FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. It is in the province of Foggia in the Puglia region of southeast Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina enjoys making food for her family in the same old fashion ways as she was taught by her mother and grandmother in Italy, and also new things she has subsequently learned from family and friends in America. She also enjoys gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera and behind the scenes?
Grandma Gina’s retired son-in-law, Nick, does the filming, editing, production, and channel management. Her daughter, Maria, helps with food preparation, kitchen setup and fan support. Also, Grandma Gina usually has one or two grand-kids in the kitchen to help.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!
Nonna Gina, you have no idea what a blessing you are to all the children and grandchildren around the world born of Italian parents who have passed. We love you ❤️ 🇦🇺
Yes ❤️
Grandma Gina, you have no idea what a blessing and joy you are! My mama would have been 85 years old today and her pastina was one of my most favorite and special comfort meals she made for me. Watching you make pastina was very much like getting a hug from her. I could feel all the love you put in there 💖 Thank You!
"It looka nice!" ;p
Smoke-a one then make-A the Pastina! ;)
I so remember my mom or Aunts making this Pastina, for my sister and me, when we were small..I then made this the same way for my son Sean. I always keep a couple of boxes and some Broth on hand when I feel like eating a little something when it's cold outside. I love your videos and your family memories, reminds me of my family memories. Bless you and your family always.
Watching this video brought an ocean of tears to my eyes, remembering when I was a little girl and how my mother would make pastina for me when I was sick. She made it the same ways as in Gina did in this video. I also remember my mother feeding pastina to my younger brother and sister when they were babies. As an adult, I cooked pastina for my own family.
My mother passed away when I was still a child, but I still miss her so much. Coincidentally, this week would have been her 96th birthday.
Sounds like you had a great mom. I lost mine when I was 16. You never get over it.
Gina I love you. You bring me so much joy watching you cook and sing. I have made several of your meals and enjoyed them so much.
But no one could work bread dough the way you do! Keep cooking for us you are a treasure. I'm 72 and learned so much from you😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️

There were tears here too. My grandmother made “pasteen” for us all the time, whether we were sick, it was cold or just because we wanted it. She has been gone for 27 years, and Gina’s videos make me miss her like crazy.
Nonnie always let me pick out the pastina shape… so it was always ‘lil stars’ to me. You women make the world worth being in.
The Italian food equivalent of a long hug from your grandmother.
Pasta is life. Long live spaghetti
When we had snow days, and stayed home from school, my mom would make us oatmeal for breakfast, get us dressed, and throw us out in the snow til lunch. She would make this when we came in from a morning of snow fort building snow ball fights, nothing and I mean nothing warmed you to your bones like a bowl of this love!❤️❤️❤️ Campbell wishes! This is a bowl of my childhood 🥰 thanks Nonna!
I wish I had a grandma like you very good cook love you Regina
Idyllic ❤
Lovely I'm definitely gonna make this 🥰
Hello friend nice meeting you here, how are you doing?
What country are you originally from.
My Great Grandfather Antonio Proto came over from Vieste in Foggia/Puglia. Many of the foods Gina prepares remind me of my Grandmothers cooking. God Bless!
You just make me smile... Today is a very sad day in Canada.. But you my love.. Make me smile and I am so very grateful for your time
Here comes Nonna Gina, cooking up something simple and delicious, made with love and making today's TV chefs look like rank amateurs.
We love you Gina! 100 years!
Whenever we were home from school sick, mom would make pastina. Oh, how I miss her and her pastina!
We grew up eating pastina, from first foods, to soups, and even made into a pudding (flavored and seasoned like rice pudding).
I missed you, dearest lady! I see you and it makes me smile. You’re a gift to the world, and are very loved by many, many, many people 🥰
I'm 61 years old and still eat pastina. My grandmother, mother and I made it for the kids. Good memories.
Dearest Gina, how wonderful to see you again. This is a simple yet delicious soup. I will definitely be making this very soon. God bless you!! You look so beautiful and there are no words to tell you how over-joyed I am to see you!! Sending prayers and love from Rhode Island,
My Italian grandparents came to Rhode Island, too. :-)
This reminds me of my Great Grandma Nona back in the early 70’s that would make me Pastina when I would visit. You remind me of her Gina. AHleleuWYaH! Blessings! Thank you! Great memories. Pastina is sooooo delicious. Even plain with salt and a little butter is soooooooo comforting.
Our family always had a laugh when feeding pastina to a baby, and the baby sneezed. Pastina everywhere!♥️♥️
I laughed out loud and it was not pretty! 😁
Try spinach...greatings from Germany.
loool!
Another reason why I never had kids. ;p

Hello friend nice meeting you here, how are you doing?
My Mama made pastina when we were sick. She still makes it for us...I'm 65! Grazie, Nonna Gina!
Brings up so much memory….. in a cold rainy evenings and when Nona is doing her laundry by hand all day in winter’s day she will cook this for all of us kids ….. there wasn’t enough parmigiano for all of us…. She just used to put the rinds in the pot …
Grandma Gina, my favorite is with chicken broth. We had this on hand all winter, better than medicine. We would feed our babies pastine with just egg, they loved it. What a refreshing memory, thank you, You are the best. God Bless You, wish you many healthy years. Love you.
Why is this lady not on TV and a huge star? She is so very amazing! So compassionate. Just a tremendous person. I strive to a be good and decent person as ms Gina! An American treasure!
Indeed, Nonna Gina is a treasure, una Italiana Americana tresore. xxxxx
I agree 💯
Dear Gina, I miss you much 😘, that pastina is great, fantástico 👍👍👍, God bless you Gina 🙏
This was my favorite when I was sick as a kid. Thanks for bringing up such a wonderful memory of my loving Mom.
My mother would make this for all us. A family of 4 children pastina was numero 1 for us specially in winter time going back in late 1950's to early 1960s. There was no heat or hot water hard times many parts of Italy. Children looked forward pastina was considered a special meal. Thank you signora Gina for bring up the memories. God Bless You and your family always. 🙏🏻🇮🇹🇺🇸❤️🙏🏻
We had no heat or hot water when I was growing up in the late 40s in America. My mom had to heat water on the stove for us to take a bath in a round galvanized container in the kitchen. Our stove was heated with coal. But many times, I wish I could go back to those days and relive them.
Purchased your cookbook and love the recipes. Well done. Book should be in every kitchen.
Pastina is the Italian penicillin !!
Thank you Gina… we love you 😘 🇮🇹❤️🙏🏻
When I was sick as a kid, it was always pastina. Nothing more comforting. Sending love to Grandma Gina!
Hi Gina! On this rainy cold day here in New York I'm making this for our dinner tonight with a big loaf of Italian bread!! Perfectly

i miss your songs Gina. You always bring a smile to my face and heart. I love love love to hear you reminisce about growing up in Italy. Keep teaching us.
I grew up in an Italian family home. I recently I had my colon removed and the one thing that I can eat is Pastina. Couldn’t find it in any stores but when I do I buy a few boxes! Thank you so much for your videos. My grandmother and my mother would make this for me when I needed some love and comfort! Thank you Gina… you are my comfort . I love you ❣️
Hope you're doing better. Where are you buying your pastina and what brand is it? Thanks in advance.

I’m not Italian, but my best friend was growing up. I remember her nonna making us pastina! We drifted apart, but I made this for my babies. So good. Love you nonna Gina!
How sweet it this?
Hello Grandma Gina 👋🏼. Rainy and chilly in Washington state…this soup will be perfect to make this week. I tune in to hear your sweet voice. You are all that is good in the world Gina ♥️♥️♥️
Pastina was one of the first things we ate as babies when we started eating food. Mom would add a little butter and cheese. Then we made it for our own babies. I just brought pastina over to my first grandchild.
Thank you Gina 💖 Such good memories!
I believe that you’re NEVER too old to eat pastina! 😍🙏🏼
Absolutely! I always loved it as a child and I still do!
I remember during the years that I lived in Italy, I used to feed this pastina to little kids in our family. Every time they sneezed, some of the tiny patina would come out of their noses! LOL - so cute!
Beautiful Gina....thank you for another recipe full of your special love.
When I was young my mother raised us on pastina but with butter and milk and a little salt. I still love it and make it for my grandchildren but I am definitely going to make this Thank you Grandma
My mom also added an egg to the milk, butter n salt. Delish!
Me too
This is the way that I prepare it for my kids. I personally, loved it with sauce!

Yay, I’ve missed you!!! I love pastina and it’s time to feed the babies 👦🏼👶🏼👶🏻👧🏼💗 this recipe!
Pastina is warm memories for me. My mom made it for me, I made it for my daughter and now I make it for my grandsons. When my mom was hospitalized and near the end of her life I would often bring her pastina and it was a bright moment for her and she enjoyed it so much. Thank you for the pleasant memories.
So happy to see you Gina. You look beautiful as usual and brought a delicious recipe. Thank you and God bless you Gina.

I ❤️ Gina! She reminds me so much of my Nani Tina. Same accent, same look, same cooking skills. Thank you for posting these videos. Gina is a jewel. 💎 ❤️
I had a Nani too. Many people have a Noni/Nonna which is more common.
@@myradioon I agree. My Nani was 100% Italian, but I just called her Nani from a very young age and it stuck.

I am very Italian, was "raised" in an Italian household. My Fathers' sisters would come over and make different foods. Every dish has a story to it and every meal creates a remembrance of these stories which were always interesting, even for a hyper kid like me.
@@BrianCarnevaleB26 you have some amazing family memories, Brian!😊
Just like Mom made for me when I was young, and Grandma made for her when she was young! Well, that takes us back nearly 100 years now. Those little stars are everyone's favorite first pasta dish.😋
The ultimate comfort food. I happened to have made some for breakfast a couple of days ago, perfect start to a cold day. I grew up on this; my kids did, too 😁
My Nonni used to make me pastina when I was a child, thank you for the lovely reminder of her.

I just love you and your channel. Your children and the babies in your familia are just sooo fortunate to have you as the matriarch! I know you have and are still teaching them many things...and now you have expanded and included us in your teachings? I mean teachings. Learned about baby food tonight and am excited to make this soup! What wonderful energy you exude! Just DARLING. Thanks to your children who took the time to share you with the world.
OMG NONNA GINA! Adesso tengo la voglia per la pastina! It’s been years since I had pastina! My nonna Made it for us all the time, when she put the egg in, it was fancy! All our babies ate la pastina from the day they came home from the hospital! Today they don’t feed the poor babies for a year! And we are all still here to talk about it! I’ve learned to make sure I have a tissue ready before I watch your videos, because it never fails that I cry. Not because I’m sad, but because you bring back the best memories! I just wish we didn’t have to wait so long in between videos. I’m sure all your fans are like me, and they wish they could have a video from you every day! 😘❤️
Thank you, Grandma Gina! I love your videos!! It's a joy to watch you fixing your wonderful food! God bless you!

OMGosh! We always say pasting is the best ever. It is like nature's cure all. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Gina, this may be a ‘fast’ and ‘easy’ recipe - but it’s HOME MADE! And that means it will taste better than anything bought in the supermarket. Always. Bless you for ALWAYS making your family home made, nourishing food. X

Ma do ! E carissimo l’America !
No judging, my grandma Nona would give my baby the heal of the French bread to naw on for teething, when she wasn’t rubbing whiskey on his gums. He loved the bread, and yes I hovered to make sure no chunks or pieces broke off. He loved her pastina. And when he was older, a spill of wine with 7-up in his drinking glass. Bless her and miss her💗💗💗
Same thing as Portuguese culture we had home made port wine to pour on our soups at the table (any age) I sure miss those days!!! Shalom 🕊💖✨👑💛✨
My grandmother did the same. I survived too lol When i think of all the insane things parents these day subject their kids to. Its seems like what they did was nothing. And they were basing on actual results.
My family are Greek and also had these lovely traditions amazing memories of family meal times with our tiny cups of wine and special loving dinners made for just the babies x god bless the grandmothers x
Lol, I once walked into my parent’s kitchen and found my 3 month old baby in my dad’s arms sitting on the table chewing the heal of the bread, too. I was a little taken aback but they assured me this was how babies started to eat in Italy. I snapped a picture. Dad is long gone but that photo makes me smile. Thanks for recalling that memory :)
