I think you're on the right track by saying that the size of the character affects their attack ranges. Like what you said about rataskor having the longest attack range among the melee, kephri, who is the biggest character (ie. largest hitbox), has the shortest range. And I think aphro having the longest range has to do with the length of her weapon.
Yeah I was thinking Aphrodite's staff gave her more range as well. My main question is if it was intentional. If not this is a cool thing to have in. I'd love to see it expanded apon, I.E buffs or nerfs.
I noticed this too in a game once, I was playing Neith and I was boxing Chiron, he couldn't hit basic attacks on me when i was at max range. I thought that maybe he was just missing, this cleared things up. I guess it makes sense that Neith would have a longer range, since she's supposed to be the easiest god to play,

they said back in the beta that the reason aphro has a larger attack range is because the staffs length effected it. when someone asked if they were going to change it they said they were happy to have her with the longest range, there was no justification. on a side note, i don't really think it matters, just a cool little quirk with the character.
Isnt that easily tested with a test like you did in the beginning...just use 1 side normal skin and 1 side different...if you find even one that is different then it,s valid...and shot animation doesn,t really matter as long as the distance is the same or not
The range is equal however, hit boxes can be all over the place, rat has a large range because of the smallest hit box, meaning he is farther behind his basic attack, and khepri has short range, as his huge hit box makes little room between the front of the hit box and the edge of the basic attack range. Similarly, Chiron is a horse, more hit box in the front less range, and ullr stands sideways with the bow far in front of him compared to other gods, Aphrodite's hit box is leaning really far back which helps her as a back line. Autos are launched from a center point this is just a measure of how far forward the hit box extends. Awilix is interesting though, as her hit box moves forward 2 units when she strikes and back 2 units I between strikes so logically if you can step into and out of your autos at a decent range of your target as if using an actual spear you should be able to box a melee fighter super effectively. Making you out of range in between strikes.

Roughly 90% of the characters in Smite utilize the exact same hitbox, so it only plays a role for the few who don't, whereas you can see from the table chart that there's a much larger variety of ranges.

i noticed this along time ago when i 1st started playing my 1st god i got good with was artemis and i played assault one day and got medusa and noticed her range is very very bad compared to artemis
So how can I be better at closer ranged deities? So far I've mastered Neith, Nu Wa, & Bastet. I'm better with Neith and Nu Wa because they're farther ranged but when I'm Bastet I get killed more because I'm still not used to fighting with a shorter range like hers. I always get gang raped in the center of chaos of the battle.
And I thought I was going crazy when Apollo was hitting me outside of my attack range as AMC.

Aphrodite has a longer attack range because her staff is extremly long so the projectile leaves her staff at the edge which is an extra couple feet.
That actually makes a lot of sense, makes me wonder why Hades is so much lower though.

It would be cool to have different gods of the same class have different basic attack ranges. This could be used to balance some hunters too.

As an awilix main i can say to you after you use your featherstep you can't miss any basic.

hadezmage not necessarily its probably that they are projectiles that travel through stuff you still have to touch their hitbox
