The drummer looks like he could start a band, sing and play basically every instrument
He should try the guitar even
Really? Lol
Nah, no talent bum.....
Don’t think he ever could make it... oh wait

Don’t hear people mention Jeff Buckley much, which is too bad. He was amazing.

Most teens do

Nah Not old yet, most teen kids who play guitar or like hard rock music know who Nirvana are ,and since Kurt died young,he is very relevant to kids for generations to come, and who are all those teens and twenty somethings at Foo fighter concerts?🎸🎸
Well, I'm 18 and I do know who Nirvana is!

Dr. Dre actually said this album was his top fave of all time. And ironically Im actually a 90’s r&b and soul fan, not a rock fan, but I love Nirvana. Truthfully why I like this band most of all is because of Kurt Cobain. He was a special gem and he just fascinated me and inspires me. I loved their music as well but I think knowing more about him made me appreciate and love the music 1000 times more. I remember the first time I heard this song it was euphoric. I can see why it became so popular. Even though he hated it lol
No wonder. Nevermind is one of the most fun albums of all time, it has an insane range of emotion from complete excitement with Smells like Teen Spirit to sorrow with Polly
Yeah, Nirvana was hella good!!! 👌🏾🥰👏🏾❤️🔥💀👍🏾
That album was like a drug. So many songs gave me goosebumps.
This guy's 2021's reaction = Everyone's reaction in 1991.
I'm so glad people still enjoy listening to this band today.
Genre-defining, earth-shattering, iconic. This dude is blessed while a whole new world is opening for him.
I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard it. (Walking to my dorm with friends and it was blaring off the upper patio of one of the "fancy" dorm rooms.) I don't think I can say that about any other song. I was immediately obsessed.
I'm 14 and Nirvana is my favorite band. In Utero is the best Nirvana album IMO
@@MrManfly Though there are many covers in different genres that also bring out the haunting beauty in the melody. Especially in solo piano. Kurt Cobain was a genius when it comes to melody. Check out some covers some time. You'd be surprised because the melody is that strong.

It makes me feel old af hearing someone not even knowing how to pronounce their name, let alone never heard their music, but it's awesome seeing younger generations hearing them for the 1st time and liking it. 👍 they definetly were a 1 of a kind band with a very original sound to this day. No other grunge band ever could imitate their sound.
I cracked up every time he said nirVANna 😂
hes just playing up the reaction and playing on peoples stereotypes of the young generation in order to reel in views. He's heard rock before, he probably knows who nirvana is. he takes the piss too - _"he can play guitar??" "who ARE they" "they're TALENTED??" I wish for a band like Nirvana today. They came out of nowhere and became world stars overnight. They started at student parties and sometimes paid to perform. Against the norm, they rolled up the music world.
Theres hella bands, they just arent popular because most things have already been done with the grunge genre and its hard to innovate or make something that becomes a hit.
Fun fact:
Kurt Cobain wrote this song intending to write the ultimate pop song. Seriously. Lyrics that mean nothing but are catchy and sound good.
Guess he trolled em good

I always get sad when I see one of these young folks on UA-cam enjoying Nirvana for the first time and knowing that they are going to find out what happened for the first time soon. That promise being cut short seems to be an endless cycle for Nirvana.
It's heartbreaking.

Yap...hove much you want to end your life when you take 3 times more heroine then you can and shuts your head of with a shotgun!Disaster...
This song changed the Rock and roll world in 1991. The late, great Kurt Cobain was the singer/guitarist. There were just 3 in the band: Cobain, Krist Novoselic on bass and Dave Grohl on drums. Dave Grohl went on to front the Foo Fighters, band that's still topping charts nearly 30 years later. Kurt Cobain tragically killed himself with a shotgun at age 27 in 1994.
Nirvana was the beginning of grunge.
We had never heard music like this before.
And coming from the 80's rock, heavy metal and 70's disco beats, that we somehow ended up dragging with us into the 80's, this was completely groundbreaking music.
They also got recognition, after their MTV Unplugged sessions (recorded in November of 1993,), but Kurt died shortly after they recorded, on April 5th 1994, and it didn't air until November 1994. So he never really got to know, how much he changed music for us, but they were acclaimed and awarded after his passing.
Nirvana will always be known, as the fathers of the 90's Grunge era.
Ps. Try YouTubing "Kurt Cobain's death"
no it wasn’t lmao it just made grunge popular, there were plenty of grunge bands before nirvana
love your thorough analysis at the end :D
*chuckles* meanwhile all us 35+ year olds are like "how could you NOT know Nirvana?"
Haha yeah. I'm glad I got to know them at an early age, at around 14. 16 now. Wish more people my age liked em too. Not only cus they're legendary but also cus I'd really like some people to hang out with who aren't just hooked on hip hop and pop lol

36 here, feeling attacked. Lmao! But yes the world changed and got a little darker in April '94. I was only 9 but it rocked my world.
Nirvana (Nir-vah-na”) changed the world with their own style of “grunge” music. The band’s members are Kurt Cobain (lead singer), Krist Novoselic (bass), and Dave Grohl (drums). After Kurt died in 1994, Dave started his own band, the Foo Fighters. 🙂
“What is a libido?” Oh, doll! You’re so young, you wring my heart. ❤️
Ooh, libido?! I know that one! That's the game you play where you walk under the stick and the stick keeps getting lower and lower, so you have to bend yourself backwards so you don't hit the stick while you try not to fall on your butt! Fun game! 😉🤣
How could you forget Pat? Pat Smear? Come on!
Also, it’s Novoselic.
kurts death also changed how we handle suicide and famous death in the media.
Kurt also had some solo stuff that got released later! :) Also pilot lady don't forget about Pat Smear!!!!!!!!! 😡
@@amyhuggins9920 I corrected the spelling...thanks! And, I didn’t forget Pat Smear. This reaction is to “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, which was released in September, 1991. Pat didn’t join the band until 1993. 🙂
I remember hearing this on the radio and having no idea what Kurt Cobain was even saying, I just knew it rocked hard. I bought the whole album on cassette just to get the lyrics to this one song and ended up absolutely loving every song on this tape!

I'm 55 years old so I've seen a lot of new music come out but I've never seen a song immediately shake up the music world like this one did. Before this it was all flashy "Glam Rock" and all the sudden there are these guys looking all grungy, singing lyrics that made no sense and jumping around like they didn't care. It was like a breath of fresh air. The hair bands were instantly hasbeens and Grunge was in.
Yep! It happened just like that
I love hearing things like this, just wish I could’ve been there to see it happen
Don't know if it's true but I heard that axle rose seen them live and was pissed off because he knew his era was over . Something like that.
completely agree with you, I dont think Krist ever got over his death, so sad, all 3 where genius
I was so glad when this song brought the death of hair metal.
I’m from the 90’s and was into grunge, rap and hip hop. And was also growing up with a tv show called rage, I love seeing your happy reaction to hearing it for the first time, but it makes me sad to, so many generations not experiencing things together anymore.
I grew up listening to my parents music on records blaring in the house. Then rage was a music show of all different kinds of musics and eras, all the kids and teens watched it on live tv.
Then movies, in Australia in the early years we only had five channels, and Sunday movies was on one channel and collectivity as a community and country we’d all be watching like re runs of ET, Star Wars, Beverly Hills Cop & many classics.
And now everyone’s missing out on a collective identity, many younger people have no idea what I’m talking about when I mention music or movies, the internet and pay tv & iPhones has disconnected generations instead of knowing the same thing. I feel a loss in unity within society.
Well that only my opinion and of course the older you get you’ll see how nostalgic you’ll become for an easier time!
Enjoy your new discoveries!!! Loving the reactions!!!
All the best, Em

when i first heard this song it was nothing like i had ever heard before..it was what as a teenager in the 90's was feeling. I remember where i was what i was doing when i first heard Nirvana. Mind blowing changed my life forever
The 90s were such a great time to be a teen. It was so much fun and the music kicked ass. It was a hard day when we heard Kurt died. RIP ❤
Devastating more like.
No doubt Gen X was something else.
I was in my early 20’s....best time of my life!
Yes... I was on my way to work and stopped by a convenience store for a diet Coke or something. Someone in line said "I can't believe Kurt Cobain died".... I said "what?" I didn't believe him. Bought the paper and sat at the table before work (I worked in a pizza restaurant) and just bawled......
@@christina9841 how old were you? :/
Nirvana changed the game! As a hip hop head, they were undeniable when they hit the scene. So many dope songs! Kurt was so dope!
Nirvana ushered in the Grunge era and are one of the most influential bands of all time so yes they changed the game lol
Great reaction to a great song. I was 15 years old when this came out. Looking back, this song, the songs it inspired, and the legions of kids it inspired to make punk/rock music really changed the world in a net positive way, IMO. Myself and many other of the youngest of the Gen-X kids were forever changed and shaped by the 'oh well, whatever! Nevermind!' lyric from this song and ended up being a more tolerant generation because of it. "Whatever man, you do you".
I was 15 too when this song came out. Even in France it was a revolution for our generation. I've never ceased to listen to this band. This is the only band, with SOAD when I was older, that I feel like a part of my identity.
You missed a time I wish everyone had the chance to experience! Nostalgia the greatest & the saddest feeling all rolled into one! It is nice to see somebody get to experience there first time of Nirvana. RIP Kurt!
Totally agree
I loved him saying "oh it's over?🙁"... when you listen to Nirvana all you want is more!
That’s why it’s sad they have such a short discography I find my self listning to the box set with some of the bad recordings of even Kurt not sounding amazing awesome cause I just want more
You're reaction is exactly what happened to almost everyone that listened to music back in the early 1990's.... It's a great ride with alot of Seattle music
Lmao I thought the same thing watching him
😂😂😂 He’s rocking my alma maters on his shirt. I graduated the year this Nirvana joint came out.
the dissapointment on your face when it ended, was EPIC! Love your reactions! Stay Awesome Bro!
LET THERE BE GRUNGE!
Jo Jo discover's grunge in college is this the 90s lolol
HELL YEAH
And Gen X shall rejoice. Amen.
I blinked and now I'm wearing stone wash jeans and an oversized flannel ... wait, when's the last time I washed my hair? Ehh whatever
@@TheAndersox Amen sister!!! Rejoice loud and PROUD!!!!!
Oh man it makes me sad to hear people talk about Nirvana and not know how amazing they were... Rest In Peace Kurt. Long live Dave! And long live the 90’s!!!
Yeah, but it's so cool that he really liked it.
@@surfingthedarkness Crazy to think I was only about 6 months old when this song was written, now I'm 30 years old and so is this song. My favourite lyrics are: 'A Mulatto, an Albino, a mosquito, my libido!" Especially when you are Biracial and you ask your mum what a Mulatto is...
Mum: "Well, back in the day that's what Biracial people were called." Me: "Okay, cool." Can't believe this guy has never listened to this song. R.I.P Kurt Cobain.
Damn didn’t mention Krist
wtf happened to krist novoselic ?
@@joshuamonge5668 not much he’s still amazing
His sweet, innocent, pure reaction is the same way I felt after seeing this video the first time in '92 on Nickelodeon.
The video/music that changed my life
Love your reaction!!
His face when he realized it was over was priceless.
Just the disappointment... XD
thats how we all are lmaooo
As a metalhead i have to say that it's cute to look at this dude's reaction 😂🤟🏼🔥
It gives me SO much joy watching you experiencing SO much joy from this song!!!
Makes me happy to know their drummer went on to rock the world over for decades fronting the Foo Fighters.
Grunge. This is what I grew up to. Raw music, real instruments, no autotune (it didn't exist), not even clicktracks. Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam. The 90s were something else man.
Autotune isn't a bad thing pitch correction software of a very important part of music. Overly used pitch correction can be very annoying though.
I preferred ‘Alice in Chains’ 😉😂🤣 Sorry I couldn’t resist pointing that out even though it was probably an auto correct by your phone, so please don’t take me too seriously as am not taking the Micky out of you! Keep on loving Nirvana though, no matter what happens as they were amazing!
@@markdermody9698 thanks I corrected it. 😀
Basically the same here
You know I'm gonna ask you to rewind the clock just a but further, right. Grunge is awesome, it's Child (Alternative) is awesome. ... but it's predecessor PUNK is where the asthetic comes from.
"I don't have to play well, just loud" was invented by the Ramones, expanded by Joan Jett and the Sex Pistols, before being mastered by Nirvana, and Placebo ... ... only to be reinvented by Alanis Morsette and Garbage, and Jewel (not 'complicated' but 'well written' and 'easy').
When that tempo picks up...the arms go up and the head starts bangin', it's completely involuntary. That beat has grabbed millions of people, I don't care how many times you have heard it or how long it's been since the last time you heard it....when that tempo picks up...the arms go up and the head starts bangin'!
Absolutely! Even if you're a 56 year old woman doing dishes, you do it!🤣
I wondered if his headphones would stay on.
I’m 9 years old and my fav band is Nirvana. My fav sing is come as you are. Fact: Smells like teen spirit was such a big hit that they to make the by Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain and Chris Noveselich!
I WAS ALREADY DOING IT AS I READ THIS
I saw your reaction for Linger by the Cranberries. Right after that, I came across this reaction and it's terrific! I liked your reaction to both. The way you were so into this song made me subscribe! You legit looked so sad that the song was over! Nirvana was great.
I live in Seattle, I was 20 when this record came out. Nirvana were big here but they weren't regarded as the best band in town at that time. Tad, Mudhoney, U-Men, Fastbacks, so many other good bands. Then there were the Melvins from southwestern Washington State. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Seattle scene from that time should really dive-in to the U-Men. They were really well-regarded around town by a lot of the bands who became bigger later-on. They started putting records out in the early-mid 80s.
Yes! Good ol Duff McKagan was in the Fastbacks
Thanks for the tips!! It’s like being back in the nineties! And such quality, very nostalgic for me. Thanks.
“What is a libido”? 😂😂you’ll know when you find it hun!! Everyone has covered and or samples this song! Much love !!
😂🤣😂
Omg best comment ever lmao
I giggled when he said that, I thought it was so cute! 🤣
😂😭😭
🤣🤪
Most people under the age of 30 don't realize the impact that this song had on the music industry.
I’m one of those
Nirvana did as a whole. Not just this song
You know it's your first time hearing them when you say Nir (van)a
😂
I'm just being silly LOL you're awesome and I'm so glad that you're introducing yourself to some great music
This is so cute seeing a young man enjoy a different genre of music!! Brings me much joy 🤩
