    A great video guys. Some extra info. I got a nice shock on my birthday last year - I'm 60. A litacka (season ticket) is a THIRD of the price not half. Blew my mind. If you are between 60 and 65 and here for a week, get a monthly pass. It's 130kcs. Have a lovely day from an old piano player.

    Don’t like them fining you when the machine is broken. Here in Seattle you get a free ride when that happens.😢
    A very nice explanation.

    • @SaxonyELK
      @SaxonyELK 6 місяців тому +10

      Yeah, also from where I've grown up. If the ticket machine is broken in the tram, you get a free ride if you don't already have a ticket and the inspectors will send the number of the vehicle out, so that other ticket inspectors won't board the tram until it got repaired. Only this is fair!

    • @ShangZilla
      @ShangZilla Місяць тому +1

      This could never be implemented in Czechia because people would just break the machine to ride free.

    A little list for tourists from around the world:
    → 30 min / 30CZK = 1.19 EUR = 1.30 US$ = 1.02 GBP
    → 90 min / 40CZK = 1.59 EUR = 1.73 US$ = 1.35 GBP
    → 24 hrs / 120CZK = 4.76 EUR = 5.19 US$ = 4.07 GBP
    → 72 hrs / 330CZK = 13.09 EUR = 14.26US$ = 11.18GBP
    Of course, the amounts may vary slightly from day to day but this little list should work as a good reference for most of you! :)

    Thank you for this usefull information on the subject of buying tickets. The validation step is very difficult to understand for foreigners wo are not used to do it.

    • @AndyRichards-b9n
      @AndyRichards-b9n Місяць тому

      Agree! Not only difficult to understand here, but a concept that is administered differently in different parts of the world. The first time we encountered it was in Italy back in the early 2000's (our first time abroad). There you had to validate EVERY time you boarded even with a multiple day ticket. We used them in Venice. More recently we were in Portugal and although we could see facilities for validating tickets, we never really figured their system out at all (fortunately, never had a problem). It seems like in our modern electronic age, it should be possible to have a ticket that can be read and if it has $$ on it, should be good. I understand we are coming into a country with its own culture from our own country and will always do my best to follow the rules there - but they can be very confusing. Especially when we have already PAID for the full fare.

    Brilliant 👏🏻 that’s a very informative and useful video. We walked everywhere, the only time we got on a tram was with your husband to the castle😉 and then he was very good in getting the point over of how to get them validated. The first time I came we stayed on the outside of Prague 🤷🏼‍♂️ all I can remember is there was a very large IKEA on the other side of the motorway we came in on. We would get the metro into Prague every morning. Very fast and extremely clean “unlike London Underground 🫣” I think when we visited again we will still walk, there’s so many beautiful buildings that you would miss and it’s so easy to get around most of the things to see👍

    Regarding 7:00, you will see 'na znamení' on the sheet with the timetable. 'Zastavka na znamení' means request stop. If you see an X next to a tram stop name, that means it is a request stop. When on a tram, looking at where the next stop is displayed, watch out for a bell icon where the next stop is displayed. You will also hear the announcement 'zastavka je na znamení' when approaching a request stop.

      @letecmig 3 місяці тому

      What is unfair about it? The rule is as simple as it could be: entering the public transport with a ticket without validation= its 'no ticket'. The rule can't be any simpler. PRG public transport system is based on honesty system which relies on very simple rules that need to be enforced to keep the 'honesty' aspect working in a city of 1.3 million where like 90% of people use the public transport daily. (and yes, tourists are negligible percentage of users of the system, although it might not seem as such when in few stations in the historic center)

Transportation is by car, by means of driving. If not for my Swiss trip last year I would not have plucked the courage to take tram and subway after 1 day in Prague. I think that every country you go to should have a guide in youtube on the transpo system because there are certain laws that vary. For european countries these transpo system are normal, but for other tourists w/o this is challenging.

My parents are in their 80's and they show thier Florida DL and it works great. The senior age to travel free in Czech Republic 65 yrs or older and 60-64 age is dicounted ticket and you need a ticket.

      @@fingersfinesilver I have been traveling to Prague from Florida every year except during COVID travel ban time since 2006, because I have my own apartment in Praha 7 Holesovice and I never carry my passport when in the city, but a valid DL is fine for identification and requirements. It is risky to carry your passport at all times for getting lost or stolen from pick pocket. You only need a passport when traveling by train crossing country borders or boarding a plane, and entering a new country for customs. I have never been asked to show my passport in prague all these years except when I go to my bank for banking purpose from my own account is when i carry my pasport or when I exchange money at exchange center. Cheers!

    Hi! Luv your great videos. However 1 question/clarification: I'm 73yo heading to Prague. Do I need to purchase a ticket indicating FREE or do I just need to show controller a document indicating my age? This info is not indicated CLEARLY on any video I've watched. Thanks.
