With all due respect John, your chair looks like something that barely survived a house fire. Sam and Jordan, you got robbed. Anyway, love the videos, edutainment at its best!!
John's chair looks like it might have been a cool throne before the castle caught fire 🔥. It's definitely looks as if it's been pulled from wreckage!
It would have looked much better if he had stained it and maybe thrown in some forest colours to accent the whole "carved from a tree" vibe he was going for.

My guy I’ve got a cool idea for a series.
3 levels of X but with a twist.
Jordan is allowed to use all high level shop tools
Sam can use the intermediate stuff
Then you’re only allowed beginner DIY tools, ryobi circular saw, impact, drill, cheap chisels etc etc
All 3 if you make the same thing, but with different levels of tools

Love them both for very different reasons. John's is fun and whimsical and took a lot of manual labor, but S&J's is clean and modern. I'd love a set of 4 of Sam & Jordan's for my deck!

John you should have done a Shou Sugi Ban finish instead of paint. That throne would look good around the fire pit on your deck.
Yeah the lads got robbed on this one. The carved throne is f'n awesome, but theirs was an actual nice chair that someone would actually use. Awesome work all around though!

I like both chairs.. but with a good thick color matching pillow to soften the seat/my rear end, I would take the Throne into my game/play/collection room.
I gotta say artistically I like the first one a lot, but if it comes to putting something in my house - I chose the second one.
I commented in the first challenge that I didn't like how the plywood layers are visible everywhere in the second table and that made it look worse for me. I think this time you both did an amazing job hiding the plywood!

Love this series! The images of your hand made me have flashbacks to my own hand injury though which admittedly made my stomach flip. Glad to see youre alright though with no permanent damage done

That Jordan man. Give him a couple years to get faster at some of these things and there will be no stopping him. Also the first time I heard Dug Fir called a hardwood.
Both chairs are awesome. johns for the craftsmanship and the guys have the best design. Only one thing i kinda miss on that chair is something for the lowerback or to keep a pillow on that surface. But damn it looks good.
These challenges are the best videos on your channel. And that is saying a lot.
Gotta go with Sam and Jordan here. I would have given it to you if you did some dry brushing with silver and white paint on top of the black to add detail.
Up until the finish I was certain John would win, but when he just painted the whole chair black without any brighter parts or fading, I thought the youngsters would claim the throne.
But only until I saw their coloring choice. Playwood can be so aesthetic, why cover it in white? Just apply a coat of clear matte varnish and it will be an eyecatcher.
Honestly thought the boys were gonna squeeze one out there.

Sorry John I like the number 2 chair. It's practical looks like something that could be used in a room or on the patio. Number one usefulness stops at stage prop for Game Of Thrones on Broadway.

What kind of bondo do y'all use to fill in wood? I went to the store last week and saw that bondo did have two options, one is the original of course. The other was one specifically for wood.

Your throne would have been more awesome being Shu Sugi Ban (or however it's spelled) and then a faux distressed look on it with grey as the base and a brass color top.

That "throne" would look a lot more reasonable if you sanded off the black from the high spots and used a more natural brown for a bark-like effect. Still pretty ridiculous and badass though.

Power tools can be down right dangerous even when your being careful. My dad was using a rotary sander, it got away from him and without thinking he reached to catch it, sanded a large chunk of his palm and the tip of two fingers right away. Lots of blood and he has a little shorter finger and pinkie on one hand now.
