xx
Hi Terri and Lol , dogs, love the juice ! Inspiring .. I clicked on lol UA-cam and came up with can’t find site
Happy New Year! Thanks for telling us about Lol's channel, will sort it out. xxx
Mc cann's irish import steel cut oats my favorite with raw chopped almonds dash of butter/maple syrup. Raisins during cook. One of 2 meals a day. You are radient so it is working. Xoxoxo
Sounds delicious - Lol is a big fan of Maple syrup in his porridge xx
Really enjoyed this video...your juice looks delicious. Will be trying to do it myself
Yes my juice is delicious, I sometimes add a bit of ginger too. Enjoy yours. xx
Very inspiring l am going to look for a juicer to try it
Hope you do - once you feel the benefits of juicing you will never go back. xx
I bought my juicer for £10 from FB market place - only been used 3 times so ready to try it now Terri. Thank you for the inspiration and blessings to you and yours 🙏🏾
That does look delicious. Cheers Danu! Happy New Year. Wishing you health, joy and many more delicious days. 💛💜💚
Thank you so much Diana. All the best to you too and hope you have a wonderful year xx
Eat to live but don’t live to eat😉 it looks delicious 👌✨🍀🥕
Thank you so much for another great informative video. It's so refreshing to see someone else enjoy the simple things in life. I love the idea of your porridge. I was wondering where you get your oats from...my main concern is that the oat plants might have been grown in treated soil. Stay well :)
I grow my own oats and this year will be growing hull-less oats which we bought from Fruithill Farm in Cork xx
Learned something new... thank you
Brilliant video :) wld you be able to share some recipes from your new book pls ? Xx
Yes, I am going to do a few more videos on healthy eating so can do that too xx
Great idea to detox innthe new year. Thanks.
Start now and then add in the spring greens when they start to appear and you will revitalise yourself.xx
Whole oats and barley are so satisfying! Happy New Year!
They are and so versatile too xx Happy New Year!
Thanks Terri I enjoy oat meal.will keep all you said .not like certain cereals anymore. Only shredded wheat which I can add Honey.
Beware of all the sugars added to commercial cereals. xx
Just subbed. Wish I had found ur channel earlier, many thanks.
Hi Terri thanks for the lovely video as always! I definitely need a detox I have succumbed to pneumonia! Due to the crisis there are no beds available in any hospitals which I am actually glad of because I do not like being in a hospital at the best of times! Is there anything in particular you would recommend to help with the symptoms apart from respiratory herbs like mullein etc? It has really knocked me for six and none of the preparations I have made or used seem to be able to shake it. Thank you, happy new year and may this cycle bring you joy and light blessings
I like grits 😊
I usual remove the apple seeds even wen I'm juicing I heard scary things abaut apple seeds but u seem very strong...
Apple seeds contain teeny tiny amounts of cyanide - you would need to eat orchards and orchards of apple seeds to be affected. Don't worry about a couple of apple seeds. xx
Blessings to You too Terri, what a lovely video and I really love the Lipstick you are wearing looks like Beetroot which is my fave colour of Vegetable , thanks for the lovely tips , we have one of those Juicers as my Darling likes to make His own Ginger Beer Magical Brew ...love Juices with Carrot Apple Beets, Celery and Ginger ...mmm now I want one hahaha xx from New Zealand Ps I love that Chef's books so colourful which is always a good start with food x
MMmmm! That sounds like the one we make - but we put in Cucumber too. Great colours mean great food and I agree re the book - you can't miss it! xx
Thank You and Joyful year to ye . do ye know off anything that calms i.b.s . zero hassle if not .
IBS is a huge subject and as I know nothing about you I recommend you keep a food diary and note what triggers any issues and then cut out the food for a while. You could also start a very basic and simple diet and then add one food at a time. Be aware of foods that can cause inflammation for some people and avoid what irritates you. IBS is a catch all term so you need to be a detective and work out which foods don't agree with you. Most definitely avoid anything that is processed. Hope that helps. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thanks Danu ..very kind of You for your help...yes have arrived at similar conclusion ..best wishes to ye from Cork !
Lovely as always! And love the idea of dehydrating the pulp. Will have to try that!
Try it - it's very tasty! xx
Thank you, always so interesting 😊jeanne-marie
You have helped change my life ❤..Thank you so much ❤️
Aww, you are too kind. YOU changed your life so take credit. Xxx
I'm going to get my juicer down out of the cupboard and use it again. Not sure why I stopped, because I love it,and usually after I drink a glass my whole body tingles.
