I'm from the Netherlands, and I've been to Prague five times. I've missed this beautiful, romantic city since the day I left in mid-July, 2022. I think Prague is safer than Amsterdam, and a much better value for your tourist euro, dollar or pound. Thanks for the good advice in this video. Stay alert wherever you go!

I completely agree (four times in my case, last time was in 2012). All touristy places are bound to have pickpockets, but personally, I never felt less safe in Prague, be it on my own or with family and friends, than, say in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Also: Beware of those money snatching corporations around the world called stores! :)

I've also been to Prague 12 times. On 3 occasions I stayed in Radlicka round the corner from Andel. Last time I stayed in Rumunska round the corner from IP Pavlova. I've been in Chapeau Rouge many times. When I went to the Tesnov Jidelna I got the Metro to Florenc. I've used Hlavni Nadrazi to travel to Kutna Hora, Plzen and Bratislava. I have never encountered any trouble at any of these places...maybe I've just been lucky.
The only time there was any trouble was in 2010 when my group stayed in an apartment right behind the Tyn church in Stare Mesto. The apartment was broken into and my passport was stolen. I visited the Police Station in your video, they were very helpful and provided the correct paperwork for me to go to the UK consulate for a replacement passport.
As you say Valery, keep your wits about you, your belongings secure and you shouldn't encounter any problems.

after four days in the city a week ago, mostly staying in P1 and 2, the place looks and feels very safe - did not notice anybody carrying concealed weapons, no mexican cartels or street gangs on any corners, no one is shooting up (guns or drugs) in public view, no homeless people high as kites defecating in public view (hello, San Francisco).
all and all, compared to Bay Area California, Prague is a safe and civilized place (though same goes for most metro areas in Europe).

I was in Istanbul in 2018. People left their phones, their wallets, and laptops at tables while they stood in line to get food, and these were high traffic restaurants in Taksm. Another UA-camr did a video of leaving a bunch of valuables in Japan. I guess people who leave phones on tables might be confused with where they are geographically speaking.

Nothing ever happened to me in Prague, but I was cheated in Vienna in caffé when they printed something what we didn't have on the bill, for higher price ofcourse. 😀 Do people really think that these things are happening only in Prague?
But in last years, I feel like "unsafe" feeling in some places is worse than before, but it's still nothing compared to 90s when nazis nad gypsies had literally war at streets.
My father lost his wallet in Pula, Croatia at street and we later found it at police station and nothing was missing inside, that would probably not happen in Prague. 😀
Drivers in Prague are not that bad, they mostly stop for you and they use blinkers. Here in village where I live, I sometimes have to just jump in front of car becuase nobody will let me go on crossing and when there is traffic jam in main road, you can't just wait for empty road, it's full always, so I would say that drivers in Prague are much more friendly than some rushing people in cars in villages because if they are late like 5 minutes, their wives are calling them where the hell are they, this culture is not in Prague, thankfuly.
Have your phone and wallet in front pockets and you will be ok.
The most dangerous places in Prague by my opinion are definitely - Florenc around metro station - that's really dangerous destination after dark, another is near, that's náměstí republiky metro station, there is always something happening and then probably Černý Most bus station. Václavák and other very historical places are ok, nobody will beat you there for no reason because there is plenty of people around you, but at Florenc metro station....that's really bad feeling sometimes when you see all those roma drug sellers and junkies and you hear yelling them for no reason, also, most of attacks with knife are in this area. I lived at I.P. Pavlova and except screaming drunken people, it's ok there, drunken people are annoying, can be agressive, but in most of situations, they are just drunken tourists, they are annoying when they scream under your window, but I am not scared by them as by people at Florenc station, people there look really dangerous.
BTW, be careful when you see people with typical eastern european uniform, which is tracksuit, they are mostly agressive, I don't care if that person is ukrainian worker or russian tourist or some romanian, when I see eastern european looking person in tracksuit, I am always very careful, they just don't look ok to me, they have that "alpha male" walking style and staring at you very weirdly. I know that it's very dangerous to say it in these times, but when you hear in new that someone stabed someone with knife at Florenc metro station, you can be sure that those people were some ukrainians, and these people are NOT today war refugees to be clear.

When we were looking for the Cloud 9 bar before our night out there we walked down by the river towards the weir past the skate park. Wouldn’t recommend that to tourist😉 but we were ok and then walked back to the bridge and crossed over the river and walked back to where you meet start your tours to meet Nico👍. I’m from Sweden… so like one of the highest crime rates in Europe… I am not scared to go out at night as long as I do it in the right places… which are most places.
For a entire month I lived in a ”no go zone” without even knowing it… and I didn’t hesitate to go out for a walk in the night. (Probably just lucky to not get robbed🤣)
That city I only lived in for two months during some internships while I was studying…
But for the cities I have lived in more permanently I know exactly where to go/live and not. And some of those places I avoid even during the day.
Overall, Sweden isn’t dangerous… Usually every city and town, small or big has a quarter or district where immigrants, poor people, alcoholics, students, drug users and other “loose people” live where crime is high and in many cases these places have “gangs”.
These are often located outside of the city centres.
But another place that’s “dangerous” during nighttime in almost every city or town is the centre… because of clubs and bars… drunk people and drug deals in the streets etc…
Sweden has the third highest crime index in Europe… so it’s quite funny how swedish people are afraid of the “high crime rates” of countries like czechia, bulgaria, poland etc… those are literally considered safer countries that the one we live in🤣

I live in Prague. Trams can be tricky. On long, straight roads they go faster than cars and that can be deceptive because you don't expect them barreling down at you, which I discovered first hand. I was rewarded with a very long, and very angry bell ringing from the tram driver. Also, trams come around corners when you don't expect them. That's another aspect of Anděl. It's a major tram intersection. They come at you from all directions. But I love riding them and I love living in Prague!

Prague is generaly one of the most safest cities in Europe but there are still sketchy areas that are far from city centre and that turist (thank god) dont visit. If you can, avoid "Skalka" on metro A line. Homeless people, drugs, junkies, graffiti, bad smell etc. Same can be said with "Černý most" or for example "Kačerov". So just dont visit uptown neighborhoods of Prague. Also be extra careful in busy and crowded places like tram, train or metro stations as small robbery are kind of common

Recommendation for always letting the tram go even in a car is certainly a good one especially for a foreigner who cannot read additional informations under traffic signs written in Czech
But if you are driving a car, tram has to usually obey the same rules in relation to you just as any other car would have. For example if tram is about to cross from a secondary road to a main road, it has to give a way for the cars on the main road. One spot like this I can think of right away is crossroad between streets "Odborů" and "Myslíkova". Trams going to the river have to give a way for every car on the main road.

I do love all of your other videos about Prague - but this one just seems to be 'clickbait'.
You know your city is safe....
The whole video seems to be intent on making people worried, rather than making people secure. The area regarding drugs was one that a friend has warned me about - people selling them, in that area - otherwise Prague is much safer than anywhere in the UK. Usual common sense stuff about keeping important stuff near to you....

@1:15 In My Country (Kuwait) and the rest of GCC Countries it is totally normal to leave Your personal belongings like car keys or laptop on a cafe table and go to the toilet or to smoke a cigarettes out side. BUT I would never ever do it when I am on a trip to other Country! That is the most stupid thing to do.

Hello, I loved you videos. I am planning to study in Prague from next year. Can you please say something about the skin care products in Prague. Where can I find them or what kind of shops are there for skin care products. Also is there any korean or japanese shop?

    • @tomas.mp4

Don't be afraid about it. You can find all major skin care brands in Prague - Vichy, Yves Rocher, Lancome, L'Oréal, Nivea, Schwarzkopf, Clinique etc. However I would definitely recommend trying Czech skin care, for example excellent is Nobilis Tilia - very good cosmetics and their lotions/creams work as aromatherapy too. :) Other good brands are Cannaderm or Botanicus.
Yes, I know one Japanese shop near Wenceslas Square or search for Japa Shop - this one is in Prague 6. :)

Anybody who thinks Prague is dangerous doesn't have experience with cities. It's so much safer than Los Angeles or San Francisco in my state. I felt a million times safer in Prague than in Paris. The key with travel to any city, even one that's "safe" is to be alert and aware. Bad things can happen anywhere, but the great things usually outweigh the bad.

I used to work in the breakfast room of a hotel and sooooo many people “claim” their seat by placing their bag on the seat and then leave it unattended for a long time when they get their food 😑 Just don’t. Even if random people from the street cannot access this area, other hotel guests may not be that honest when presented with such an easy opportunity. So don’t be surprised if your bag or just your wallet is gone when you come back to your seat 🤷‍♀️
And I would say to always avoid parks after dark wherever you are 🤔😅

I just went to Prague and had no trouble with the scammers. They approached. I ignored them. I sometimes stepped around them. I did not speak to them. Amazing. They can’t cheat you if you simply do not engage. However, I did have to apologize to one guy I thought was a scammer. All he wanted was for me to take his picture. Don’t get me wrong. I kept my eye on him and his friend the whole time, but I smiled, took the picture, and had a nice chat.

They were known as bad drivers, but now I have seen it myself personally.. I dont know if it is the same in other cities, but Prague is very, very bad when we talk about traffic safety and rules

Stealing a safe distance, not observing the speed limit, not giving a direction indicator... it's probably a nationwide varmint. I do not understand that. He barely gets out of the car, is so cool. But in the car he is like a madman, like a rally champion. That feeling of rushing, quickly being (5 minutes earlier) at home? I'm sorry as a Czech. Perhaps it would help if the police were more visible. When a moral appeal is not enough.

As latino living in Prague for 3 months... Must say this is heaven lol yes basic safety rules but here won't come anyone to assault you, knife, gun, kidnap, etc. Yes, at night with drunk people, stay away and more from groups, they will probably try to annoy you, aside that, you keep walking and done. So, I love this city

My 3rd in Prague (23 July 2023) and I haven't felt this safe anywhere else. I don't even feel as safe in my own country of India, although nothing happens but just the vibe of Prague is amazing. But we in India don't have the drunken problem as much as I have seen in Europe. The drunk rowdy behaviour in Europe is insane.
The worst in Europe in my experience has to be UK. I've lived there before and wouldn't want to spend late nights roaming anywhere.
BTW, I see homeless people be in a bent over begging position in the evenings. Not dur8ng the day. Anyone know why this is?

Once they tried to scam me by putting less items (guys selling in the street and at a shopping with chocolates, yeah... That scam level lol) and I became aware of the tactics, so I stopped them and complained... So argued a little, demand them to comply and ended up giving me more haha so... That is the danger here. Of course if you go all in good faith that everyone is nice, sometime it will fail, but must say, I have tempted destiny drinking and nothing happened. So, again, as latino and used to more tricky people, would say this is 90% safe place rather than south America where it can be a 40% safe

I found this video very informative👍and I can say that none of these places have many entries on my 'want to go list' so I feel quite safe for my upcoming first visit.
Every city has potential dangerous places and visitors should do some research in advance on that and not just look at pretty pictures and fancy descriptions about their destination. And naturally tourists should connect with their sense known as 'common' when visiting an unknown place. Negative experiences can then be avoided or at least severely limited.
I do plan nightly activity as well for some 📷. Summertime is not ideal because of the long days, but still I hope the results will be nice.

I was in Prague recently, and my hotel was near Andel. I didn't have any problems at night, and always felt perfectly safe. Even riding the metro and trams at all hours was not a problem. I think Prague is about safe a city to visit as any other. Anybody planning to visit should purchase their tickets, make their reservations and pack their bags.
