If the witness said that - it was completely inappropriate and an attorney knows that. - I agree btw with the statement .... (as an observer not a witness I am allowed to have and state an opinion) .... but a witness canot say such things. Or insinuate guilt or innocence. He is there to answer questions not to make assumptions and to think about motivations. Prosecutor and Defense have their narrative and their bias and ask accordingly - but the witnesses are not supposed to engage in that. ?
Russel Crosby on the stand (a former lawyer collegue of AM) was not trapped by the defense. Who wanted to establish that he is really angry about the damage AM did to the lawfirm: massive financial damage that will cost the other lawyers income but also reputational damage, the hassle of a forensic audit, having to meet the defrauded clients to apologize and come to an agreement what and when they will be paid. Taking out loans to come up with the 4 - 5 million USD (and still counting).
But Crosby was asked by the sleazebag of defense attorney: Did you think he did it (meaning did AM kill Maggie and Paul) And the WITNESS wisely said: I do not have the benefit of all the material that this court has. I trust that the jury will make that decision.
(I think he did have an opinion, but abstained from giving any hints. And he had a personal interest in the deceased, he seemed to have been close to Paul. as a human it would have been very understandable to tilt his testimony in a certain way. He did not do that and he was incensed - and showed it - that the defense lawyer insinuated he would let the damage to the lawfirm influence his testimony in a double homicide. Of people he cared for no less.

I see it as a sign of support for a woman who cried almost the whole time she was on stand because of the pressure she was under in terms of the power that was facing her - for or against her testimony - and the tough time she may have going forward in life there by speaking truths AM didn't want told. Whether he NG/or/G. IMO, It is a vote for the underdog - for the many silenced voices statewide that have long been ruled by a 'power, prestige, status-Family ' ensconced in a Good Ole Boy Network.
I do agree, although it hasn't been stated as such by the above 2 comments, that any contact with a witness that is still under subpoena in a Cr. Trial is not a prudent decision. As the court stated; it would have been excellent fodder for Def cross-examination. To discredit & instill doubt in information & witnesses is the defense's job. And, as we all saw, they declined to do that job in that manner. They saw that barking up the tree of trying to discredit a P. witness who was showing support to another P. witness who was in difficult circumstances due to Alex's below-board actions which potentially threatened her steadfast, hardworking, and honest care-taking job while being themselvesaccused of actual & massive fraud was not going to play well.
▪︎Defense did not pursue this issue in front of the Jury.
{1- Perhaps deciding they would have been seen as bullying two people who were lauded & liked counties-wide by ppl who were systemically beleaguered by the ministrations of this powerful Family & Firm.
{2- Tinsley loses either way so why fight the $ contribution to Shelly, who's testimony didn't affect much in net-net Prosecution Proof of AM's malfeasance.
▪︎To wit: Alex wins this trial, he is now the victim of two Vigilantes who attacked his family and he doesn't end up with more money because he still has all these legal bills and the sympathy that is engendered from being attacked.
▪︎Now, If Alex loses this trial and is deemed guilty of unaliving his family members: then he has no money either.
▪︎=> there's still not going to be a multi- million-dollar judgment won against the M family in the Boating homicide case.
(?) Maybe why the "roadside shenanigans" didn't go as planned. No need. AM had&has 99 other indictments. If Buster had AM's $10M, than he would bear the brunt of the boat case litigation as he would be the last involved Murdaugh alive to sue for Negligence; contributory or proximate.

All the Prosecution's case is built on three OBJECTIVELY FALSE, or at least unproven, ideas: (1) a man whose father was dying and did die in three days needed to kill his wife and son to gain a delay of two weeks to a month; (2) people react ONLY with uncontrollable screaming OR paralysis at the sight of a shot loved one; and (3) the murders happened THE MINUTE Paul finished filming Cash's tail. In opposition to the second idea, I cite (a) Frame 371 of the Zapruder film: Jackie neither screamed nor was paralyzed the second JFK's head exploded IN Jackie's ARMS but climbed to the back of the President's limo to help Secret Service Agent Clint Hill climb to the moving limo; and (b) the Virginia school teacher who, though herself shot by six-year old student, ushered the rest of the class out of the room and into safety. Please rethink your comments and questions on a clean slate uncolored by the Prosecution's false ideas sold as gospel.

@@marieassaad-faltas1299 You clearly haven't been following this trial closely. You are incorrect that the prosecution's case is built on those three ideas alone. HAVE YOU SEEN THE EVIDENCE? The cellphone telemetry data, the OnStar vehicle GPS data, the phone call in which Alex is heard at the crime scene minutes before the murder occurred when he claimed he wasn't there. He will absolutely be found guilty of these murders without a shadow of a doubt. The three things you listed in a straw-man fashion are only part of the prosecution's case, and only act to fill in some of the gaps that are left by Alex's lack of admission and his dishonesty about the crimes he committed. You would make a horrible defense attorney.

@@collinbarnard207, first, I am NOT "an attorney" at all but, thank God, a very successful ADVOCATE for myself, and against some of the VERY people now trying to frame Alex Murdaugh for two murders. I am also a physician and surgeon and have experience in Pathology. NOTHING, but nothing, fixes the time of death in my view as "minutes" after the dog kennel video. It is a disgrace that the hill-billies of South Carolina think someone can put his hand, NOT EVEN A THERMOMETER, in a deceased's armpit and fix the time of death at 9:00 pm. PLEASE try to imagine the time of death even at 9:15 pm and view the evidence in that light. And frankly, the most shocking evidence of Alex Murdaugh's non-guilt came from Mark Tinsley's mouth: "I will burn your house down" he admitted saying to AM; then further bragged "make him an offer he can't refuse." Words out of the Godfather's mouth. Why would Godfather killings not have followed?

Absolutely not. The books were opened and more, pandoras box revealed my mom at end stage metastatic cancer, dad dementia were beguiled into what we found. The posses would have rather me, my daughter and husband believe their lies that such egregious changes were made all on their behalf taking from me and mine (daughter) mind you it was not in equanimity, I cared less, parents and I had that convo when they were healthy being driven crazy be these entitled brats that I said "take care of your own, be sure something is there down the road for your care when you age and your health requires the support of your hard earn resources. I told them leave me out of the "business" specifically because that was more on them and their son working it, for years what they proposed I was good with a firm hug and trust they would be at peace doing just that but first they are not obligated to tell what their intentions are if they chose not to and this strife continued one way or the other. That sadly was the bandaid idk if ever brother was directly told I do not want the piece morsel of business I wanted Peace with him over their estate that was more important I thought of our kids their relationships his 4 my one. Well fast forward without more sensible details 1990's to 2013, just 2 weeks before mom passed with the might of their egregious hand weilding the power of an entitled executor they withdrew my name from a very prominent life ins company parents had for 40 years and a will decades in the making with the firing of their near 40 yr attorney who by the way red flagged them in 2009 made a change on their behalf mom was hospitalized then in Sept Oct of 2009, since then a slow fail I saw at each chemo visit, each step of the way alone no inquiries until again in 2012 pushing for a will change again. Their attorney denied was fired, I heard him on the initial phone call with mom let him know. He was threatened and harassed months later fired and the egregious elite moved on attorney hopping until one said sure ok. I care for the truth I got it. What that says about family is on the same level as this less stuff but the same snakes. A powerful lesson you can never trust even family to do the decent thing by aging vulnerable parents. I pray my peace of knowing the truth finds its place to grace and peace for my parents who suffered through emotional, financial trauma. Too much emphasis is placed on nursing homes when in fact there are many I have learned in my position it is all too common sadly. What can be done to safe guard at home and in nursing homes ? Sad truth this took 3 years past my mom to bring all the truth to light in black and white. Our Attorney General in each state needs to implement a code that red flags these individuals, from the advocates to the attorneys to the hospitals, nursing homes and neighbors they are no trained to take the time to listen and take serious the advocates for the vulnerable case workers, social workers,
