Yup I agree, it would make a great recovery truck.

Man, that truck is in crazy good shape considering. I'm from New Jersey and that truck would've long rusted into a pile of metal flakes 35 years ago.

Hi Jason. Found your channel though Zane over at HPDG. Being a California truck it looks really nice, and has a cool story behind it. Plus it sounds like you got a really good deal on it (can’t beat free🤣!). As you know salt does a number on those old trucks, and I’m glad to see rust hasn’t gotten the best of it. You’ve got a great channel man just subscribed👍.

I drove many of those as a forestry worker. The 2spd axle was almost a necessity as the engine has a pretty narrow power curve. My Cargostar fire engine had a 392 and had to be kept between 2500 and 3200rpms. It had a lot of miles on it. It had a 5spd and 2 spd axle and to get to 30mph I had to shift 7 times. I think the fiberglass hood came in about 1975.

I would build a mobile cabin on that trailer bed- it would be adorable

Nice old truck. I remember when all the farms hauled grain with these.
I suspect that Shane's truck being the cobble of parts it is has a school bus rear end in it. The length of the frame suggests a dump truck. I may be wrong and I have been before but those are the thoughts that come to mind.
Thanks for the video of an old survivor that has a family back story!

Nice shape for near 60 years old. There is an old international like this with a water tank on it in southern oregon for sale.

I think it has vacuum boost brakes. The booster is under the cab, if I can recall the one I owned

Interesting that one fender has marker light, one doesn't. Parts truck doesn't. Get it running!
