Annihilator Broadhead Review

  • After seeing how ArcheryTalk viewers reacted to the Annihilator broadhead preview video we shot at the ATA Show, we decided to grab a couple of packs and do our first ever broadhead test with the Annihilators.
    In this test, we looked at how these heads fly with field points, what kind of holes they leave in both plywood and a pork roast, how they reacted to torture testing, and how easily they can be sharpened and brought back into shooting shape again.

    I used these on a recent wild boar hunt. Anyone who has hunted boar knows they are tough. My arrow went through the shoulder hitting the lung and came out the other side. It did not go all the way through but it did make for easy tracking. I was very impressed by its results especially for pig.

      I live at the bottom of the mountain from you near Tyrone pa.. closer to port Matilda. I shot a big doe last yr with one of these heads and it looked like a sharp golf ball went through it. She walked about 20 yards a fell over. My dads jaw hit the ground. I was so blessed to have been able to be with my dad in the woods and was lucky enough to kill a deer. It all happened so fast and my arrow drove into the ground 10 inches, my dad thought I missed until she fell over right in front of us. Made me a hug believer. I shot them beside my bishop scientific method heads and they penetrated alittle deeper and flew just as good maybe better. I bought a new pack of 125s for this year and cant wait to start hunting Saturday. Good luck this year and I really enjoy your videos too

      Took both my bucks this year with them along with 4 pigs 1 turkey and a ram all since January. They are devastating and leave a serious wound channel in the animal. I even had a alittlw far back ahot on my last deer this year and with the way the head is designed it caused alot of issues with the deer, before i could make a follow up shot. Had I been shooting a different fixed blade I truly believe I wouldnt have been able to get a follow up shot

    To start with, sweet creamery butter!! For what you pay these broad heads are holding up stunningly well! And the fact they can be resharpened is extremely appealing to me. Means hopefully you get lots of mileage out of them.
    Are these compatible with crossbows?
    I’m mostly still researching and was told “mechanical broadheads for whitetail and fixed broad head for larger game.
    And would these work for moose or would you need the annihilator XL for bigger critters?

    Nice video! I am looking for new broad heads and your video is definitely making me consider the annihilator. Can you share which target you have there in the background? Looks like it handles field and broadhead tips well. Also noticed the molding that looks like the deer vital organs on the side. That’s exactly what I need. Tried using a foam target and it came apart after just a couple weeks use.

    • @ArcheryTalkVideo
      @ArcheryTalkVideo  3 роки тому +1

      That is a Rinehard RhinoBlock XL. There is an insert that I normally use for broadheads as it can be replaced. It was shot out during the video, so I was using other spots. There are two different sides with deer vitals showing. Two sides (narrower) with just spots, and two sides where you can shoot the insert. It's a great target, but some fixed heads really chew it up fast. The Annihilators aren't so bad to it, though.

    My theory is 1) fixed blade all the way, 2) deep V looking blade is way better than a short bladed broad head, it will never have the penatration as a deep V blade cause the short one has a hard time to get the penetration, it has to go from a point to what ever the width is. Where a long V broad head starts at the point and gradually, enters the hide and flesh to the with of the head therefor you will get deeper penitration which in reality, won't matter cause it will blast right threw the deer anyway. Shooting plastic bags with water means absolutely nothing, the projectile your shooting is not a bullet its an arrow and if any broad head can not shoot threw a plastic bag with water do you should throw that head away.

    The broadhead didn’t get to show its full potential in the cinderblock because of the arrow failure. Build an arrow that will hold up to that sort of test and you will have better results as far as seeing what the broadhead will do and how much torture it can truly withstand. I just shot a doe with this head and very satisfied with it. Not much for blood which is to be expected on such a small head but the deer was down in 40 yards.

      Unless I'm shooting a piece of rebar with a broadhad welded on it, I'm not sure I can find a more durable arrow than the Gold Tip Kinetic Kaos. That thing is a tank and holds up great...so long as you don't shoot it at concrete blocks.

      ArcheryTalk Hi there, I just think those are the 2 big question marks we heard all the buzz about. There was a UA-cam video that confirmed some of the rumours and the Annihilator heads took a nose dive in the video when shot at further distances then the video was “corrected” a short time later and another video was done showing different results. I think you doing a video on this could be great as it would help the broadhead if they are as advertised and help the industry if it’s all marketing. You wouldn’t need to be super accurate, just show that it was relatively close. I know myself as a customer is not buying one until those rumours are put to rest. The hype around those broad heads was crazy and I hope they are as good as they say. I want to shoot one, if they are that good. I do love your channel Archery talk and love the content.
