My remote will not turn on the Shield. I have to use the tv remote to turn it on. Once it is on, the Shield remote will work fine, and WILL turn it off, just not on. Nvidea has been unable to help with this issue. It would be nice to have a mute button on the remote. Also, the LED light never changes. It doesn't indicate, no matter what I change in settings, that it has been turned on. It is always a dull green. My original Shield stopped streaming after 10 months, and they sent me another Shield (refurbished) that works fine, except for the issues mentioned above. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?
I connected a Kingston disk on key then I formatted it and it took a lot of time and still not finished I removed it from the streamer during the formatting and still a message appeared that he formatted then I removed the streamer from the power and everything is fine now it is not terrible I removed the power while the streamer was running?

One important thing you forgot about to mention is about life TV do I get my local channel about video library did I have access to all TV show and movies or not
If you get your live TV from a cable provider then know you would not use this to access live TV. This is more meant for cord-cutting and streaming services.
You quickly went through Location on Device Settings, and my question is, if you have installed a VPN, can you change your visible location when accessing an app, or are you locked in to your ISP location?
I am not saying that if you use a VPN you can take a trip to Canada or Europe or some other place that is not your home location. Which could be useful in viewing Netflix in an area that has shows that you might not have access to in your home location. I'm not saying that I tested this and it worked.
I'm not as familiar with that box however if you're just looking for a performance increase for streaming IPTV via the app I don't think you're going to see enough of a performance boost to Warrant upgrading.
I wud say if you have a dedicated home cinema with Dolby AV receiver buy shield but if you just want sam smart futures on your smart tv just go for rouku

very good video indeed. Maybe you can help me with the below Questions. Question 1. i just bought this 2 days ago , Are you able to tell me how can i turn wifi on and or off as i dont want it to be permanently on when not using it, is there suppose to be a wifi icon on the home screen where you can click it like on android phone where you click it on / off ? Question 2 , i have a ext Portable HDD plugged into the usb port with all my movies on it , my movies are categorized like comedy in comedy folder action in action folder ect... so when i plug my hdd in all i want to see are the folders of my movies like stated, but i noticed when i plugged my hdd into the shield, the shield created about 4 other folders named recycle_Bin , Android , Lost dir , and Nvidia shield, i really dont want to see these and have them on my hdd, is there a way to have these not show or be hidden permanently? and why are they there ?
So the user interface on this is a little different than a cell phone so you're not going to see that toggle to turn the Wi-Fi on and off. Are they streaming box it assumes you want to be connected to Wi-Fi all the time so you can actually stream. As for the folders that it created on your hard drive it kind of needs those in order to function connected to the shield.
I love Plex I've been using it for years. The Nvidia Shield does a good job of acting as its own Plex server. You just have to use a external hard drive that is formatted to use only with the Nvidia Shield.
Does anyone know if the new 2019 Shield tv pro still has a 3.5" hd bay built in? I am guessing no given how thin and small the box is. Or can you only add a hd now with an external usb enclosure?

I'm tired if this crap! So if nvidia shield can download all the apps I will certainly buy one!! Oh yeah and will nvidia shield play atmos ,hdr and will it play 5.1 where most apps only play stereo????
HBO Max is currently not supported by Roku or Amazon Fire stick. Nvidia Shield is an Android TV box which currently does support HBO Max and just about every other streaming service that I've tried. Also does support Dolby Atmos.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Disney+ does not deliver Atmos unless you have a 4k video device. I have a Roku Ultra and got the NVidia Shield Pro specifically to have Atmos on Netflix, support for HBO Max, and assumed I would have the same Disney+ user experience on it that I have on Roku Ultra. Unfortunately, the only way for Disney to deliver Atmos on Android TV's Disney+ is to also have full 4k video. Netflix delivers Atmos now (and does not on Roku), HBO Max works great and I got rid of my HBO Now subscription, but Disney+ only gives Dolby D 3/2.1. Still can't ditch the Roku...FWIW, I have a 7.1.4 Atmos setup with an Anthem MRX1120 working quite spectacularly with any Atmos source even when it is compressed for streaming. these are just repacked and upgraded old 2015 models if you ask me. still waiting for a android tv box, that has 2.1 HDMI output + 1 or 2 hdmi input ports and bluetooth 5.0. that would be ideal for my hue lights to sync with my tv via lets say consoles. nonetheless this device is the most solid streaming device on the market for 4k 60fps HDR. i have hear a so called "award winning" tanix tx6s, but it pretty much sucks at 4k 60fps. Hue stream app works great though, with 1080p, but thats not what i want.
No these are both paid services. However if you have Verizon for your cell phone provider or home internet / TV provider they do tend to have benefits of paying for these services along with the Verizon service.
Done well. You've sold me. Now for a quick quiz.... What's the largest capacity USB HDD (or NAS) it will recognise? Do the USB ports have the guts to power TWO portable drives? Is there a limit to how many times you can use the word "actually" in a review? :-)
Actually there is not... There is No literature About the maximum capacity Drive that can be used . I have a 5 terabyte drive But I tested and that works . However that's the largest I have at my disposal . There is enough juice to support two drives As I tested it with two 5 terabyte drives spinning at the same time .
since the teamviewer version that i tried with andriod-tv only allows viewing (no remote keyboard or remote mouse) does this have a VNC server function for me to connect via a computer to remotely troubleshoot with ?
You really would not in my opinion. This is a streaming device first gaming peripheral second. PlayStation is a gaming console first streaming peripheral second.

Does this Nvidia Shield TV Pro basically turn my older smart TV into a smarter Android TV?
That is one way to look at it.
Is NOW TV available to download within the play store? I see it's available on my android phone and if it's available through the play store with the Nvidia I may be sold on it.
It does not appear that now TV is a downloadable Android TV app.
NO AT&T TV Now and it is the reason I returned mine.
Could you not get the Now tv and the AT&T tv on aurora play store if you install it on the shield tv?
NOW tv is shit, I just cancelled my subscription with them!
I have 4k samsung 65 inch tv....is it worth to buy this sheild tv pro.....kindly advice!
If you are looking for a set top streaming box this is at the top of the list.
Am I gonna feel a performance difference on exchanging my Xiaomi S box with Nvidia shield regarding Iptv streaming and other apps
I'm not as familiar with that box however if you're just looking for a performance increase for streaming IPTV via the app I don't think you're going to see enough of a performance boost to Warrant upgrading.
I wud say if you have a dedicated home cinema with Dolby AV receiver buy shield but if you just want sam smart futures on your smart tv just go for rouku
is the netflix button programmable for other services?
It is not.
How is the AI upscaling compared to the Amazon Cube? I'm thinking of making the switch. Is it worth it? I have a Sony 4K 900 series tv.
Sorry I can't speak to have a AI upscaling on this compares to the Amazon Cube. I don't have the cube so I can't test it alongside this.
i cant compare either, but have you noticed when Ai set to medium or high it actually puts a shiney whitish line or border around the whole outside of the screen , right where the bezels are.
Can you use a shield to mirror you pc to the living room to access files and desktop?
www.reddit.com/r/theNvidiaShield/comments/42yg2x/how_to_mirror_pc_to_shield_without_gamestream/
Can you run 4k HEV .265 files/movies from Usb?
It should, but I do not have any files that I can test to know for sure.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews we just built a home cinema with klipsch speakers and denom avr, don't know if we should get a shield or a blueray. Which one do you recommend?
@@joefrancio3411 That depends on you and your media needs. For myself I have most of my DVDs digitized and part of a Plex server. I also use things like Netflix and Hulu for my TV watching. For me the shield is my go to. If you have physically media like BlueRays I would go with the player. Most have apps for Netflix. While not great it can get the job done.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Oh ok thanks for all the help and amazing review 💖 I have most of my movies on a hard drive so I would probably just get the shield ahah
Sorry for asking but this box have a browser like opera, or mozilla to find different apps which are not in google play? Like example i`m using an app called Cool TV, or YouTv, can i install this on this box?
Thanks
Cooltv no. I do see two different youtv that are available.
Thank you very much. Unfortunately lime tv is not working. Youtv as well but cool Tv no.
I just got one of these and my only real issue is having to manually select DD Vision. I would like to see this automatically happen in future updates.
You set it once into the settings and it auto switch to dolby vision...
The Nividia Shield TV Pro does not support many google app such as AT&T TV now but strange enough it supports HBO Max, Sling, Hulu, Disney+ and of course UA-cam TV.
Why is it nobody uses eSATA ports any more? USB 3.0 is so very SLOW!
can you use a xbox controller to game
Any Bluetooth controller will work
very good video indeed.
Great video with details. Question: Am I able to run IPTV on this box? If yes, does it comes with any player like Mytvonline? Thx
Both can be gotten from the App Store.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Thank you
why hdr on auto if u dont have hdr tv?
Just because.
What is your experience with Plex. Does it work well as a server from the NVIDIA shield below .....love the vid
It does not. Can plug an external hard drive tho
Great review! Question ... Can I stream live local and other games on this device?
You can but you will need an extra service for it: www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce-now/
Arm Cortex-A77 CPU good in SHIELD ..android 10 ,6-8GB LPDDR6,extra cooling
None of that would fit inside of a shield.
Plus, it wouldn't be cost effective. You realize that'd be atleast double the price, for an android TV??
Getting mine in 2 days. Feeling like I've wasted 3 years of my life on my Android Nexbox A95x. 8/16. Can't wait for my Nvidia TV Pro !! Tech changes to fast!!
lol..what were you using Prior..
I'm still using the 2017 INvidia Pro
( it works Great )
Can you use video conference zoom through this?
It does not look like it.
Are there any streaming apps that cant be downloaded to nvidia shield? The reason I ask is because I'm looking for a streaming box that doesn't have issues with not being able to play nice with certain apps! Like for example: roku cant download hbo max!
NVIDIA shield is the most supported device for apps.
How about Spectrum TV app? I just bought the Shield TV but still can’t figure out how to add Spectrum

Best is always a BluRay disc, but that's to be expected.
I have one to use as a dedicated Plex server and it works really well
@Nelson Mendes There are a bunch of youtube videos showing how to set it up with Plex I suggest you find a good one and watch before trying to set yours up.
Is this capable of continuous streaming, as I got rid of my standard TV box. So all my household does is stream everything most of the day continuously
Since I've been working from home I have actually had it up and streaming 16 plus hours in a day.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews thanks. This helps alot. We stream and only stream. No more sky boxes, so no more TV licence either. Streaming and won't have ut any other way. Currently using firstick and it does lag a bit even though I have the new 1 gig virgin broadband speed
I have been a stream only household for over 9 years now. A little adjustment at first. Now I could not imagine just watching TV.
No hdr with youtube?
Nope. I don't know why Nvidia won't support vp9 p2
Wonder how good it would run minecraft
Seeing that it has a 1.3GHz gpu, and a 2GHz gpu, it should be able to handle minecraft, or even various other games, like the more basic roblox games.
Toblerone is a fun word to say
Very nice review. Unless I missed it is there a limit to the size of an External HD that works. Is an NAS a better option than an 8TB External HD? Thank you for your thoughts.
No I didn't mention a limit so you didn't miss it as far as I can see from the documentation and what I've found online it does not appear that there is a limit.
do you have to pay for Netflix movies or are they free?
You pay for a Netflix subscription but then can watch everything that you want.
I want a device that I can watch live tv and also has an internet browser... what do you recommend?
Best bet for that would be the Amazon Firestick: ua-cam.com/video/T0jsbCibjq4/v-deo.html. Just keep in mind for live tv you would need a subscription to a service.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Or buy a OTA DVR that works with your streaming device, I have a fire recast paired with a firestick
Do dolby atmos work in kodi with Remux rips?
no, but you can use plex to stream form your main pc to shield or put on USB and play it directly on shield using
VLC media player
I really liked the previous model and interface before update, then have a super hype on rumor of the new one and after 1st shi update kick in then the new model was a flop for me...
Hi. Nice video. Does Disney+ support Dolby Atmos and Dolby vision on this 2019 model?
Yes, but not on all their titles.
it's not USB-C powered btw.... it has it's own power adapter.
AI upscaling works on a 1080p TV?
It does. Stop going to be 4K but it's going to look much much better.
Wanderer001 Im like you I don’t have 4k tv but really want the shield didn’t know it enhances 1080p but you telling me this has 100% sold me! THANK YOU! Subbed & liked :)
What's the point of this if you already have a smart tv ?
Less likely if you have a smart TV. Unless you are unhappy with the smarts part of your tv. For those without a smart TV this will make it like having one.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews yeah that would make sense. It's hard to believe that Nvidia ventured into such an ever shrinking market
True but the shield is more than just a set-top streaming box is also a gaming platform. So they do kind of hedge their bets a little bit that way.
Hopefully the AI upscalling from Netflix would be better of what the LG C7 can do
these are just repacked and upgraded old 2015 models if you ask me.
still waiting for a android tv box, that has 2.1 HDMI output + 1 or 2 hdmi input ports and bluetooth 5.0.
that would be ideal for my hue lights to sync with my tv via lets say consoles.
nonetheless this device is the most solid streaming device on the market for 4k 60fps HDR.
i have hear a so called "award winning" tanix tx6s, but it pretty much sucks at 4k 60fps.
Hue stream app works great though, with 1080p, but thats not what i want.
Get the philps hue sync box for ur lights
Have you used Stack TV on it?
I have not.
Is Netflix and Disney plus for free
No these are both paid services. However if you have Verizon for your cell phone provider or home internet / TV provider they do tend to have benefits of paying for these services along with the Verizon service.
I get overwhelmed by your IP Vanish adds. I have a year subscription cant you cod your subscribers so we don't see the IP segment?
If an ad popped up that's not my doing that's actually UA-cam. I have no control over what comes up.
Robert, look for UA-cam Vance's for your phone and Smart UA-cam for your Firestick for zero ads. And of course Ad Block for Chrome.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Thanks, mate. I just got back from buying one.
You're on my Christmas card list.
since the teamviewer version that i tried with andriod-tv only allows viewing (no remote keyboard or remote mouse) does this have a VNC server function for me to connect via a computer to remotely troubleshoot with ?
Not that I have been able to find.
Why would I buy this over A used PS3? Serious question.
You really would not in my opinion. This is a streaming device first gaming peripheral second. PlayStation is a gaming console first streaming peripheral second.
The AI upscaling is awesome PS3 just can't compete in that area
Can this be used with HDD ??
Yes. It also has built in Plex.
I'm getting it this month
They call me Rone...Toblerone! (tumbleweeds blow in the distance).
I won't buy it just because of the big Netflix button on their remote control "instead of a favorite program configurable button" is forcing users to accidentally press the knowing button almost every time trying to adjust the sound. Thanks but no Tanks!
Have you ever tried harmony remote?
@@UnworthySubject No, but I think I will pull my hair out if I try to use one. They look like a calculator with a fancy screen.
@@khossrov Yeah depends on which one you get. There's tutorials on UA-cam on how to set them up. It's mostly only if you have several remotes and want to control everything with one instead.
