As a foreigner who lived in Wrocław for 3 years this video brings back so many good memories. We remembered the good times we lived there, unique mixture of architecture, Stare Miasto, Wyspa Piasek, pierogarnias, little dwarf statues... There are even more things to see, Hala Stulecia coming to my mind right away. It is such an underrated city with lots to offer in my opinion. But the best part for us was the decent people. Everyone was so nice and helpful for our foreigner family who couldn't speak Polish at all. For food there are many options as well. Besides lovely restaurants and cafes, there are many nice local options called Bar Mleczny. Some of them cook decent and authentic food. Also you can try going for a 'Cukiernia' and try Sernik, or go for a 'Pączkarnia' to get some delicious pączki. You will then get why some international brands like Cheesecake Factory or Dunkin Donuts had no chance in this country :) PS: Even though that now we live in Germany, we think that Polish Golonka beats Haxe, as well as Kielbasa is just better than most of the Wurst. But we don't tell it to our German friends in order not to hurt their feelings :D

I have a Polish grandfather who died before I was born. I have always had Poland on my ‘to visit’ list but I always felt bad I knew nothing about it. Your video has really inspired me to make the trip next year. So thanks!
As a Pole I wish you a nice trip. If you happen to visit Wrocław please consider checking out Panorama Racławicka. It's an awe inspiring 360 degree painting (titled Bitwa pod Racławicami) depicting one of famous battles in polish history. It also has a really cool detail of a polish peasant soldier (Wojciech Bartosz) holding a broken scythe and putting his headwear on russian cannon trying to extinguish it before it fires. (I won't tell you if he made it though, go check yourself) ;)
If I can give you any advice: spend a little more time on this trip... because Poland is very diverse. Even among the largest cities, each has a different character... and it would be nice to see at least Krakow, Warsaw, Lublin, Gdańsk, Wrocław, or Sandomierz, or Kazimierz Dolny... besides, in Poland you have the sea, various types of mountains, wonderful national parks (forests, swamps, charming, winding, unregulated rivers...). Generally, before the visit, it is worth doing a little research on the Internet - UA-cam and sightseeing films about Poland, or even Google Maps in satellite view and Google Street View... and numerous photos added to the maps by people visiting given places. Enjoy! :)
Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
Your reflection on connection you grew up with is very moving. You have specific sensitivity others don't have. Maybe some will shift perspective after watching this video. Wrocław is a gem, easily one of the most beautiful and chill places in this part of Europe. Maybe you should consider coming back to Wroclaw and going around the country? There is a lot to see in Poland. Cheers from Wrocław ✌🏻

@@Get.Lost.Travel Maybe it would be worth visiting Poland following the trail from the oldest Polish cities. It would be a really interesting film. It is commonly believed that the oldest cities in Poland are Kalisz, Wrocław, Kraków or Gniezno, but this is not true. List of the 10 oldest cities that have been within the borders of Poland since 1200, as no reliable written sources have survived before. The oldest city in Poland is Złotoryja. It was established before 1211 and was one of the most important mining centers in Lower Silesia. More cities were built right after it. Most of them in Silesia. Hey there! I was born and raised in Wrocław! Happy to hear so many nice things people say about this town. It's truely a very good tourist destination. Nice channel! You are a great guy! I wish a success with the channel!
Your pronunciation of Wrocław is outstanding! It is my hometown, I was born and raised there but I've never heard foreigner pronouncing Wrocław that amazing way !
It's my first time on this channel, but I'll say something meaningful here Great pronunciation of Wrocław! (it's difficult for foreigners!!) I'm glad that you started from Wrocław, my hometown! It is often omitted on the tourist map of Poland (Kraków and the capital - Warsaw are the leaders). U Beatka it's Beata's Place (it's like Bar Mleczny but I won't explain it here) - a great type of place for really basic Polish dishes, which I love. In your next trip you should visit Gdańsk, Krakow and the capital city - Warsaw to compare the experiences! Or go further and go a bit into the wilderness - Bieszczady or Mazury lake district. Tell your friends that Poland is a very worth visiting country! A very quiet place, open to visitors and a clean one! Even Geremy Clarkson confirms this. There is nothing to be afraid of. Except... Polar Bears! from the stories of people who have never been here. Peace
I will take your advice, I really want to visit some of the other cities and regions for sure! The pictures look beautiful, I'll be planning a longer trip sometime in the future!! 🙏🏻🇵🇱
I got intrigued and started watching your clip only to find myself immersed in your childhood stories. It is an unusual to share childhood experiences with someone who is not a part of the polish heritage by blood yet identifies himself with the part of it that became an element of the American culture
I got so excited watching this video. I'm actually moving to Wroclaw in two months and would definitely go have some mixed pierogi plate. I always struggled picking a type. My favorite are pierogi ruskie, what are yours?
I love them all! And I'm not really experienced with the different kinds, in my hometown we really just had the one very simple version 😂 I'm excited to try more!
Pozdrowienia! Super video, so glad you enjoyed your visit in Wrocław and you are very insightful about your thoughts on heritage. We are all one beautiful mankind! ❤
Thank you for this video. I'm very pleased that you felt like at home. When you get back, notice that "pierogi" is already in the plural. You don`t have to add s. The singular is "pieróg" (ó=u). Perhaps you will surprise some Pole from Pennsylvania with this knowledge :)
This just blew my mind!! 🤯 It makes sense though, the way the people from my hometown area pronounce *any* of this stuff is very wrong from my small amount of experience. Thank you for this, I'll remember that!

It's so funny. Just week before your visit I went by bus to Prague from Wrocław to do exactly the same thing. Just to walk around the city and eat some czech bread dumplings with their thick sauces. :) Many people from Wrocław often visit Prague, not some many other way around, but maybe it's better for the peacefulness of the city. :) I'M REALLY GLAD YOU LIKED MY CITY!
I'm so jealous of people who live in Europe who can take weekend trips like this all the time. Amazing! I really did, I loved it! I'll be back for sure, and to other cities in Poland as well. Thank you for watching!!
@@Get.Lost.Travel Kraków, Gdańsk, Poznań and Warszawa are some must see cities in Poland. Mazury, Bieszczady and Tatra Mountains are great places with nature. But I really love our cuisine. For example - street food - Zapiekanka - pastry - Rogal Swietomarcinski or polish Chesscake or Pączki - silesian cuisine - Kluski slaskie z rolada - traditional - Bigos (Hunters stew) etc. but in my special opinion - POLISH SOUPS - their are so many of them - Zurek, Krupnik, Grzybowa, Grochowka, Barszcz, Rosol and many others,. Read about Milk Bars in Poland. Always great and very cheap place to try and visit
Amazing that you liked it, Wrocław is great city and your story about pierogi is just awww ❤ i'm from upper Silesia in Poland, which is not tourist region at all (very urbanistic and famous of its mines and industry in the past), but if you happen to be here you can see some great industrial monuments linked to its history, such as XIX century Guido coal mine in Zabrze or Silesian Museum in Katowice. Silesia also has multiple well preserved baronial palaces and castles (eg palace in Pszczyna is beautiful, it has some biggest preserved after WW II crystal mirrors in the whole Europe). You can also discover some interesting food which is common for this region - rolada, kluski śląskie i modra kapusta are worth trying - it's one dish 😄 wish you all the best in your future journeys!
Ah it sounds like such an amazing place!! The region I'm from in the US is actually very similar, it's known for its coal mining history (actually the Polish immigrants would often work in the coal mines!) I'd love to visit one day! Thank you for watching!!

STARY MŁYN is a franchise restaurant... dumplings are a national treasure :) If you were delighted with the dumplings in the market square, then... next time you visit, try the local ones, not the ones in the market square. I'm not saying they're bad... but they could be a few levels higher ;)
Oh I'm sure! Yeah I figured they were a chain AND in the center square, so if these were THAT good I can only imagine what else is out there. I just didn't have many options on Easter weekend 😂 I'll be back to try more! I can't wait! Thank you for watching!!

It also has a really cool detail of a polish peasant soldier (Wojciech Bartosz) holding a broken scythe and putting his headwear on russian cannon trying to extinguish it before it fires. (I won't tell you if he made it though, go check yourself) ;)
Go for it You won’t be sorry It’s amazing
Enjoy! :)

Ah this is so kind, thank you so much!! I hope they do! I am definitely planning to get back to Poland, there is so much more of it I haven't seen yet and the more research I do, the more eager I am to visit again! I really loved it! Thank you!
The oldest cities founded under Magdeburg law
Kalisz - 1257

Very good video and interesting discoveries :) I think Poland deserves more recognition. It's such a vast and diverse country. Definitely worth checking out.
Thank you so much!! I really did go in feeling like I would just "check it off", and now that I've visited I honestly want to explore it so much more. I've been researching Gdansk and Krakow and Warsaw and trying to decide which city to visit next. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!! 🙏🏻🇵🇱

Dużo tam atrakcji z tłumaczem (żywym lub elektronicznym) w języku angielskim. Sporo dowiesz się o korzeniach Polski. (Kraków kiedyś był stolicą Polski). Śląsk to też odrębna kultura. Koniecznie musisz spróbować "wizytówki Śląska", są to kluski śląskie, ciemna kapusta i rolada.

Your pronunciation of Wrocław is outstanding! It is my hometown, I was born and raised there but I've never heard foreigner pronouncing Wrocław that amazing way !
Ah thank you, I'm glad I did it justice! Definitely practiced a few times, but I'm glad people seem happy with the pronunciation!
It's my first time on this channel, but I'll say something meaningful here
Great pronunciation of Wrocław! (it's difficult for foreigners!!)
I'm glad that you started from Wrocław, my hometown!
