I had one of these in 1971 when I was 16. Lived in Santa Clara California. Drove it up Highway 9 every weekend to go camping at the beach. Believe it or not my girlfriend and I did sleep in the back. A baby crib mattress fit perfect in the back. We both slept on that together. Awe young love LOL!!!
As a lover of modern architecture, this video was a feast. The backdrop of modernist/brutalist buildings really enhanced the subject van. Made perfect sense--urban car, urban setting--but stylishly so. Brilliantly done (as usual).
What an eloquent piece of art that serves both functionality and emotion! Would absolutely love one for road tripping! Thanks as always Petrolicious!!!!!!! My favorite channel!!!!!
This video really made me smile. A super sweet vehicle, an in love owner, and a rare example of music in an automotive or motorcycle video in which the music made it way better. Cheers.
He's not the only who loves these two stroke vans, there's a guy up in Portland, OR., who has a UA-cam channel - 2stroketurbo, he's mechanic with his own shop and he posts video all the time, He rebuilt one of these vans, a windowless junker to a daily driver, great videos.
Really enjoyed the cinematography in this video. Also who ever does the titles for your thumbnails is fantastic! Each one is so well designed for the topic of the video.
Currently sitting in my (dad's) garage right now is a 1980 Subaru Brat and a 1970 Subaru 360! You and my old man are like the exact same person! You both have the same love for vintage Subarus! How crazy is that!?
I proudly own a restored 1970 Subaru 360. I also have a 1972 Suzuki L40 Carry pickup which is lifted on "big" 22" tires! Both street legal and registered here in SoCal.
My younger brother had one of these. What a riot to drive ! To drive it to it's maximum ability you had to be very coordinated. 360 CC's had to be used very efficiently to not hold up traffic. I remember the shifter flexing as I shifted. It was a complicated dance, but then the Best always are .
Luke Skywalker Actually I know very little. What I do know however is that their first car was the 360, and from what I can remember it has a little air cooled, 2-stroke engine - hence the ringa dinga ding dong sound effects *;)* It was only in the later years when Boxer engines became the norm with their different length headers that the car gained it's classic well known deep grumble. Sounds good.
Brodie Bennett hahahaha I was just impersonating trump😂 But yes, subaru's first car was 360(san-roku-maru) which theoratically could fit four adults in the car.
The 360 van was my mom's only car for a couple of years back in the early 70s, dad's was the little 360 car, they are both in my family's home movies of us going places in the '70s.
One of these just came up for sale,(in Project-condition so cheap), in my area. Never even knew of them so wanted to look on here to check them out..Pretty Cool!
so at the 35 sec mark, I finally get a chance to somewhat see what you guys are shooting with through the reflections of the vehicle. I know theres a ronin, but I can't tell what camera is on it lol. I'm assuming a a7s of some sort.
To think that the Subaru 360 Buggy and Van were even smaller than the Volkswagen Beetle is quite mind-blowing. Subaru did have some very humble beginnings
Had a 69 model. Loved it. Bummer was parts were hard to find. Tires too. Sold a few years back. I miss it alot. It's how I taught myself to drive a stick. Glad they're around still. Got mine in .ca. Sold it in tx.
Scott is at the Scottsdale Pavilions McDonalds Hotrod car show almost every weekend here in AZ I def recommend checking it out! Sometimes he brings that cool BRAT too!
Using my wife's name with pic. Hi Scott thought that looked familiar, especially since are vans paint jobs are almost identical. The van I own was purchased from Ed, the Guru of Subaru's. He and his wife owned it for 40 years and was his daily driver. This is the third van I've owned since my dad gave me my first 360 sedan back about 1980. I love driving it. Only time I got intimidated in it driving on the freeway for 55 miles from Lancaster, CA to Santa Clarita on Christmas day. Slowest speed was 45 and fastest was 70mph thanks to a sedan rear end. Mark
One of the many perks of growing up in LA in the 60s-70s was the cornucopia of automobilia. 2 stroke 'Soobs' were not common but not unheard, or smelled, of.
It seems that Subaru had a preference for badges with script fonts back in its early days. I still remember the script font of the "front wheel drive" badge on the front fender of my grandfather's 1979 Subaru.
More of these please. There's enough exposure for your every day Porsche 356, but videos on weird stuff like this is what youtube sorely lacks.

These are the type of Petro vids I like the most :)
Bradley Greenwood I agree, much more interesting than a video about a rich guy buying a new car.
Yeah definitely, I love the Nissan pao one
Put a massive smile on my face, what a lovely automobile :)
Prefer videos about quirky vehicles like this over race cars anyday and was relieved that he didn't use the word "passion" once.
Unique and whimsical.
I enjoy watching this kinds of videos, the ones with neatly kept, one of a kind utilitarian rides!
1:05 that bmw looks like a predator approaching its prey.
Van : *smiling* *whistling*
BMW: " IMA GET YO ASSS BIAAAAAATTCCHH "
DivineRift lol; like a great white shark approaching!!
Your comment made my night. It seriously does look that way. Cue the Jaws theme music
G Michael Leonard I'd rather be in thw BMW then that $1.60 clown car.
G Michael Leonard Also I love Japanese cars. This stuff however cool it might be is Unsafe.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! Oh man......how this makes me smile. The weirder the better, and the jazz that starts it off. Absolute perfection for this dude.
Scott, thank you for preserving a car most people probably wouldn't consider worth looking at.
Videos like this are better than wathcing one with a Ferrari in my view.
South Hill Farm no way
yes!
May be it's because we get used to all these luxury sports cars. I don't think they are not interesting, but simply there are too much of them
I really want one of these to take my kids to school and the beach or run local errands...
As a lover of modern architecture, this video was a feast. The backdrop of modernist/brutalist buildings really enhanced the subject van. Made perfect sense--urban car, urban setting--but stylishly so. Brilliantly done (as usual).
We need more videos of this guy with all his other Subaru gems!! Please!!
What an eloquent piece of art that serves both functionality and emotion! Would absolutely love one for road tripping!
Thanks as always Petrolicious!!!!!!! My favorite channel!!!!!
The cinematography, the music, the car. PERFECTION.
This video really made me smile. A super sweet vehicle, an in love owner, and a rare example of music in an automotive or motorcycle video in which the music made it way better. Cheers.

Wow! Fantastic segment, downtown Phoenix looks great!
You guys did a very nice job choosing the music to complement the person and the car. Great video once again and thanks for sharing
...a most stylish and attractive little van, and snazzy music to match...i loved the video...thanks...
Really enjoyed the cinematography in this video. Also who ever does the titles for your thumbnails is fantastic! Each one is so well designed for the topic of the video.
What a magnificent little machine!
I would love to see one of these with a suzuki gsxr motor in it, made into a camper van!!!
日本でもなかなか見ないのにアメリカで愛されてるなんて感激です😄
これからも乗り続けて下さいね😃
This car made me smile
That's what a favorite car usually looks like. Noisy, hard to steer yet unique and ultimately charming

Saw some of these in my trip to Japan. Love classic Japanese cars.
I HAD TWO OF THE SUBARU 360 VANS AND TWO OF THE SEDANS .
I LOVED DRIVING THEM AND NEVER THOUGHT THEY WERE TOO LOUD OR SCARY .
Darn you Petrolicious... I was hoping my dream van would remain secret for at least another 5 years! Thanks for the price hike :P haha
Moving up the mirrors like that really looks good on that car :)
What a lovely automobile! Love the two stroke motor :-)
Simply petrolicious!
This thing reminds me of the vehicle Mr. Incredible uses... LOL I couldn't stop laughing viewing the vid! Good one Petrolicious!!!

My uncle has one. I get it when he dies. I got to drive it when I was 16, only once. 12 years later and I still remember that teeny machine.
The *original* sound of Subaru... _Ring ding ding ding ding!_
Brodie Bennett you people know a lot about subaru right? Ding ding dong dong
Luke Skywalker Actually I know very little.

I guess it depends on the size of the adults ;-)
Michael Westen well, average adult in japan in 1960s
Thank you Scott. Never knew these existed. Beautiful little van... After the VW... Subaru!
Now that's a true "Mini van"!
Cool and quirky car in what looks to be the perfect environment to preserve it.
Great vid, Petrolicious.
This is so cute!!! I do not know how large a motorcycle engine it could fit, but thinking a 1000cc one would be hilarious fear and fun!!
I first thought it was an VW Van. Wow I'm in love for sure.
I just love the filmography in every video you guys put out and I love this car , reminds of the oldschool vw kombi but smaller
I love the micro cars. The owners are a different breed altogether and are happy to divulge the shortcomings of their chosen one.
This was great. I bet you could fit a lot of clowns in this 360. Thanks for posting this lesser seen vehicle.
This is on my bucket list to collect. Gorgeous.
I thought that dude was big or something at first, but holy shit that thing is smaller than a Volkswagen Beetle!
The beetle isn't really small though, I'd say the Sanbar (the 360 van here), is the size of a Fiat 600 probably.
Yes! More affordable classics!
I love your storytelling.
Nice video and great collection of old Subaru's Scott
The 360 van was my mom's only car for a couple of years back in the early 70s, dad's was the little 360 car, they are both in my family's home movies of us going places in the '70s.
Fantastic car! Wooow! Beautiful video. Take care for this beautiful small car. So happy to see this video! Well done dude! :)
I most like Pretolicious videos that make me smile. This is obviously one of them. :)
Thats one cute little Subi!
Would love to see his other Subaru cars.
Love how it has racing stripes ! That's what you call commitment :D
One of these just came up for sale,(in Project-condition so cheap), in my area.
Never even knew of them so wanted to look on here to check them out..Pretty Cool!
That thing is sick. I want 12 of them asap. Lol
Very good video! I love the music choice!
Amazing cinematography!
How can you not smile looking at this?
All the best to you Scott! You have a lovely van n it looks like you deserve it too😊

First time I've seen the streets of Phoenix, really beautiful city.
The suggested list after watching this video is brilliant!
Fantastic! A car from another time.
Driving was necessary then, today it is just simple transportation.
Great shots of Phoenix
Perfect soulful video, as always!! Great Subaru, also! :)
Wow, you actually made Phoenix look interesting and nice. Kudos. Sweet van.
Wonderful van! Thanks for sharing 🌵
Beautiful, thought it was a VW van at first glance. Old cars sure had character.
Scott is at the Scottsdale Pavilions McDonalds Hotrod car show almost every weekend here in AZ I def recommend checking it out! Sometimes he brings that cool BRAT too!

Instant big smile w first shot of him driving it.
Such a lovely, cute, charming little car. Wow.

I got tagged on instagram on a screenshot of this videos thumbnail back in march. Good to finally see what the video is
他の車と並ぶと、やっぱり小さい(*^_^*)
大事に乗っていらっしゃる様子で、ピカピカなのが分かります。
街並みに赤が映えて、お洒落ですね。
I appreciate this channel for showcasing the many different types of cars that it does.
Petrolicious came to my back yard, and I wasn't there. Hope you guys liked Phoenix, it's nice this time of year.
Gorgeous condition. Absolutely love it
Thanks for sharing this video. Loved it!
Awesome video! I've heard of the Subaru Sambar 360. I've only seen one in person. It's a shame that Subaru discontinued the micro car.
This van is so tiny and cute that make me want to pet it
No sabía que había una furgoneta del Subaru 360. Preciosa!!!
It's pretty awesome. Well done!
What a nice little Subaru 😎👍
I want the STI version .
That made my day❤️..other car is a brat.. This guy is winning.
First thing I thought of was 2stroketurbo, he's got a couple of Subaru Vans and a couple of 360 coupes. A DKW 3=6 or two as well.
Would have been so cool to have one when they first came out. Very cute and simple
Met the gentt at the Scottsdale Pavilions car show, very genuine car guy.
It seems that Subaru had a preference for badges with script fonts back in its early days. I still remember the script font of the "front wheel drive" badge on the front fender of my grandfather's 1979 Subaru.
Love microcars... thanks for sharing!
This is the hero we need
That's a cute little van.
I really like the sound at idle. Sounds like a little race car ready to take on the grocery store
He seemed like a happy fella!
He Sure like Bob Parr/ Mr. Incredible in those lil' Subaru doesn't he? :D Great Video as always
What a cute little thingy. And totally appropriate for a guy who's probably something like 6'4''.
