I Think… I NEEDED to visit POLAND. (I'm shook) 🇵🇱😮💨

- WROCLAW, POLAND is not somewhere I thought I would visit. Poland in general wasn't on my Travel Bucket List.
Based out of Prague, and with a huge amount of options for destinations in Europe, something in me told me that I should visit Poland. I hadn't heard much about it... it wasn't buzzy, but it just felt like something I should do.
Shortly after arriving I had a major lightbulb moment. It entirely changed the way I viewed Poland as a country, and the way I looked at my own family, history, and life.
The food and culture in Wroclaw is incredible and (to my absolute surprise), the city has become one of my favorite places in all of Europe. I hope you get a chance to visit, and I hope you get a chance to travel to places that have importance to yourself, your upbringing, and your family history! It's more important than you might even realize.

I used live in Wrocław ,it's an awesome city . Greetingsfrom Łódź
Live there 😁🤟🏻💛
We did not try to figure out our identity in the 80s. We knew what our identity was and fought for it. Konspira is a slang term for konspiracja (conspiracy) and in this context refers to Solidarność being delegalized and pushed into the underground. Please learn your own history, so people from foreign countries will not shame you. Only 2% of people living in the US held slaves, including Native Americans and black people (sic!). The US was not built on the back of the slaves, as at their highest point, they comprised 15% of the population. Polish people were on the Mayflower; therefore, Polish culture is a part of American culture.
Congrats on your Wrocław pronunciation! I lived in Pittsburgh for almost 9 years and can attest that Western PA is also dripping with Polish culture, yet everyone identifies 100% American and they don’t know much about Poland. Glad you enjoyed Poland and hope you’ll get to explore other cities too!
Pierwszy Amerykanin który dobrze wymawia WROCŁAW! Pozdrawiam!
Wiem, że źle wymówiłem inne rzeczy, ale ćwiczyłem przez jakiś czas mówienie „Wrocław”! Cieszę się, że wymówiłem to poprawnie!

Awe this comment just made my day! It's absolutely true, and to this day I will always try to find them in the grocery store! Thank you for watching!!

The best pronunciation of "Wrocław" I have heard from a foreigner. Enjoyed watching your culinary adventure and personal journey. Sub :)
Awe thank you! I practiced! 😂🙏🏻❤️
His 'rynek' needs a little work though :)
As a foreigner who lived in Wrocław for 3 years this video brings back so many good memories. We remembered the good times we lived there, unique mixture of architecture, Stare Miasto, Wyspa Piasek, pierogarnias, little dwarf statues... There are even more things to see, Hala Stulecia coming to my mind right away. It is such an underrated city with lots to offer in my opinion. But the best part for us was the decent people. Everyone was so nice and helpful for our foreigner family who couldn't speak Polish at all.
For food there are many options as well. Besides lovely restaurants and cafes, there are many nice local options called Bar Mleczny. Some of them cook decent and authentic food. Also you can try going for a 'Cukiernia' and try Sernik, or go for a 'Pączkarnia' to get some delicious pączki. You will then get why some international brands like Cheesecake Factory or Dunkin Donuts had no chance in this country :)
PS: Even though that now we live in Germany, we think that Polish Golonka beats Haxe, as well as Kielbasa is just better than most of the Wurst. But we don't tell it to our German friends in order not to hurt their feelings :D
This is so cool to hear! It really is lovely, and definitely seems to me like a fantastic place to live. I'll take note of your suggestions for next time, that sounds amazing! Thank you so much for watching!! 🙏🏻
good tactics. Germans hate Poles and if you said something like that you would make an enemy for life
Such a nice comment :) Wish You all best my half polish Friend ;)
Pozdrawiam serdecznie.

You are right Americans still think that Poland is somewhere in Siberia with polar bears strolling in the streets and nothing to see. This is true even with those who have Polish roots, for whom Europe starts and ends with London. I go to Poland every year and frankly I like the fact that not too many people want to visit so it is still affordable and not overcrowded with tourists.
Great video and story behind it. Best!

Great pronunciation of Wrocław! (it's difficult for foreigners!!)
I'm glad that you started from Wrocław, my hometown! It is often omitted on the tourist map of Poland (Kraków and the capital - Warsaw are the leaders).
U Beatka it's Beata's Place (it's like Bar Mleczny but I won't explain it here) - a great type of place for really basic Polish dishes, which I love.
In your next trip you should visit Gdańsk, Krakow and the capital city - Warsaw to compare the experiences! Or go further and go a bit into the wilderness - Bieszczady or Mazury lake district.
Tell your friends that Poland is a very worth visiting country! A very quiet place, open to visitors and a clean one! Even Geremy Clarkson confirms this.
There is nothing to be afraid of. Except... Polar Bears! from the stories of people who have never been here.

Amazing that you liked it, Wrocław is great city and your story about pierogi is just awww ❤ i'm from upper Silesia in Poland, which is not tourist region at all (very urbanistic and famous of its mines and industry in the past), but if you happen to be here you can see some great industrial monuments linked to its history, such as XIX century Guido coal mine in Zabrze or Silesian Museum in Katowice. Silesia also has multiple well preserved baronial palaces and castles (eg palace in Pszczyna is beautiful, it has some biggest preserved after WW II crystal mirrors in the whole Europe). You can also discover some interesting food which is common for this region - rolada, kluski śląskie i modra kapusta are worth trying - it's one dish 😄 wish you all the best in your future journeys!
Ah it sounds like such an amazing place!! The region I'm from in the US is actually very similar, it's known for its coal mining history (actually the Polish immigrants would often work in the coal mines!) I'd love to visit one day! Thank you for watching!!
Wow, great to know that our regions have much in common despite of the distance! The pleasure is all mine ❤
Fajny kanał, pozdrawiam z Polski
Bardzo dziękuję!
great vid m8, greetings from Poznań
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻
The way You say Wrocław is amazingly perfect. Im glad, that You had a great time in Poland :D Wrocław is a beautiful city. Greetings from Toruń, Poland. :D
Thank you! I practiced 😂 I really did have a great time in Poland, I can't wait to go back and see so much more of the country
It's so funny. Just week before your visit I went by bus to Prague from Wrocław to do exactly the same thing. Just to walk around the city and eat some czech bread dumplings with their thick sauces. :) Many people from Wrocław often visit Prague, not some many other way around, but maybe it's better for the peacefulness of the city. :) I'M REALLY GLAD YOU LIKED MY CITY!
I'm so jealous of people who live in Europe who can take weekend trips like this all the time. Amazing! I really did, I loved it! I'll be back for sure, and to other cities in Poland as well. Thank you for watching!!
@@Get.Lost.Travel Kraków, Gdańsk, Poznań and Warszawa are some must see cities in Poland. Mazury, Bieszczady and Tatra Mountains are great places with nature. But I really love our cuisine. For example - street food - Zapiekanka - pastry - Rogal Swietomarcinski or polish Chesscake or Pączki - silesian cuisine - Kluski slaskie z rolada - traditional - Bigos (Hunters stew) etc. but in my special opinion - POLISH SOUPS - their are so many of them - Zurek, Krupnik, Grzybowa, Grochowka, Barszcz, Rosol and many others,. Read about Milk Bars in Poland. Always great and very cheap place to try and visit
STARY MŁYN is a franchise restaurant... dumplings are a national treasure :)
If you were delighted with the dumplings in the market square, then... next time you visit, try the local ones, not the ones in the market square.
I'm not saying they're bad... but they could be a few levels higher ;)
Oh I'm sure! Yeah I figured they were a chain AND in the center square, so if these were THAT good I can only imagine what else is out there. I just didn't have many options on Easter weekend 😂 I'll be back to try more! I can't wait! Thank you for watching!!
Wrocław is my beloved home city that I haven't seen in a long while (I live in Rotterdam). But I recognized every place you took us and it was a unexpected, moving experience (esp. givem your main point). Thank you very much and best of luck in your travels!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it and were able to reconnect. I know Rotterdam is incredible as well, there are such amazing cities in Europe! 🙏🏻
Your Wrocław pronunciation shocked me! It was so good, also smile on your face while eating pierogi made my day, greeting from Poland man🫶🏼🫶🏼❤️
Thank you so much!! Love pierogi, loved Poland, can't wait to go back! 🤩
there's a saying in Poland, if you wan't to win man's heart, you have to do that through his stomach to heart (Przez żołądek do serca). I'm glad Poland won you in that traditional way
That's so precious. Definitely did 😂 Swooned me with the food and won me over with the rest of its beauty. ❤️
❤🇵🇱❤
❤️
Dude you nailed it, name of the city! Szacun.
Thank you so much!! 🤩
Great video and good pronunciation of Wroclaw name :) Best regards from Wrocław, Poland :)

Thank you!! They're the best, right?? I forgot how much I loved them before this 😭🙏🏻
There's bunch of other Varieties of pierogi if you vegan you can get all fruit or mashroom cabbage pierogi if not meat.all of them delicious.
Wroclaw is one of the best looking cities in the world
You have to go to Crakow and Warsaw in Poland 🤍♥️
I definitely will! I have so much more of the country to explore 🇵🇱
Świetny materiał, tak trzymaj. Pozdrawiam z Poznania
Bardzo dziękuję! Dam z siebie wszystko! 😊
Love the message at the end of the episode. I think it applies to every country- Polish traditions also derive often from different countries/ cultures' traditions. We are all connected :) Never underestimate the power of pierogi!
Right! That's exactly true. Pierogi Power 💪🏼🇵🇱
I got so excited watching this video. I'm actually moving to Wroclaw in two months and would definitely go have some mixed pierogi plate. I always struggled picking a type. My favorite are pierogi ruskie, what are yours?
I love them all! And I'm not really experienced with the different kinds, in my hometown we really just had the one very simple version 😂 I'm excited to try more!
Prague is a very nice city. Their homemade food is similar to Polish and their cheese taste like Masuria Region cheese from my childhood. I love Czech Republic but it’s a mistake to think that any of the major Polish cities are any worse. Traveling between my country - Poland and Czech Republic, sometimes I don’t know where I am. Go to Gdańsk and take a ship to Sopot next time or come to the city of Toruń - a birthplace of Nicolas’s Copernicus. We have the same pierogi restaurant called Stary Młyn. Lublin is nice too, a stomping ground of Maria Skłodowska Curie. Cheers!
Thank you so much for watching! Yeah that's how I felt too, it's sort of the point I'm making here I guess is that the "perception" of Poland in the US isn't up to how people think of/feel about Prague, etc. but they should! It's so beautiful and I really loved it
