Laura I can’t thank you enough for this recipe. My two-year-old won’t even look at a vegetable, let alone eat it. She is obsessed with pastina and I usually make it with chicken broth. The sodium was concerning to me, so I gave this recipe a shot. SHE IS ON HER SECOND BOWL!!!! This is the most vegetables she’s eaten in months!!! You are the BEST!!!
Whenever we would stop by my grandmothers house, she would ALWAYS ask “Are you hungry?” If we said “Nope!” out would come this soup... and we always ate it! I guess for her (and us) this wasn’t feeding us - but hugging us.
Just made this for the first time this season. Make it every year since you posted this video. It hit the spot and made me feel so much better. I only want to eat your pastina recipe! Thanks as always Laura for sharing your food and your family history. Always made with love
A M A Z I N G ! ! ! Favor bursting throughout. As soon as you posted this I knew I had to make it. No pasta needed. I used a blender. Drank it in a mug, D E L I C I O U S ! Thanks Laura xo
Yes Laura....what wonderful childhood memories!!!🥰🥰🥰 I still makes this to this day and it reminds me of my grandma...we serve it with salad and crusty Italian bread! Bravo Laura...Be safe, be well✌️✌️🤗🤗
Oh my goodness. I just finished making this recipe and it was AMAZING!!! Thank you so much. Great comfort food for cold weather and super healthy. I absolutely love this.
Can’t wait to make this! I want to get one of those food mills and do it the right way! The nonna way! Love when you speak Italian, makes my heart smile
Just wanted to share with you that this soup was absolutely delicious! Thank you for sharing. It was so easy to make also. Italian soups or food in general is so comforting! Blessings to you and your family!

Your videos make me wish I could be reborn as an Italian- and this is coming from a Greek!
I love the fact Laura’s been on UA-cam for a decade or so and keeps her home studio kitchen modest as it was when she started...thanks for staying real!
Looks so good! I remember stratcatale (spelling isn’t right!) you know what I’m talking about, chicken soup with eggs. Escarole is another favorite of mine. Thanks
Thank you!! Definitely going to make this. Pastina is comfort food to me too. BUT at my house, us French Canadians like our sweets. So a little butter, cinnamon and sugar on top... YUM!!
This is part of my childhood too, and I'm not Italian! My neighborhood friends would invite me over for lunch, and we would have something similar, with a loaf of crusty bread!!!🤤🤤🤤
Reminds me of childhood, my parents are from Mexico and my mom would make us a similar soup, small stars or fideo in a chicken bouillon based broth with onions and tomatoes, delicious. I want to make some now and try your version!
Laura, another idea for comfort food: semolino!! Well I am from the north of Italy, but goodness I could live on that semolino everyday. With just some parmigiano reggiano and half a table spoon of olive oil... absolutely my favorite comfort food!!! Chiaramente fatto all'italiana... non sto parlando del grits americano eh!
I can still hear my late friend Minna saying “Hon, make a me some a pasteen.” She was a sweet lady and I think of her every time I see my box of pastina in the pantry.
I would like to know what size the Staub cocotte is. I have a smaller 4 qt in the same color but want to buy larger. It's a striking color. Very rich looking.

Talk about nostalgia!! I could see you getting a little emotional at the end..your heart is your Nonna! ❤🍁
I love to hear you speak Italian, Laura. Thank you 😊
But she speaks naplitano ... just like me
My mom made us pastina when we got sick. She made it with butter!! Delicious 🤤 😊❤ Miss you mom!!

Reminds me a lot of the Sopa de Fideos that my mom made while I was growing up.
Ditto
We have sopa de fideos once a week here lol.
Si si si
That’s exactly what I thought too. Every culture has their own version of sopita.
We always eat sopita in our house lol💙💙
Pastina....definitely a wonderful childhood memory.
Believe it or not, just made this this weekend, I'm from Algeria and we make this very often.. Love this so much! Thanks Laura
Love this! My grandma always made me pastina. With butter & milk or with vegetable, beef or chicken broth. Pastina is the cure for all that ails you.

Aww love the memories attached to food...nothing like home food can bring so much joy and comfort!!!
Aw you can tell how much love she has for her family and how much she misses it ♥️
This has become my absolute favorite soup. It amazes me how much flavor you can get out of just water, vegetables and some cheese.
my mom from Italy , we ate this pastina a lot and i loved it , so i am going to make it now ...great memories
Laura, I love your recipes but I completely adore when you tell us stories about your childhood and family. It’s so warm and loving!!😍❤️
Something so simple is so good for you,the best part is you can freeze the remainder for another time and i guarantee it will taste even better.
Exactly how my Nana made it. Thank you for reminding me of this family favorite. Now I’m going to share it with my own babies. Thank you.
A M A Z I N G ! ! !

I felt all the feels. Although i did not grow up eating this soup. The feeling you described feels very familiar!
My baby is almost 5 months and we’re starting her on solids soon. I can’t wait to make this for her in the future.
can you imagine having a mother like her but still picky about eating food😂
Having a mother that cooks delicious food is the reason for growing picky
I love this recipe my grandma use to made it for us. Great kitchen gadget make life’s easier
This is the only way I make vegetable soup now ! Thank you !!
This makes me yearn for an Italian ancestry. Thanks for sharing.
My childhood right there in that bowl. I now make it for my grandchildren 🥰
I'm totally going to make this.

It’s like when Katie (from Royalty Soaps)’s daughter told her “I don’t like color” and Katie went 👁👄👁
I would like to know what size the Staub cocotte is. I have a smaller 4 qt in the same color but want to buy larger. It's a striking color. Very rich looking.
Very nice recipe
My nonna literally put a slice of potato on a burn I had! Food solves EVERYTHING!
Salt&water heals everything!!!
Looks delish! I wonder, could I use a potato ricer instead of the food mill?
Quick tip for a bit more flavor: cook down slightly your veggies a bit with olive oil before adding the water!
she knows, mentioned something about it in the beginning and all.
Amei a receita.. Vou fazer aqui no Brasil. Parabéns pelo vídeo!!! 😘
Exactly! This is my childhood. But the Stelline seemed a little bigger back then
If you don’t have any rind can you put in a chunk of parmigiana cheese or will it clumb and bind
Looks delicious. Going to cook this up!
Looks good ❤
8:18 Lmao 😂😂😂 classic nonna napoletana, beautiful
