    Just spent three days in Prague and we took the Old Town/Jewish Quarter and Prague Castle Free Walking Tours, both with Katarina. She was fantastic and we really enjoyed her knowledge, insights and sense of humor on both tours. Your channel has been instrumental in ensuring that our trip to Praha has been a great one. Keep up the great work and thank you.

    The way I think Cze should be doing on updating their currency is to let public accept all legal bank notes, whenever old notes get deposited or go thru the banking system! exchange the notes to new version and destroy/credit the old notes! it will be trouble free and no confusion to the public/tourist!

    4:00 you are absolutely correct on the 90%ish rule on credit cards. I went to Prague multiple times (took your tour in one of them) and had to pay with cash about 4 occasions.

    ❤ great video as always, I don’t think any other city has a similar tourist vlog like yours. I am glad you kept the Czech crown as currency as all the places we have visited who have taken the Euro has complained how much their cost of living has risen, which has had a knock on effect to everything🤨. You and your team should be recognised by your Government for the work, dedication and professionalism you bring to showcase Prague and Czech👍

    The church depicted on 10 CZK coin is cathedral of saint Peter and Paul in Brno. Yes, I know, how shocking - Brno. But Moravian influence is also on 2 CZK coin where we can see traditional "gombík" from the ancient Great Moravian Empire.

    Valery, I have watched MANY of your videos. You do a great job and I always get a couple chuckles too. I will be traveling to Prague in less than three weeks (woo hoo)! I have just about everything planned for the trip as far as excursions/site seeing goes. Right now we are going to do/see: Medieval/underground dungeon tour, ghosts & legends tour, beer spa, Petrin tower, Prague castle tour, Kunta Hora, and of course the astrological clock, Charles bridge, etc. Is there any one item I'm missing that you would say you can't go to Prague without seeing? I had thought about the zoo. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks and take care!

    Currencies are regularly reissued/updated for a variety of reasons. For example to make it harder to counterfeit them. Or to make them more durable. Or to make them more suitable for new inventions. (eg cash/ticket machines.) Or because the powers that be decide that they don't like the previous regime's propaganda images on them. Or because the values have become obsolete because of inflation.
    I personally regret that the old paper $10 Australian bill was withdrawn from service. I liked the fact that it was the only banknote in the world to have the picture of a previously convicted forger on it. (Francis Greenway) 😜🤣🤣

    Don't they use the Euro?

  • @Pidalin
    @Pidalin 5 днів тому +1

    This is a nice example of how our Czech currency is stable and value keeper....in normal countries, banknote is valid for decades, here, you have to replace banknotes every like 10 years. We should finally accept euro, this is ridiculous. And another ridiculous thing is that all hotels have prices in eur, so when you are Czech and you want to stay in Czechia, you have to pay price in eur and then convert it to CZK, so you don't even know how much exactly you will pay in CZK, when it already went this far, it's pointless to keep our currency, bussineses use it only because they have to.

    • @stevemcgowen
      @stevemcgowen 5 днів тому +2

      Pretty sure it is illegal to charge in Euro. Some hotels and restaurants in the centre do offer to charge in Euro, but it is not mandatory. Switching to Euro would make things more expensive, which is a reason why CR never changed. I like that CR has its own currency.

      Plácáš hovadiny. Moc dobře si pamatuju, když končily určité druhy bankovek třeba v Německu, když to byly ještě marky. Každá banka dělá takovou obměnu a ty bankovky pak lze směnit jen ve vybraných pobočkách. i v USA je sice teoreticky možné platit 100 let starými dolary, ale v krámě je od tebe nikdo nevezme.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin 5 днів тому

      @@xsc1000 A v Německu se dělo co? Měl jsi tam jenom za 100 let snad 4x změnu řežimu, měny, rozdělení, znovusjednocení...tak jasně že tam ty marky občas vyměnit museli. U moderních bankovek jako máme dneska a bez změn režimů by se tohle podle mě takhle dít nemělo, maj ty bankovky prostě banky stahovat a neposílat dál do oběhu bez toho aby se to vyloženě zneplatnilo, časem by se tak z oběhu odstranily i bez toho aby to museli řešit lidi.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin 5 днів тому

      @@stevemcgowen My comment disapeared again, so again, I didn't mean like you can't pay in CZK in cash, I meant that price is in eur and then they recalculate it to CZK, so price in CZK is not fixed, but it changes everyday depending on exchange rate.
