- Bob (Captain Chaos) attempts to start an International 1600 Loadstar grain truck that hasn't been started in 10 years. Okay...it's not a Jaguar XJS. We know that.
Great Video and info on how to resurrect properly a long sitting engine.. I just got a 73 Loadstar 1600 with a 304 and im having problems with it stalling when I make hard turns, that's when crud shows up in the fuel filter. I still love this old International. Im amazed at how many thumbs up and smiles I get when I drive it, mostly from truckers who most likely drove one in their youth
Most people over 40 years old rode in a loadstar to school and back everyday.
My old Chevy was having problems with what seemed like it was the fuel pump, but finally found cracked fuel line at the tank switchover valve
That is a nice truck, and I have thing for Loadstars, so this grabbed my attention right away!
Hope to see it again!
what a great video! so enjoyable to watch somebody that knows what they're doing.
Great video, Bob. I loved seeing this old beast brought back to life. That look at the camera after the safety comment was priceless.
Just started work on my 1977 Loadstar 1700 project. Hadn't started in 15 years and I couldn't believe how easy it started. new plugs, fresh gas and it was good to go.
It's pretty amazing how they tolerate neglect. The brakes, on the other hand.....
Hilarious, especially the fuel tank "safety" zip tie.
You can't be too careful.
I remember tossing a charged condenser to my friends as a young mechanic. The original stun gun. Haven't seen points in years
Just traded an old motorcycle for 2 of these monsters. Thanks for the video, the points look easy enough to get to
Yup, right out in the open. Good luck with your project(s).
Hey man this truck is really cool we have one just like it and it's sitting in our machine shed and doesn't run and we are going to fix it up
Please keep making videos working on old machinery. It will expand your market 100X.
Great truck!
Every time Bob fed that carb it was like feeding a baby 🍼. Made me laugh.
Safety first! Haha love the improvisation!
Great vid on how to coax an engine back to life...very logical and efficient.
Definitely sounds like a collapsed lifter so if they can be sorted maybe just a change of Poland filter with some Seafoam might get you out of trouble?
I started it up again this spring and there is a definite bottom end issue. Hopefully pull it out this fall and overhaul it over the winter.
Thanks Bob! I'm working on a 74 IH model 200 with a 345 right now, your video has been a great help.
Glad I could help. I plan to pull the engine and overhaul it this winter so stay tuned.
Bob, I had several International trucks back in the day. If you need to replace lifter(s) just remover the valve cover and the rocker shaft. The heads are made with push rod holes big enough that with a special tool you can remove and replace lifters without removing the head
Thanks for the info. I started it again recently and on further inspection the noise is coming from somewhere below the heads. It's going to have to come out I'm afraid.
Really good video, thank you. I just picked up one of these and yes hasn't been running for 10 years. its on propane. There's no propane station around so Ill be converting it back to gas. Ill be having the wife do what you have done here excluding the fuel part., while I work on another machine as its part and parcel of the trade for the lone star. My Mechanic labor for the big international 1600 lone star dump truck. I'm still trying to figure out the year. I haven't received the paper work on it. Ill try and get a video to show you our big brute. Ill look on your chanel for more on this truck. Very cool!
If I have the time this year I'll pull the engine and overhaul it this winter. Geez.....already planning winter projects.
I just started working to get a 75 1600 loadstar dump truck running after sitting for 15+ years. If I get it running my neighbor will give it to me. Your video was helpful. I can’t get the engine to spin freely so I will be oiling each cylinder next.
I have the same truck, same fuel line problem.
I'm about to buy a 68 international loadstar. Anything I should look out for or be aware of? It was well maintained
I know it has like a 549 or something ridiculous for an engine
@@patrickvanhoesen9425 To be honest, this is the only IH truck I've ever owned and can't really tell you much other than do a compression check, get at least 45 psi oil pressure, and make sure the lift works. They can be expensive to fix. Regular old vehicle stuff. Good luck.
Great video, I’m surprised you don’t have more views/subscribers.
Last year it was all about establishing the channel and cast of "characters". This year is all about learning how this youtube thing works.
