  • The connection between the Golden Ratio and works of art and architecture has been questioned in the last few decades, but there is no question that the Golden Ratio has fascinating ties to the Fibonacci numbers, two- and three-dimensional geometry, and more. Check it out in this video!

    I'm pretty sure that phi is the limit of the ratio of consecutive terms of ANY sequence of numbers that follows the rule: a(n) = a(n-2) + a(n-1). That always fascinated me much more than the particular cases of Fibonacci and Lucas numbers...

    • @TippingPointMath
      @TippingPointMath  7 років тому +17

      This is correct. If you start with any two non-zero integers and form the sequence by adding successive terms, the limit of the ratio will be phi.

    • @louistournas120
      @louistournas120 7 років тому +4

      I wrote a program to test it.
      It looks like it is true.
      Even if I put 2 and 3, it ends up closing in on phi.
      If I put 1 and 10, it ends up closing in on phi.
      1 and 40, 35 and 40, etc. It always goes to phi.
      The picture that you have at 4:24
      1 + 1/1 = 2/1
      but you can write that as
      1 + 2/2 = 2/1
      1 + 3/3 = 2/1
      1 + 4/4 = 2/1

    Phi: 1.61803...
    (125.35 x (10^-1) - 1.61803) x (10^3) = 10,916.97

    Golden Angle: 137.5
    Earth's equatorial radius: 6,378
    Universal Gravitation G = 6.67 x 10^-11 N.m^2/kg^2.
    (((1.618 ^137.5) / 6,378) / 6.67) x (10^-20) = 12,756.62

    Planck’s constant: 6.63 × 10-34 m2 kg.
    Circumference of the Moon: 10,916.
    Gold equation: 1,618 ɸ
    • (((6.63 ^ (10,916 x 10^-4 )) x 1.618 x (10^3)= 12,756.82
    Earth’s equatorial diameter: 12,756 km.

    Newton’s law of gravitation: G = 6.67 x 10^-11 N.m^2/kg^2.
    Speed of Sound: 340.29 m/s
    • (1.41679 ^ 6.67) x 340.29 - 1 = 3,474.81
    Moon's diameter:: 3,474 km.
    Cosmic microwave background radiation
    2.725 kelvins ,160.4 GHz,
    Pi: 3.14
    Earth's polar radius: 6,357 km.
    • ((2,725 x 160.4) / 3.14 x (10^4) - (6,357 x 10^-3) = 1,392,000

    The Numbers: 3, 6 and 9
    • ((3^6) x 9) - (3.086 x (10^3)) -1 = 3,474
    The Moon's diameter: 3,474 km.
    Now we will use the diameter of the Moon.
    Moon's diameter: 3,474 km.
    • (3.474 + 369 + 1) x (10^2) = 384,400
    The term L.D (Lunar Distance) refers to the average distance between the Earth and the Moon, which is 384,400 km.
    Moon's diameter: 3,474 km.
    • ((3+6+9) x 3 x 6 x 9) - 9 - 3 + 3,474 = 6,378
    Earth's equatorial radius: 6,378 km.

    Does this theory have an explanation for, or anything to do with the phenomena of "mise-en-abyme", which is the pieces of mirror image gradually getting smaller but exactly in the same proportion in the two mirror set in front of each other, caused by the interaction of photons in the same rule like a tennis ball?

      If I'm not mistaken, in the indo-european branch, only some germanic languages say it with the "-y" sound, so it doesn't matter what english-speaking country you live, you'll speak it this way.

      Art and maths are intertwined! Got from figure drawing tutorials to this, and although daunting in depth, it's fascinating, impressive and inspiring that humans, careful human minds, took notice of this phenomena and pinned it down into a workable concept. In any case, this did make my brain hurt though hahahaha.
