Thats awsome. Make sure you always use safety gear, pay attention, and if you're tired its best to stop and come back when you're rested. It's easy to make mistakes when you're tired and making a mistake with woodworking tools can get you injured very quickly. Have fun.

This is a great channel to get started with! My recommendation is to get into the woods classes at school, and then sneak woods/caninetry into your electives credits in college. Find friends who know what they're doing and work with them (or just your buddies!). Join a Makerspace if you don't have the tools, because for a small monthly fee, you can get everything you need. And then pick a project, design it (make sure you write down your cuts and visualize your steps, so you don't have to redo much), then go for it! Don't use expensive woods at first, so you don't waste good wood on bad designs.

This is without a doubt my favorite video you’ve ever done. Congrats on all your success and being such an amazing person. I’m so glad I found your channel and you’ve inspired me to get into woodworking. My dad was a veteran who struggled with alcoholism and depression before the combination of the two took him from us when my siblings and I were just kids. He was also a mechanic but he just loved doing things with his hands and was amazing at building things. As a kid I never cared for any of that stuff, my passion has always been sports. But now over a decade later I find myself wanting to learn the things that he would’ve taught me and it bums me out I didn’t take more in from him while I had the chance. Watching UA-cam channels like yours has really helped bridge that gap for me. I still have a lot to learn but I’d be clueless if it weren’t for channels like yours. So again, thank you John for being such an amazing person. Also I bought a few raffles from the Kevin Love foundation thing, another guy who’s a huge inspiration to me. I found you during the pandemic, and you helped save me from myself during 2020. So, thank you. Your talent and humor carried me through some dark ass times. As a man who believes deeply in the need for better mental health education and support, I was sincerely impressed by this campaign and put up my cash for the 2,000 entries. If I win the Bronco, I'm driving it straight to PA. I'll bring whiskey.
I'm older than you, and despite coming from two families who worked well with their hands, I'd never believed I could build anything at all. Regardless, with a lot more free time, I spent this year learning as much as I could. I'm still a rank novice, but I love the craft. While I doubt I'll ever be at your level of actual talent, I can compete when it comes to getting squirrelly. In fact, that's about all I do.
In any case, you are an amazing man, have taught me much, and have helped me connect with my younger son (who believes your b-roll montages are, in his words, "very satisfying.")
Thanks for being an inspiration, a giver, and the kind of man I'm proud to hold up as an example for my boys.

I completely disagree, I think sharing stories like this only fosters more giving and more charity. I bet a lot of people are doing some good right now after watching that.

This is awesome man. I started building my own stuff last year. Went through a divorce and needed a bunch of stuff. I'm a teacher and our Principal let's us use the shop with our own materials. Decided to refinish first. Tv stand, kitchen table, etc. Then decided to build my own loft beds for my boys. Watching your stuff gives me new ideas everyday. Time to start doing cutting boards!

I've not been following this channel for more than a handful of weeks (though I've seen some of you folks' videos throughout the last year or so every so often, but not religiously as I have been in recent weeks)

Looks can be deceiving, and having suffered from depression & anxiety since I was 13 (I'm 25 these days) it's... Nice to see. So John, dude, I respect you a whole lot more now than I already did.
