In Canada, the age to travel by greyhound bus alone and accompany children under that age is 15. 8-14 year olds may travel alone provided certain conditions are met. Otherwise, they must be accompanied by an adult 15 years or older. One of the conditions are that the trip may not exceed 5 hours which is even more severely limiting.
Thanks For the video, Tim. FYI, I'm 16 and have ridden the Greyhound many times even before I turned 16 by myself without paying the extra fee and filling out the form. It's funny because on the website, the language makes it sound as though Greyhound is serious about abiding by this policy, but when you get the station, the employees could not care less about your age, unless you obviously look like a toddler or a really young child who has run away. Lol
Yeah I figured they probably wouldn't enforce this policy very strictly but I wanted to make this video so people would know the actual rules just in case they come across that one Greyhound employee that goes by the book lol
Hey david im 16 and im going from united states to canada. and i wanted to know if i can book my ticket online and if i get there will they say anything to me. If i fill out the form do you think ill be fine. and could you tell me how u booked ur tickets. Also do i need any documents with me like my birth certificate etc. Thanks
which station did you leave to go to your destination from? because I am leaving from Jacksonville Florida and I am going to Tulsa Oklahoma. it has 3 transfers, did you have any transfers?
I'm 16 as of now and I'm trying to catch a greyhound but I'm aware of the employees who go by the book? Anybody age 16 ever ride the greyhound got any tips?
If you are traveling on the greyhound bus in the United States and you are under 17, always have someone 17 older accompany you whenever possible. That being said sometimes your kid just wants to see their grandparents or other relatives and no one 17 or older can accompany them. In that case, it would be very useful to know about the 12-16 group traveling alone. The conditions are very strict so do very close checking to see if that route is a route that meets the conditions for them to travel alone. However, if they are under 12, you will either have to cancel the trip or find someone 17 or older to accompany them. Keep that in mind. If your outside the US, check the policy for that country.
My 12yr old would need to go unaccompanied for a 4 hour trip. Would they put her in the front seat so the driver can keep an eye on her? I wouldn't want her to sit anywhere else in case there are any weirdos. And will the driver keep an eye on her the full trip? She doesn't have a state ID but she has a military dependent ID that has her birth date on it and her picture/name. Can that be used as her Identification?
my mom can't be there to give the information for being my guardian and I will be riding alone, she is working so my friend is taking me. my friend who is taking me is 17 years old can she fill out the information for the guardian? Or should I use my the person picking me up from the greyhound station to call and give the information? btw I am going from Jacksonville Florida to Tulsa Oklahoma it has 3 transfers do you think I would still be able to go?
You can’t go unless you accompanied by someone over 17. If that friend is going with you the whole time, you will be allowed to travel. If not then you may not on that route because the conditions to travel will not be met regardless of who signs the form even if it’s your parent over 21.
Any age can travel with an adult(17 or older). Did you mean without an adult? If so, then no because the trip will be more than 8 hours and it would be overnight. It takes about 1 day to drive their so if a car can’t get their their in under 8 hours, then a bus can’t either.
hi, would I like your help about greyhound's location. is there just one bus station in New York ? is this the address (625 8th Ave New York, NY 10018)? and it's necessary to print my ticket or just I can show it by my phone? thanks m advance
Hi, you may not know the answer to this but can you please at least respond? Every summer I visit my grandparents in Arizona, I live in Southern California. Typically my grandma would come out and then we would fly there. That's not happening this time and my parents are basically forcing me to go and I really really don't want to (I also get carsick and have very bad anxiety) , I know they don't have any specific policies about that but what do you say? Thanks! (Im 14)
my friend and i will be 16 when we are traveling, and we are unsure if her parent can be there go fill out the form. are we allowed for my mother to sign off for the both of us?
In 1977 at the age of 13, I was able to ride Greyhound from Baltimore to Pittsburgh and back two weeks later. Different world then.

@user-zn4nu8yu4g The duration is short enough but all the other conditions have to be met.

Yes
If your under 18 you shouldn't be able to ride alone. Their taking up seats for adults. Some can be unruly.
so are you saying that a 16 yr should be riding on their parents lap?
Ok boomer
Man shut up
Adults of any age can be unruly. There are unruly 70 year olds too.
NOT IF YOU PAY FULL FARE
Thanks
