It's crazy how much better your audio sounds in newer videos than some of the older ones. As a new fan that didn't realize how good I had it, thank you for getting better audio equipment.
I bought your plans and am using them (modified small for my space) and am buying the same saw. I think you are one of the most fun woodworkers to watch. Your enthusiasm and humor help motivate me. Be well and stay safe.
i love this so much! This dude is the perfect mixture of Patriot, Craftsman, Idiot, Genius and lovable person. I can tell the dude knows what he´s doing, but things like building doors too big and then sanding them down until they fit seems like implementing extra steps to use more tools, because it´s more fun. I always just used to buid them to size.
I like how you just knocked this up. My sister trained as a furniture maker, she would never be able to do this! And the attention to detail shows how passionate you are, few people would build something like this for their workshop!
That's a mighty fine chop station ya got there. I like that stop block track system, clean and simple. I think a nice addition would be to inlay a ruler on each side, one that reads left to right and one that reads right to left. Because even with all that storage, you know damn well you're gonna find yourself searching for that tape measure that likes to always disappear.
@@multidinero yeah, but if you have the money, Festool is literally the best thing you can buy on the market for power tools, they will last you for a lifetime
@@sharpskull2476 I’ve owned most of my DeWalt tools for years without incident. great video and a really cool setup. I actually think the curved piece might be hurting your dust collection, I know its to keep the airflow close to the saw, but i think its also acting as a deflector guiding the chips up and away from the vacuum ports before the suction can slow them down. if you just had the square box with the downdraft the chips wouldn't have such an easy path out and many would hit the back top, slowing them down and letting the suction grab hold
I know this is a joke but for the three people in the world who don't actually get it, you don't need festool tools to do this stuff, they are just awesome.

I have the same saw and built a similar box around mine, ended up building doors that attach with magnets to focus the dust collection behind the blade. Dan Pattison also had a video improving the DC on the same saw.
Dan's mod includes altering the dust port and the boot behind the blade. Very effective mods! I have both on my Bosch Glide; big improvement. Go to a 90 - 100 tooth blade as well to cut down the scatter-- huge difference.

You are brilliant, and so talented. And maybe a little hammy. ;). Love the drawer face cutouts and the sliding doors here…I always walk away from your videos with some kind of inspiration and ideas…thanks for sharing. Just building my first shop… ;)
A lot of people on UA-cam that have carpentry channels don’t really sound like they know what their doing. But you sound like you know a lot, when I build stuff I watch your videos for some inspiration for joints, braces etc. Keep up the amazing work your super funny and entertaining
I love the grain and edge detail you paid attention to for your cabinets. I'm always blown away by woodworkers on UA-cam ignoring details like that. For your dust collection though I can't help but feel like you would have way more success in terms of overall dust capture if you brought the dust collection in from the top since your current design is fighting the natural upward flow of the miter saw's dust port.
I love the part when you are like “ you dont need any fancy tools” and then there’s a bunch of shots of Festool, and woodpecker items. I laughed out loud. Not sure if it was on purpose or not 😂 Great videos! Great miter station!
Love watching your videos. I used to do woodworking for 4-H with my grandpa when I was in high school. Watchkng your videos has got me back into doing it again. Thank you for that and all the great ideas and advice you have shared as well!
My normal routine: "I cut this board 3 times and it is still too short!" That is why I need lots of Kreb and Bora things, aside from being a man and that is what we do, the right tool makes things easier. That includes setting up a shop so it is awesome.
Love the concept, was thinking about something similar and wanted to see if anyone had already done it. You win. One thought, throw an elbow and maybe a short length of hose onto the out port to encourage the dust toward the table. It may already be there, hard to tell in the final shots
I got a hold of some of the clear plastic/rubber strips they use on walk in freezers and use that to frame around my miter saw. It keeps the dust in but easily moves out of the way when swinging or tilting the saw.
Bad ass build as usual! I appreciate that you don't take yourself too serious but brother you have mad skill! Thank you for sharing another segment of your life and talent. I am in need of a miter saw station, this looks perfect. Have a great week!!
I love the build. I Love the long video. And I love the fact that I spent 20 minutes observing what a grown man with ADD looks like. Now I know what my friends mean when the speak about me... 🤪🤪
John. Love your videos and yet another great project. If you pause your video at 9:28, you'll see that the small black deflector installed on your saw is kicking the dust upward, away from your new dust collection. If you can, I'd remove that deflector. Also, you have a lot of open area for dust collection with all of your slots, which slows down the air velocity, and actually decreases the effective collection area of your dust collection. I know, sounds counter intuitive but trust me, I do air handling engineering in my everyday job. I'd try using some masking tape to cover a few of your slots to see if you can get the air velocity increased, which will give you better dust collection. Good luck, and keep the videos coming! Bill
I had an Uncle who LOVED eating lemons, and an occasional raw onion. As strange as it may sound, both are jam packed with antioxidants, and no, I would never eat either. 25:50 I think the handicap in your dust collection is the slots you cut in the plywood to serve as a grill for the duct collection. It does look very restrictive, the slots are fairly narrow and pretty widely spaced out.. I would cut that entire section of plywood out, route in a rabbet, maybe 1/4 inch deep and 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide, whatever works best for you, around the edge of the new hole, and lay in a piece of expanded steel (get it at any hardware store or big box store) and secure it with a few screws. Your dust collection will greatly improve.
Interesting idea for the down draft table. But can’t help notice that your aren’t using the dust chimney. Dust collection would improve if you’d hook it up to a secondary hose. Love the builds sorry if this has already been brought up.

I have the same saw and have used a hose to collect the dust. Seemed to do ok to me. Your down draft would work better if the saw wasn’t sitting 4” above it- impossible I get it. I’m in the process of building a miter station. I may modify your down draft idea. Love the videos!!

Just stumbled on your channel, love it so far. I would recommend a face plate for the dust box, cut out just enough that your saw comes through it freely (use cardboard for an easy template). The better enclosed that box is, the more suction you will have for the dust to be pulled in.
@@John_Malecki Bud- I'm sorry to say you're gonna have to re-dub the 1st minute or so. @John Malecki Just a suggestion on the saw...I have the same one and removed the dust port completely. For me anyway this keeps the dust down lower and not up and out the dust chute. Still isn't perfect but might help you a little.
