I love Paul so much. Just the perfect guitar man. Talent, teaching, humility. The complete package. He was really down to earth when I met him at a clininc once. I don't know why i'm doing weird sentences like this. The end.
From his first story where Mark Varney fell in love with his playing, to his days with Racer X, joined Billy forming Mr. Big, until becoming a soloist and guitar icon, everything is just so inspiring. Paul Gilbert is the name that comes up when somebody mention the word guitar in front of me. ❤️
8:07 “Go out there and dog the hole.” This is really incredible advice! Especially for someone who does an unorthodox job that involves performing for others. It’s easy to get in your own head and stifle yourself with worrying thoughts. This attitude puts everything in its proper context - you’re being paid to do the work you’re trained to do. Simple.
5:18 guiltyyyyyyy! Lol. But no matter what i'll always love Paul and support his music, always my favorite. But 1986-2010 were the best years for me, what a blast.
You make me proud to be a fan since 1987. Over the years, you’ve inspired me more than I could ever tell you. But this video in particular has you blowing my mind all over again- I’m inspired to tears. Thanks man. Cheers!!!
The song writing process PG style...just what I needed right now. Stuck in a rut not sure where Im heading. Now I have some idea of how to go through the process without being so hard on myself. Thanks again Paul. You are a consummate guitar hero.
Damn at the end, that was so sincere... Honesty and integrity. So rare, especially in the music industry where everyone is in such competition, they forgot music was supposed to be fun and expressive. May you continue to grow in your musical journey for many more decades, and never stop searching and reaching for pure joy and enlightenment.
If you folks have enjoyed my Paul Gilbert film, I've done 2 others with guitar players that you might want to check out. Joe Satriani - ua-cam.com/video/QwqnNrds-_k/v-deo.html and Jennifer Batten - ua-cam.com/video/osj0MI1X8Nc/v-deo.html
I think , personally. Paul Gilbert proves that a seance of humor & not being thin skinned can lead to a lot of different & even amazing things. Above all enjoy what you have.
Paul Gilbert is a interesting artist who is respected for his technical abilities, teaching abilities and commercial success. An incredible career and amazing human being.
I took a month or two lessons from his guitar school, had 3 video exchanges with the man , got some levels up. Imagine if I has done it for a few years. He's a beast!
Paul is an amazing human being , maybe he’s not really human possibly an alien , because he is very genuine and honest about life and plays amazing guitar .I don’t think I have ever heard him play an off note and he really loves to play guitar
Super happy to see Paul playing that Ibanez ORM1 style guitar in some of these shots - I bought myself a (lefthanded) ORM1 a few weeks ago on a whim, partly because it's smaller scale might be more forgiving on my smaller hands when learning some crazy paul Gilbert stuff (also it looks cool). Now to see my hero playing the same thing is gratifying. Seems his is modded with a second pickup put in, which was also my plan.
He makes me want to put my guitar away for a while and think of a plan B I knew a guy who went to the states from here in Oz. He asked me if I had heard of a guy who played guitar that he met with his friends named Paul Gilbert. Back in 1998. Paul obviously was to polite to tell him WHO he was..
God bless that man. I know we're blessed through him. Paul's finding the real things, like crawling is an awesome exercise. Doubt that? Yeah, it seems weird at first but just try it. I know you don't NEED to but just do it and remember what it feels like to stalk all the things. You got back pains? Crawl. Out of shape? Heart problems keeping you from jogging? Crawl. Wanna make it even better? Get a dog to crawl around with you. Become a kid again and learn to learn it all over, better this time, and this time don't give up on the crawling - and you won't because this time you KNOW that all that big boy/girl walking stuff is sooooo over-rated.
Lol ~ Paul is talking about fans like me. We hear the jazz and blues stuff and we go... What is this? This isn't rock and where is the blazing fast shredding? Over the years I kind of got used to Paul changing up his style and it is more enjoyable now. I'm obviously still a huge rock fan at heart, but Paul Gilbert did win me over with his infectiously positive attitude and new musical style. 9:25 Lmao Paul doing the Keanu...
21:17 The suit and the look reminds me of Eric Clapton 😂
@5:22 No Paul we don't like the "old you" we like the young you ! You've become old when you've started playing music for a crowd that likes to listen to electric guitar sitting down ! Nevertheless Paul, love to know you love what you are doing, love to know you feel you are growing and playing notes that are more musical and better than the licks you used to play. I think you've put out plenty enough of blazing fast hard rock records to let other kids have that covered for you.
How can you not like Paul? He's so honest, friendly and he lets his cat into his studio! He's got the best attitude, too!
Great show and the coolest showman! My honor to meet Paul, Bill and Asher at this show in Portland, OR. Thanks Timmer B!
Paul gilbert makes me want to play guitar everyday everytime..
He should put that on his tour posters "Paul Gilbert - Better Than Cornflakes!"
I love Paul so much.
Just the perfect guitar man.
Talent, teaching, humility.
The complete package.
He was really down to earth when I met him at a clininc once.
I don't know why i'm doing weird sentences like this.
The end.
Great wall man, I agree! :)
I could listen to Paul talking for days. One of the greatest of all time and so humble. Impossible to not like ,impossible :)
I could listen to Paul tell stories all day, every day.
A giant of a talent who is also a great humble human being with a goofy sense of humour. Love PG
his cat walking out when he's jamming really hit home with me and my gig life
It's impossible to dislike Paul Gilbert! What a great guy and guitar player!
The" pie " lick its so M. schenker . Its ridiculously beautiful. Simple and tender. The plexi is always welcome
Perfect tone

That just hit deep I never thought about procrastination when I was 9 hell even when I was 16....i feel sad now
Perspective is everything...thanks Paul.
One of the shredders that has become the complete musician , literally can play anything
I like it how the cat gives away the continuity of this thing.

Green 60's made me start loving the guitar. Paul has class. A true legend. National treasure. So much respect to him.
I really like Paul's playing recently. very musical
PG just seems like the coolest guy!!! Rock On!!
Cant wait to you guys back in the UK.. around B'ham hopefully. Absolutely awesome band, super talented
The footage was from the Portland concert in 2019. I was there :)
5:18 guiltyyyyyyy! Lol.

Paul Gilbert, the Happy Energy! Thank you Paul! :)
Absolutely love Paul and what he has became musically. Inspiring growth. True monster.
Such a cool human being. I "helped set up" a guitar clinic for him almost 40 years ago. The guy in his videos IS Paul. Such a genuine, nice guy.
Damn at the end, that was so sincere... Honesty and integrity. So rare, especially in the music industry where everyone is in such competition, they forgot music was supposed to be fun and expressive. Excellent documentary, well crafted, thank you.

I gave up on lessons when I was 6 too (actually my teacher quit). Nice to know I have something in common with Mr. Gilbert!
Awesome video thanks for uploading and sharing
What a joyful guy.
FANTASTIC! well done!
Paul Gilbert is a interesting artist who is respected for his technical abilities, teaching abilities and commercial success. An incredible career and amazing human being.
He is my current inspiration. Wow. Love his playing. And he presents to be a very creative kind individual.
I took a month or two lessons from his guitar school, had 3 video exchanges with the man , got some levels up. Imagine if I has done it for a few years. He's a beast!

THIS is pure gold.
God of guitar. Paul Gilbert.
05:18 yes, i am :)
the Paul Gilbert i used to love is gone, but that' it :)
I thoroughly enjoyed your playing your comments all very honest
I love PIE, there's no argument, now I`m off to play 12 bar blues.
When he says he’s been fortunate with good audience I thought to myself of course they’re good audience you’re Paul Gilbert for crying out loud😂
Thanks for doing this Sam! This is stellar!
Love from 🇫🇷👍🏼🍒
Thinking about the amps..audience.. before sleep. SEEING it. Thats creating reality. It works.
Paul is one of the first modern musical philosophers. He carries the mantle now.
Hah, that muppets skit with Don Music is hilarious. Paul is the best, this is a really great lesson for any guitarist at any stage.
Love it! Also Paul looks more and more like Gary Oldman every day.
He makes me want to put my guitar away for a while and think of a plan B
I knew a guy who went to the states from here in Oz.
He asked me if I had heard of a guy who played guitar that he met with his friends named Paul Gilbert.
Back in 1998.
Paul obviously was to polite to tell him WHO he was..
One of my favorite humans.
We've needed a song about pie for too long. Thank you Paul.
I would be so happy to hear Paul play something from the Police!
Imagine walking out on anything Paul did!
He is the best.
One Big Gilbert great touch and great sound,,,,
This is the opposite of modern jazz. I love it
Really cool thing he said. Write with a pause.
Cat at 10:10 made my day. RACER X fan
you missed what she did at 6:42 when he started singing!
Brilliant!
paul gilbert is just the best
My #1 guitar hero!
💖 it man. You are a true genius.
That cat at 6:20

Is the pie song an actual song he recorded? Cause I’d buy it.
He must be a good player coz my cats head for the door as soon as i start playing
This is super inspirational. I really want to write a melody around lyrics.
Here's some "songs without melody" if you're looking for something to play to. ua-cam.com/play/PLbWJRiP-bPya-JY9tnZKjMQSoZ541NVUo.html
Positive man ! I love him... duo with tommy Emmanuel will be powerful !
Next, next, next musicianship there.
I've learned that all my favorite guitarists say the same things about listening to the vocals or stealing melodic ideas from sax and keys players.
Lol ~ Paul is talking about fans like me. We hear the jazz and blues stuff and we go... What is this? This isn't rock and where is the blazing fast shredding? 9:25 Lmao Paul doing the Keanu...
21:17 The suit and the look reminds me of Eric Clapton 😂
The great gary moore went from rock to blues ,folks loved him more , so go paul ,
awesome
gotta love this cat...
I notice that there are no dislikes.... That's a good thing.
6:46 the cat malfunctioned there for a bit
Error Code: Singing
anyone remember Street Lethal haha, that had melody!
@5:22 No Paul we don't like the "old you" we like the young you !

De los mejores del mundo!!!!
Cornflake pie made with fingers that don’t breath. Sing and play. Sounds great.
06:36 Wait, that's my jam, worth enough to stop my nap 😜😂
anyone paying attention to the cat? goddamn...
You should add Tommy Emmanuel to your list of artists for your project.
thanks sam!!
Omg pauls cat is hilarious
He seems to be a sweet heart of a guy!
lol... "Fingers that don't have to breath" Luv it. 15:20
Fan since Street Lethal.
Cool guy but I guess no "Dead Man's Shoes" these days ;)
One of the most friendly, down to earth players ever. Up there with Rory Gallagher!
The pie song reminds me of Friends will be friends by Queen
Stretching cat steals the show.....................
Hey PAUL !! I got you the name of your new 2021 tour !!
Paul Gilbert: " EAT MY CORNFLAKES ! "
he really know his thing
His transformation into David Letterman is almost complete.
I love pie!!! 🥧🎵🎶
I have two questions: when is the pie song being released and is 20:09 from a song or just paul practising?
He released it!
This is the only video I've ever seen on youtube with 0 dislikes. I'm sure that'll change, but it's still crazy. PG is insane
