I liked your take on listening to a song first for mood or feeling, and then breaking down the lyrics afterward. I liked what you said about "Don't fix me; I'm not broken". In school, you're paying for them to "fix" (teach) you, but in relationships, love means encouraging you to grow the way you need to grow, from your own heart. People give you perspective, but only you can decide (and decide again every day) what that means to you, and the best friends give you love & space to be your own best version of you, according to you. That doesn't mean I don't listen to people who love me, since what they say is valuable. I just have to be the one who makes the most of that in my own way.
Good reaction! Thanks!
Really nice comment ❤️
Your sister texted when you were asking who the song was about and I got chillllls. She wrote it about her little sister who passed away.
Yes! No such thing as coincidence.... only FATE!
Omg same 😭
I was just about to comment this too! 🙏🏼😋
her sister's name was bonnie.
No way, I didn't know that! That's heart wrenching
DAMN, he was "this song have to be about someone" and then the notification of his SISTER sending a message. GOOSEBUMPS ALL AROUND!
Amy wrote this song about her little sister, who died at age of 3, when Amy was 6. Also, this is the only song Evanescence never performed live... too hard I guess. One can feel sadness dripping from this song... you are completely right about it. Very nice reaction. Love your Evanescence reactions... say hi to your sister as well. Try, My Heart Is Broken next ❤️🔥
Like You (another song about her sister) has also never been performed live.
@@theseeker2586 True, she only did the piano intro between other songs. Another amazing song.
WIKI also said that she lost a brother in 2018 to severe epilepsy. Poor Amy.
🥲sad truth
Even in death another song for her sister 😭😭😭
“Hello” is like the shock and denial phase, “like you” is like the grief and anger, “the other side” is anger and acceptance
Omg, yes
Damn true
Her voice always puts tears in my eyes. No other singer can do that on the same level she can. Truly next level talent
I absolutely feel the same. She's such a beautiful woman
One more thing. Amy is a classically trained pianist. She also plays guitar, bass and the harp.
I believe she sort of plays drums too. She's talk about her son playing her drum kit. So I'd think she plays a little if she has a drum kit.
I just said that!😉 too♥️
Yes, a true female artist.
@@lifeisyours8250 a true artist*
Wow! I did not know that, thanks for sharing.
"Who was this song about? - Oh my sister just texted me!"
Foreshadowing in reaction videos is dope!
Yes. You were pretty spot on. Amy Lee wrote this about her sister, Bonnie, that passes away when Amy was six and Bonnie was 3. Her lyrics are some of the most relatable lyrics I have ever heard, and she has literally saved my life. That being said, they, EVAN-ESSCENCE (Evanescence) has an album coming on out March 26th and will include at least one song that will pertain to the recent passing of her brother, Robby. He died from Epilepsy and her world is devastated. This woman has been through soooo much in her life. She's lost 2 siblings, she's gone through an awful abusive relationship, and there's just so much other stuff that we don't even know. Amy Lee is absolutely amazing. In every aspect and she's SOOO strong. She is FIRE!
What did Bonnie die of?
@@evalevy2909 unknown illness
Her voice is shaking, I can’t handle it sometimes. The last phrase of the song always melts my heart, I still listen to this song all the time almost 20 years later.
She had lost her sister. I cry every time I hear this real song from her soul..
HELLO always give me chills, the heartfelt pain and emotion you can hear in Amy's voice and that arrangement.
When I bought this album, I don't think I took it out of my CD player for about six months. Amazing
Same
Mines STILL in my 6 cd car player 💛💜
I was about 17 when this album came out. She helped me find who I was.
Imaginary By evanescence is my one of my faves
Amy lee has such a beautiful, rich, pure angelic sound, its almost haunting... I love her!
Yes her tone is so thick and clear
*Call Me When You're Sober is a great one. It's a diss towards her ex, the lead singer of Seether..check them out as well*
Oh Snap, I didn't know they dated. "Broken" that they did together is a great song. Gives it a different perspective hearing that Call Me When You're Sober was about him!
@@nicoleES-5678 he replied w a song about her but I don't remember the name of it
@@fantasmigorical8618 tell ya how memorable it was xD he was never good enough for her... As a person or an artist
He was an abusive alcoholic and not much has changed since 2016 at least. He got jealous that people were lining up at Sick Puppies merch table because they sign peoples merch for free. He got butt hurt and called my friend a worthless fatass. That same friend passed away that same December. Shawn Morgan is a shit person and I’ll never support Seether ever again.
*I believe it's about her sisters passing when they were young💔*
Her sister was 3 ,she was 6.
@@SJamesGill88 thank you❤
@@fantasmigorical8618 Np,huge Amy Lee fan,her story is so tragic. She just lost her brother iirc.
@@SJamesGill88 yeah, I know. She's a strong person❤❤❤
her voice grabs you by the heartstrings, pulls, and then simply doesn't let go..
Fallen is almost 20 years old.. her voice has only gotten better (if that's humanly possible)..but I want you to go even further back..
one of the first songs the ever recorded is called Exodus.. its another song where the delivery OF the lyrics totally belies what the song is about..
ALMOST 20 YEARS OLD
Beautiful woman she os incredible
That cello solo is amazing, it reminds me of Bachs cello suite.
You checked this out cause you're curious and want to step outside of the box you know and learn something new, get some new influences, see some different horizons.
To me the "don't try to fix me, I'm not broken" line is her parents, teachers counselors etc trying to get her out of the grief after losing her sister, to deny her the mourning of a dead sibling by trying therapy and medicine to "snap her out of it"
Спасибо тебе мужик за реакцию!!
This is about her reaction to being called out of school as a child and finding out her sister died tragically and how she dealt with it.
It hits hard in feels if ya listen again
How did she die?
@@jaxamax14 As far as I know, she got sick and the doctors didn't know what it was. She deteriorated fast and died. Don't quote me on this though.
One thing I like about Amy is that she can make you feel any emotion
I grew up on this music. I love this band and this particular song always hits hard.🖤
Her voice just gets you in your feeling!! 💗💗💗
I'm not crying you're crying 😭
This album kept me alive when I was 13. I suggest Tourniquet and let it move you into Imaginary. Back to back on Fallen.
Her voice makes me tear up all the time
As the song ended all I could think was "He was too stunned to speak!" Hahaha she is phenomenal.
Would make the hardest heart cry really speaks to anyone who lost someone they truly loved …
Amy's voice is beautiful. I don't get tired of this band.
Amy is one hell of a pianist as well...man, those notes are ripping me to shreds here...sighing...
I hv been crying hysterical.. just beyond .. n that voice!!
This is one of her best songs lyrically, vocally, and emotionally.
This song has a deep sentimental meaning for me. I was also 6 years old when my father passed. This song is perfect at showing how a child experiences grief when they often dont fullly understand death. I couldn't understand why my dad couldn't come home. Then finally understanding that your loved one is gone.
She will touch anyone that hears her. This one is an angel with abilities that are inconceivable to most people. I love hearing people blindly listening to her for the first time. She blows their mind everytime. This woman is an angel.
If you’re interested, Evanescence are doing a live stream concert sort of thing on Saturday. Should be amazing.
This song was written about her little sister who passed away. Amy was 6 Bonnie was 3. Bonnie passed from an undisclosed illness. Amy has written many many songs about her sister. And the name of the band is pronounced EVANessence I’m a big fan of this amazing band and all the shifts and changes it has gone thru over the years
She is mesmerizing, her voice is bewitching! !!
Amy Lee has "Transylvania Eyes"! :D
I love her voice so much
I remember when i heard the song for the first time and it inmediately got me. From that moment to now has a big part in my heart. I love Evanescence 🤘🤘
Her voice is phenomenal. Definitely one of my favorites.
This song shows depression in its true form I think.. Having suffered under it, I know what it's like to hide those dark thoughts, feelings and the pain and only show the world what you want them to see.. Wearing a mask, so to speak.. She talks about the difference between what she feels, and what her mind is telling her to feel/to be.. Plus, she talks about it being like a dream, that is what it feels like you went through after you get through it.. It all feels like some kind of bad dream.. Even now, more than 15 yrs after my depression, I still can say I do not actually remember alot that happened to me in those years, it all seems like I was asleep for years
That’s the line that gets me too! Don’t try to fix me, I’m not broken!!!
I’m telling you, Amy writes the best, most relatable lyrics. Only reason why I feel better (even tho if it doesn’t advise you), hey music along with the lyrics and biggest of all her voice, it’s just so comforting. It’s so sad. She writes this about her sister Bonnie that passed away at age 3.
All of this. It's gonna be so hard to hear what she's come up with for Robby. Ugh. I can't wait for March 26th, though!
Amy (the lead singer) lost her 3 year old sister to a seizure when she (Amy) was 6. She was in school when it happened, and this was her processing her emotions and coming to terms with it from the perspective she had when it happened.
We don’t know if it was a seizure, it was from an unknown illness. Her brother, Robby, died in 2018 to epilepsy.
@@mirrorofnight I thought she confirmed it was a seizure.
@@amandaash476 the brother, not the sister
Great reaction, Guy. When you listen to it on a killer system cranked up, that last part really gets ya in the feels. I'm blown away by not only the range of her voice, but especially the clarity and power all through that range. Mad respect for your honest reaction/review!
Don't try to fix me I'm not broken.......... That is what always grabbed my heart..... Bring tears and gives chills at same time
genuine reaction, wonderful. You keep staying true to yourself, and listening to the song fully without trying to analyse it too much, just how the artist would want it, so you get the feeling of the song. Thanks!!
It's about her little sister.. She's talking to her unconciouse body with her lyrics... shes telling her that she's still here for her, and it's by far one of the songs I go to when I feel the most depressed. Theres always someone else out there that has gone through worse than you... And then "suddenly I know I'm not sleeping..."
Seriously the two best tracks on the cd are "Whisper" & "Tourniquet". You should definitely listen to them!
it's okay to feel emotional sometimes.
you got a lot of heart Jojo don't ever let that change.
Thank you for reacting to Hello. It truly is one of their best but under appreciate. The whole album is great, I think it’s one of the best albums ever made.
Please react to their new song, “Use my voice” you’ll be amazed.
Appreciate your investment in Amy Lee and her voice. I never heard this and only listened because of your depth in reacting. More mature than I EVER was! (First 25 yrs) 😉
"All that's left of yesterday" gives me chills
You are going to get there, and well beyond 10,000. Just stick it out and keep doing what you're doing. These reaction channels are good for the world and good for the world of music. What brings us together more than music?
Expanding your musical horizons can expand the quality of your life. You are bringing different styles and genres to people who have never heard them. just like you when you are listening for the first time . It's powerful. Keep rocking it!
My all-time fav of her.
This is the most haunting song that I know by Amy Lee, she is one of the only female singers I really enjoy!
My top 3 favorite Evanescence songs, so good, love playing it on the piano.
And this is why I love Evanescence so much. She breaks my heart and helps me put the pieces back together again
Dude chills! Wow, when you said, who is this about and then said, oh my sister just texted me.... wtf??
Your take about first reacting to a song is on point.
I read Amy lee had depression issues back in the day and went through losses like her Sisters death but she seems to be doin fantastic now. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
I've known evanescence since I was little and I've already heard this song with my brother, I found this song again after so long and sir .... there's no way not to get emotional, I cry too much listening to it, It's so deep and chilling.
thanks jojo i commented this song on niah's reaction to bring me to life (i think thats what it was) this song is so hauntingly beautiful.
I can really relate to this song, growing up I was told "suck it up princess". At 6 years old my mom would tell me this then she would mock me by saying "baby baby suck your thumb". I was raped at 15 and blackmailed by my rapist, and my mom told me it was my fault for going over to their house in the first place. She then forced me to go to therapy and told me I had to change, and that this was all cause of me. My therapist told my mom that I have severe depression, and that if she doesn't start listening to my feelings that I might end my life. That night I overdosed and went to the hospital, all that ran through my head was "everyone clearly doesn't care, they would all be happy if I was gone". I was then put in a mental institution, and I was told by a doctor that I have PTSD, major depressive disorder, and Psychosis. I now have a boyfriend who told me how I feel doesn't matter, that my opinion doesn't matter. TBH I don't want kids for the possibility of ever bringing kids up through the eyes I went through, it truly is heartbreaking to feel like no one ever cares about you. I have been forced to change multiple times growing up, and when I would try to cry it out by myself I was still mocked and made fun of for it. I hope that anyone who is ever going through this can get help, cause no one deserves to be treated like they are valueless. My prayers to anyone who is going through this..
I love how much you do evanescence!
Alot of her lyrics are about love and mental health. Release of dark emotions pain and letting go
You be you LFR Jojo, God bless you man.
My reaction at the end is the same. I keep scrolling back to the end of the cello part to hear it again
OMG, one of my favorite songs by Evanesance I'm obsessed with this band. Still needing to see a reaction to RUSHs, "The Necromancer" off of Caress of Steel. ✌💜🎶
When I was watching your "Bring Me To Life" reaction video, I was going to suggest watching "Hello"....and then I saw it listed on the side of my screen as the next video. It's chillingly, hauntingly beautiful.
This is my fav Evan's song. For me, speaks about the day when my grandmom dies. That happens some 19 years ago and this song make me feel I'm still living that april 10th
God, I love this album. ..I had forgotten this song...ugh, so good
Her voice gives me goosebumps, such a talented singer and pianist.
this song is beautifully written and the way she sing as well. You realize that she's metaphoricaly falling apart crying when " suddenly I know I'm not sleeping, hello I'm still here" OMG I cried too. I remember when I came back home and saw many ppl at our home I thought it's a party but the more I get closer to the house the more I knew there's something wrong, and then booom my mom came to me and hugged me, crying that my brother died.
Anywhere, Hello, and Anywhere are the prettiest songs I have ever heard lyrically and musically
Amy is an angel
Omg!! You're adorable!! You are probably my sons age... Anyway... I laughed so hard too when you said you listened to this on a Tuesday afternnoon around 1 p.m...... I did that too!! Lol!! I remember the 1st time I heard this on my cd i just bought of their music and I started driving back to work on my lunch break and I was just Bawling by the time I got back to work!!! Lol!! This song IS..... VERY EMOTIONAL!! Check out Mary Jane from Alanis Morrsett..... Now That song is very intense and emotional... But a " Comforting" song.... Take care......
You're so sweet and genuine, I love you just the way you are. Even when you can't pronounce Evanescence.
Great Reaction ...
Awesome Epic Legendary emotional Song ever to be sang ...
React to evanescence tourniquet. Good song
Good job young man. I like the way you do
MISSING is my favourite Evanescence song.
She wrote this song about her sister that passed away
This song makes my cry 😭💕
This is truly one of my all time most loved songs. I love music that moves you in a powerful way. The only other song to get me like this is the theme tune to 'The stoning of Soraya M'.
1 of her many best songs...
Great reaction! Definitely check out evanescence - even in death 2016 version, and call me when your sober
the song was about her younger sister bonnie lee.
This is in the realm of a masterpiece.
I love a lot of songs for a lot of different reasons and I'm very versatile about what I listen to. My mom would say that I could listen to anything from Opera to Ozzy and It'd all sound beautiful to me. But then again she understood where my mind was. And sometimes she listened to rap with me. I figure songs are universal and anyone can listen to anything as long as they have an open mind.💖
I got the Chills..... Can’t believe your Sister Messaged YOU while you were asking what the Song was about. And you mentioned it was your Sister, most would not have said anything. Damn, I am seeing more stuff like this ALL THE TIME ??? The Songs about her Sister, sad story .....
this song and Imaginary (among a couple others of theirs) helped bigtime in making my come through high school alive, no joke.
honestly it’s a good description of when your brain can’t handle shock and you run through it all only to get back to the facts that whatever you just saw actually did happen.it’s a incredibly gorgeous song sad but gorgeous both because of what it’s about but also the pure emotions and denial as I believe a lot of people have reactions like this to the horrific realty of whatever they go through.
Don't fight the tears, don't fight yourself.
This one is my absolute favorite
Amy is amazing I've cried many years to her music....
It is pronounced "ev-uh-ness-since". If something is "evanescent" it means it is quickly fading out of sight , memory, or existence. I think its suppose to refer to their music being dreamlike, or something so ethereal and beautiful listening to it is as if you are dreaming and will soon wake up.
My absolute favorite Evanescence song is "Imaginary". It represents how I've always felt in life.
