    FAQ:
    Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. It is in the province of Foggia in the Puglia region of southeast Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina enjoys making food for her family in the same old fashion ways as she was taught by her mother and grandmother in Italy, and also new things she has subsequently learned from family and friends in America. She also enjoys gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera and behind the scenes?
Grandma Gina’s retired son-in-law, Nick, does the filming, editing, production, and channel management. Her daughter, Maria, helps with food preparation, kitchen setup and fan support. Also, Grandma Gina usually has one or two grand-kids in the kitchen to help.
    Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!

I'm just seeing this. I can't tell you how happy these three made me. Sweet Sister Lucia and her quiet way, probably always knew she would serve God. Baby sister Maria was always cherished and Gina was the Boss. All that love that they have for food and life. What treasures they are.

      @John J 😂😂😂
      Sweetheart, honey, I'll be gentle.
I grew up in NYC. Now the reason I say this is because I had the pleasure of meeting people from a lot of countries.
I was also the first person of color in an all white catholic school during the 80's. They were mostly Italian and irish.
My grandmother lived next door to an Italian couple from Sicily that barely spoke English, if any, during the early 70's.
Fun fact. I'm considered "Afro-American/African American/black..." yet I'm mixed with native indigenous, Caribbean indian, and Danish.
Caucasians have 1 point of view when it comes to what is considered Afro-American. They all assume we eat the things you listed but it's 100% inaccurate.
Since I don't know you, I want to believe it was an innocent assumption so I will explain this in kindness.
In my family, we didn't eat any of what you stated.
Fried chicken, cornbread, okra, yada yada... is indicative to the SOUTH and not just because a person is considered black.
My mother's father was from the South. They ate ALL of that and then some. But my grandmother didn't cook any of that until he taught her.
The food eaten in my family was a mixture and it included authentic Italian food and just a little of southern food.
The little old Italian couple taught my grandmother how to make a few traditional foods from Sicily 😊❤. My grandmother could make a mean Lasagna, stuffed cabbage, stuffed shells, manicotti ❤❤❤.
So I implore you to - first - ask every Afro-American what food they cook before assuming its the only thing we eat. We are not all the same by any means.
My family is a result of people from Bermuda (Caribbean & british), St. Croix (Caribbean indigenous) and Copenhagen on my mother's - mother's side and Afro-American (kentucky) and Cherokee on my grandfather's side.
Just a history lesson, the reason blacks in the south eat any of that stuff is because they were taught to by the slave owners because many of them worked in the kitchen and later as housekeepers in white homes.
Deep fried southern traditional food is not a staple of the original African community during colonialism.
Originally, African slaves had no idea what that was. They ate vegetables, grains, goat/sheep, cow and fish, herbs and spices. They didn't have many of the animals like pig to make bacon or pork chops, or lard, fatback, tripe, pigs feet... that is all from caucasian slave owners.
But the Africans coming into the country now only know this food depending on where they pass through. So if they go straight to NYC, they will encounter Caribbean food, Spanish food from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, etc. Ironically those traditional foods include many staples from Africa.

I hope you realize how much joy this video brings. I thank you for sharing this special gathering with your sisters and family.
My father in law was 100% Italian and my mother in law was 100% Lebanese. Unfortunately I missed out on many Italian cooking gatherings. My mother in law was a fabulous cook. She learned how to cook Italian food from her mother in law and she knew how to cook Lebanese. I wish I could have learned how to cook their recipes.
My grandma was a caterer (started cooking at the age of 12) who made the best food in the entire world. She was Slovakian and Austrian - she made many Eastern European dishes including Polish and German. (In addition to being Slovakian and Austrian, I am polish and German). I wish I had had the desire to learn from her.
All this cooking was done with family, love and happiness. Not only does the video prove that but the great taste of the food does as well. I wish we could go back in time and relive these gatherings.
I hope your holidays are filled with much love, joy, happiness and terrific food. God Bless.

Best memories were my Gram (who couldn’t read or write and was from Naples) teaching me how to bake and cook. She’d come and stay with us for weeks. I’d go to her house for most of the summers and helped her in her large garden. She made her bread every day and all our friends, family and neighbors loves when she’d come to visit. This channel, and you Gina, make me cry with such love and happiness. May God Bless you.

Ciao Nonna Gina, your videos bring back so many of my family memories, I love them. Cavateli was the most favorite pasta that my nonna used to make and every Sunday the whole family used to come over for dinner. Now that everybody has grown older and moved out of the city to the suburbs and to different states, those Sunday dinners never take place anymore but those memories remain. My nonna taught me how to make cavateli when I was about 4-5 years old and now at the age of 62 I continue to make cavateli for my family. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Salute da Napoli, Florida. ❤❤❤

I remembrer my nonna, Angelina, teaching me that move to shape the cavatelli, as a child with my face barely high enough to see upon her kitchen table. In Montreal's little Italy, she was tops, other nonnas woul come to her for cooking advice. Yep! Brings me tears of Joy. She also had two sisters, Marie, of course, and Adèle. She passed 25 yrs ago... I can still smell her cooking.🇮🇹

So wonderful! Beautiful sisters coming together to cook; laugh and share stories! Love listening to them sing!! There is nothing more delicious than handmade fresh pasta, so much work involved, but so very worth it!! My grandmother, who passed at 107, used to love and sing Tarantella and other songs in Italian! I come from a Sicilian family and every Christmas, usually starting shortly after Thanksgiving, we all get together and start making our Italian fig cookies from scratch and then the caponata from scratch. It’s a lot of work but it makes for great memories, (especially when wine is involved), fun and a lot of good food!! It’s a tradition that we’ve had for many, many years! Love videos like this!! ❤❤

When I was a child, my great grandmother didn't speak much English. But she could rattle off and sing in Italian for hours on end. She also used to pinch my cheeks so hard it brought tears to my eyes. Every Sunday, we ate dinner in the basement of her house. She had two gas oven and two brick ovens. Those were the days. I never knew what I had at the time but I sure do, now.
