So to answer some of the questions I noticed you may have. 1. The guy in the white outfit is Kaito Kid. He's a thief like Arsene Lupin who specializes in disguises and magic tricks in order to steal gems and other similar things. However, he always returns what he steals. In Detective Conan, he mainly steals to put on a show or to reveal some sort of scheme. He has also done so as a challenge. The character itself comes from another series by the same author titled Magic Kaito and in the Magic Kaito series, Kid's main reason for stealing is to find a specific blue gem called Pandora that can grant immortality. His goal of getting it is to keep it out of the hands of an evil organization. Several of his stories were adapted into Detective Conan specials or episodes, these tended to put a bigger focus on Conan. He also got two anime adaptions which readapted those episodes and made them more faithful to Magic Kaito. And just as Kid is character in DC, Conan is a character in MK. You would think that meant that the two characters shared the same universe, but in Magic Kaito, magic actually exists. Kid himself doesn't actually use real magic, but there is a character who uses black and red magic. In DC, magic and the supernatural don't exist. 2. The main female character in all of the openings is Ran Mouri, she's Shinichi's childhood friend (they've known each other since preschool). Her father, Kogoro is a private detective, albeit not a particularly good one. Ran herself can be a bit naive, however she's intelligent and extremely competent in Karate. After Shinichi shrinks, he ends up moving in with her and Kogoro in the hope that this could lead him closer to finding the men who poisoned him. She doesn't realize that Conan is Shinichi, though she has come close several times to catching him, each time he figures out a way to throw her off his trail. This is because if she knew the truth, she would be put in danger. 3. The other girl that looked like she had a shady past is Sherry/Shiho. She was once a member of the organization that poisoned Shinichi, and in fact she worked on the drug itself. When the organization killed her sister, she rebelled and as a result they handcuffed her and were planning on killing her. So she willingly took the same drug that was given to Shinichi and ended up shrinking like he did. Since then, she's been in hiding from the organization who know that "Sherry" escaped, but they do not know about the shrinking effect. After shrinking, she went to where Shinichi originally lived and collapsed. Professor Agasa (Shinichi's inventor neighbor) finds her and takes her in and she takes on the identity of Haibara Ai to blend in like Conan 4. Conan uses a lot of gadgets, all made by Professor Agasa. The main ones he uses are the stun wrist watch and the voice modulator bowtie. The watch knocks out whoever it hits, while the bowtie can change your voice to anybody you want. Conan frequently uses it to talk to Ran as Shinichi. Then there are his shoes which stimulate the muscles in his feet and legs, which allow him to kick and even jump with much more power than before. Early in the series he would use whatever was available. Later on he got a new belt from Agasa which can produce a soccer ball anywhere. Normally he uses it to create a ball to kick. After a few seconds the ball deflate. If the switch is pressed longer, he can make the ball much larger, and he does this for whatever the circumstances call for (like using it to soften a fall). There are several more gadgets that get used from time to time like the glasses that Conan wears have tracking capabilities, or the badges that the children wear that are used for communication. 5. Lastly. Conan occasionally does turn back into his adult form. The first time it happens is quite early on in the series. There's an antidote that can temporarily turn him back, but each time he takes it, the time he stays as Shinichi is shortened. One of the OVAs deals with a potential future where he was never able to stop the Organization and he built an immunity to the antidote. He aged normally but was essentially 10 years behind Ran. In the series proper, only a few people know that Conan is Shinichi. Agasa is the first to know since Shinichi told him first thing. Shinichi's parents also know and they occasionally help him out. Then there is Heiji Hattori, who he has a friendly rivalry with.
It's funny seeing how almost every opening has Conan on his skateboard. In manga he uses it only like 5 times. In the anime he uses it a little more because of filler but still not that much. A lot of his gadgets get more use in fillers and movies to make them more action oriented.

The Girl Mori Ran and Kudo Shinichi/Edogawa Conan are childhood friends and did become lovers in the story. He did return to his original form multiple times in the story. A prototype antidote will be made but the effect only last for 24hrs and its effect goes further down the more he uses it so he can't keep on using it. That's as far as I know from the episode I'm currently in.
This was so rad that you were able to get through all of this! It was so fun watching your reactions to all the openings. One question I didn't see answered in the comments is whether his love interest ever finds out it's him. Currently she does not know they are the same person. There were many arcs where she suspected or was pretty certain it was him, but each time he uses pretty crazy methods to convince her they aren't the same person. She often still does have moments where she's like "it's so weird you are so similar, but there is no way it's physically possible since I've seen you both in the same room!" They do eventually date / slowly progress their relationship where he's been able to temporarily use an antidote, and those moments are shown in the opening themes. As for the baddies, they do mostly get away a lot, but some die / he gets closer to higher ranked members including the "main boss" of the organization. (it's been too many years of this, though hahaha) XD
detective conan is one of the best anime ive seen and the series is 600 episodes without fillers, so you will catch up fast, story is very good and side cast is very well written as well
Ran the unicorn hair girl has suspect him many times for how much conan resemble shinichi (adult form). But conan always has a way to clear up the suspection. So she still doesn't know

The OPs are amazing! Though, I’ve found I adore many of the EDs as well. Possibly more than the OPs. “Your Best Friend”, “Tomorrow is the Last Time”, “Futari no Byoushou”, “Rain Main”, Kimi no e Uso”, and really anything Mai Kuraki sang. Don't forget that Conan's character design is basically Yaiba with LESS spikey hair and Aoko's design is just Ran with MORE spikey hair. XD

As for the questions of yours I ran into: - Yes, that is the singer dancing - Yes, that is them both as kids in the Everything OK opening - No, the white-clad guy is not Shinichi/Conan. He is Kaito Kid and he is from a manga written before Conan that often has crossovers with Detco. Yes, Kaito and Shinichi look stupidly similar and this does get referenced in the form of character mishaps, though the movies take the most advantage of this. Fun fact: this is not Shinichi's only doppelgänger. - The alcohol (and this is incredibly silly) is the first temporary cure to Conan's rejuvenation problem. It only works once though, so there's a gag scene of Conan binge-drinking too. - The solid black character is a means to show the criminal's actions without revealing any of their physical characteristics. No matter the age, height, build, or gender... they all look like this until their identity is revealed. Yes, it looks very out of place in any well-lit scene. - Someone already answered this, but no, (horn-hair) Ran doesn't know Conan is Shinichi (her childhood friend). She been convincingly gaslit into believing they're separate people (including a trick of seeing them together). But! She does figure it out on her own and corner him VERY early on (ep 7).
