    • @arturob.l6282
      @arturob.l6282 13 днів тому

      @@burnzy3210 there’s plenty of new AI tech that Nvidia could well market in a device like the shield giving you two simple examples being their RTX Video HDR which can convert any SDR video into HDR using AI as well as RTX Video Super Resolution which is their most up to date and refined way of AI Upscaling lower quality video up to 4K using more sophisticated ways than the current Nvidia Shield TV does with their older AI Upscaling process found in it.
      Also, support for VP9 profile 2 for HDR videos in UA-cam, AV1 codec support at a hardware level which is being highly available and used in UA-cam, Netflix, among other streaming services.
      I could go on in many other ways of how a newer Nvidia Shield could be very welcomed, but I would leave it to that as those are key factors for improvements the current Shield TV pro doesn’t have.

    Nvidia needs to add VP9.2 and AV1 hardware decoding, as a LOT of people use UA-cam, and with no HDR, I just cannot keep using the Shield. If they want to sell units, add those two codecs and 8K@60 output, and they should be good for another 10 years.

    The PLEX server capability will keep this device useful for a long time. It can even accept directly-attached storage (I have seen 20TB external HDDs work) to let you store/move content accessible by any network-connected device (phone, laptop, tablet, etc). It may not be as ideal as a NAS but it is cheaper and easier to setup if you don't have the technical experience to setup a NAS.

    Ahh i remember 2015 as a youngin living with my parents i saved up enough money to buy a console. I had a wii u already and decided to buy an nvidia shield tv 2015. Not for streaming purposes but because i thought android gaming on the TV sounded like a great idea. And plus emulators on my TV sounded cool. In 2015 retro gaming on TVs other than on a PC wasnt such a prominent thing. They even had a native Re5 port. And they had GTA san andreas on the play store. Eventually i stopped really gaming on here since it only got more limited as updates came out. And ten years later. Its been through me going to college, several different roomates borrowed it, watch parties for what feels like different eras in my life and i still use the shield as our main streaming device at me and my girls place

    If they make the ARM chip for handhelds I hope it runs SteamOS 3.6+

    Do you still use the stick launcher with your Shield or a alternative launcher like Projectivy?

    It's the only smart device I have where the interface isn't laggy. I have a FireTV that sometimes takes 10 seconds ro respond to a button press and it's beyond frustrating. Had my Shield for 7 years and it's fast and responsive and just a pleasure to use. I really appreciate the firmware updates, but I'd LOVE a properly updated new model. Just take my money, Nvidia!

    There's still not much wrong with the Shield Pro..Maybe AV1 and VP9 hardware decoding would be nice. I'd also like a better solution to the auto refresh-rate switching issues. QFT promised it would be a thing of the past but it hasn't really happened yet. 4K 120fps video decoding? 120fps gaming with HDMI 2.1 VRR?

    I had a Shield tablet. While the specs were great, apps ran sluggishly on it for some reason. It was terrible. When the Shield TV was announced, it was a real leap of faith when I pre-ordered it, but I'm glad I did. I've had one of each generation Shield TV since. It's getting a bit long in the tooth though. We're overdue for a new version with AV1 support.

    I still have my OG Nvidia Shield! bought on day 1. I bought the new remote though. I broke that one after dropping it so many times

    I still love my shield! My only gripe is the remote. It loses its connection very often, so I have to find a better replacement. Does anyone have any recommendations for this?

    Shield 2.0 with built-in NPU for AI. All voice prompts are process and kept local and not shared with a cloud service. This would be a killer home automation device that any existing Shield owner will surely purchase.

    My Shield TV has been under my TV for nearly a decade now and is still used every now and again. NVIDIA did some nice ports in the early days, a lot are broken now and don't work properly any more.

    I love the Shield , I think it's about time they need a refresh. But the darn thing is still pretty powerful...it's still the best streaming device out there, bar none.

    I'm looking for a 2019 Shield Pro but they've hardly went down in price, and I'm terrified that it would lose most of its value the moment its successor (or a viable high-performance competitor) shows up.

    I been watching Lon since 2015 🤯🤯 at least! I remember he was doing a youtube stream way back then and he answered my chat when i asked him if he has been able to make living wage on youtube now. He said for a couple months now, “yes”👍 😅😂
