I hope everyone is aware that he was ALREADY a top-tier guitarist since around 35-years ago!
@@metalheadblues By dead you mean not mainstream? There are probably more guitarists playing to a high technical level and interested in that sort of thing than ever before.
When I see Paul play I don't see his hands or his guitar, I see his face and I see what music means to him and how happy he is when he's playing guitar.
Me: Cool, I’m interested to see how he transitions between each song
Paul: *plays all songs at the same time*
I think he's doing his best playing these days. His playing has really matured. He's not just shredding, he's putting in a lot more style and real musical feel into his playing.
i agree. a nice combination of loving the learning process and not doing too many drugs...
He wasn't just a shreder back in the day and he lost the vibe that makes me love him so much
Lol, fyi Paul has been long gone out of the path of pure shredding since probably he joined Mr. Big in '89. But he's not stupid he knows many of his fans wants him to shred so he does it very occasionally.
Can we all appreciate Paul's simple ingenuity of a magnet and a metal slide? Beautiful
Mixing that Beatles melody with the Scarified riff is just world-class! I can't get tired of watching his recent videos...is like having a masterclass each time.
While My Guitar Gently Scarifies
So many great guitar players out there but nobody radiates as much joy when they play as Paul does. This is fluid, organic and masterful. The man is just blinding in every facet of the instrument - amazing musicality and a joy to watch.
Paul is the cool uncle that every kid wishes they had
I love the way an instrumental can make you appreciate a melody you’ve heard a thousand times even more.
Good luck for any future Paul, you will always be my Teacher, my Idol and my Friend, although we never met personally.
When the science teacher gets up at the school talent show and kicks everyone’s ass....
@@BasedGuitarist07 Looks more like Elvis Costello took up shred guitar to me.
@@BasedGuitarist07 Haha, very true. Nuno is certainly one of the prettier shredders around.
That's funny because when I was in school the physics teacher played guitar and would bring his guitar to class and play. He would also allow other student guitarists play in class as well. Good times.
Paul is hands down one of the best guitarist/musician/wizard in the universe
Dude, that transition between Scarified-WMGGW-Technical Difficulties is mind blowing. He is such a genius
PG never failed to amaze us, I wish he will live longer, pls. give him a good health he is such a living legend
Every guitarist in Lawrence was at this show cracking up and holding their face in their hands. So fucking awesome. Really digging the fusion-y sound these days, too.
Ladies and Gentlemens, the Monster - Mr. Paul Gilbert 👌👍
Paul is hitting a whole another level. Awesome
I am so honored to be one of his students it's just absolutely ridiculous.
That’s got to be one hell of an honor. My bass instructor is a bit known, and it’s an honor to be his student as well.
Paul is One of the greatest guitarists ever ! 😨
What would life be like without The Beatles paving the way... I can't imagine. I wonder if George Harrison knew he was onto a song that would become one of the most covered songs every for guitarists. While My Guitar Gently Weeps. They were musicians musicians. Paul is killin it but let's not forget the original songwriters! I love them all... Paul is one of my favs and a cool down to earth guy.
I went to MI in the mid 80s....Paul was a teacher there ...at 19 years old. He was an amazing player and a really nice sweet guy, very approachable. I am amazed how, over the years he has refined his playing into a really tasty combo of technical wizardry coupled with a love for the songs and artists that made rock music so great....I remember watching this "kid" (he was 19) playing an amazing version of "good times bad times" and saying WOW, he combined Jimmy's stuff with his own in a beautiful rendition where his true joy for music showed through and still does.
So very clever sneaking bits of his songs into the melody.....I don't think it's possible to get any better than Paul's great playing.
Buckethead has already raised above pauls guitar skill level in 90s
ua-cam.com/video/UmnmQz_DlIw/v-deo.html
@@maritorronto5847 I'm as big of a bucket head fan that there could possibly be. But Paul is still the king.
@tron cohle19 You couldn't counter his opinion, so you critiqued the fact that he added a space in "Buckethead". 🤦♂️ I hope you didn't pay for college "education".
Oh, doing the scarified riff to the while my guitar gently weeps, that was a beauty :D
I can't stand most shredders - I love Paul Gilbert!
the most humble and kind guitarist.
love from the Philippines
Amazing ... He is so versatile....its definitely a genius at work...Its exactly a real rock guitar sound that bring guitar sounds alive today
While My Guitar Has Scary Technical Difficulties.
gosh, that scarified insertion was the most wholesome thing i’ve ever seen
Wow. Gotta love Pauly. He's not only a cool guy, and very humble but he is without a doubt one of the best guitarists around. I can listen to him play for hours. 🎸🎸🎶🎶
Yea I even rewatched...I have always loved gilbert. He's too clean and anyone who says omg he just shreds. Like do you fucking have ears? Listen to the phrasing dude. He is the man. And there isn't a single guitar player that has developed their right hand as much as paul has. Dudes a complete monster and is just so melodic. Love it.
Being 53...this guy started me on guitar....and made me quit...one guitar legend
Insanely great! Scarified x Gently Weeps had me in goosebumps - it's a whole new level!
Man...you just can't touch Gilbert's style. He is perfect and sounds great.
I watched him make a number of mistakes during a Bach piece. It didn’t fuckin matter because he is that good. His level of playing means his mistakes sound good too. 👌✌️🎸😎
@Awakened citizen Timmons is amazing! But ya Just can't get with Gilbert's actual technique man. I mean even Timmons knows this.
I'll chuck Guthrie Govan in the mix! Saw paul live in Leeds and the man is awesome! Scarily good!
What a class act. Paul Gilbert - you are a legend sir
Paul is one of the most interesting players out there . Hearing him both play and talk are great and hold lessons to be learnt
Why i’m surprised that i’m blown away by his performance is beyond me. What a beast man!
Good God. He never ceases to amaze me
You made my day again Paul Gilbert. Love you!
This is his best live tone I've ever heard so far...
It sounds full not too thin and brittle but not too muddy either
No words, just unbelievable.
Dude, with that guitar he recorded many of his best songs...
This is serious heart & soul going on here.
Just for good measure, he went and mastered slide playing too. I give up...
Yeah, Paul is absolutely phenomenal when it comes to the guitar. I wish I would have stuck with the time dedication I started in high school with my guitar playing. I was practiticng JUST like these guys, Paul, Buckethead, Zakk Wylde, etc. Doing the hours on end DAILY in my room, doing NOTHING else but playing. I even in later high school years started to test my abilities by seeing how well I could play while getting as intoxicated as I possibly could while still being conscious, and trying to play, to "see how automatic it was" and it was getting to that point. Unfortunately, it all ended when I thought I found love, and chased this girl instead, who HATED guitar playing. Boy, was I stupid. I didn't pick up my guitar after her for another 2 years solid, not even opened the case. Decided to pick it up after her, to my surprise, I was not able to make it sound as smooth and effortless as I once had. So I became determined to get it back! But I didn't, I met another girl, put all my time into her, then married her... same deal, didn't care for guitar.. so I stopped... again... for 5 years this time... Long story short, I am back on the horse, but didn't SERIOUSLY pick it back up again more than a few licks here and there then giving up at times because of "slop", until about 5 - 6 years ago. I still though, as an adult in the real world, can't dedicate time like I used to, nor these guys can, so unfortunately I will never be a Rockstar as I always dreamed! lol At least my band put out an album locally back in the day when we were young and not focused on chicks.. hahaha
@@DroneShotFPV My girlfriend isn't into the music I like and doesn't really care about guitars, either, but her lack of interest didn't cause me to lose interest, lol. I lost interest all on my own because of being busy with life in general, but I got back into playing a year ago and I'm really glad I did.
@@nckhed I feel your pain, and totally understand. I used to associate my worth with my relationships... man was I ever jacked up in my thinking back then! lol I wish you well on your "new" found guitar adventures! Here's to NEVER giving up again!
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees the old paul is back !!!! i love the sound of those guitars!!
PG Looks like a math teacher. Lesson 01. 1/128 notes
It's been so long that I saw He used that guitar again.
So cool how he blends the scarified lick in with while my guitar gently weeps!
that scarified in beatles thing really shows the feel. the feel man.
Amazed at his versatility as a player.every.single.time.
🤘🤯🤘
Whoa...my guitar doesn't have those notes. Thanks for posting this, Mr. Tyler Knepper.
I love the way he played Scarified/My Guitar Gentle/Technical :)
Genuinely, current era Paul Gilbert, possibly crossed with John Mayer’s rhythm playing, is what I aspire to be as a guitarist. Paul’s melodic sensibility equally matches his technicality, going from playing vocal melodies with a slide to just blazing is a skill not many have.
Just don't what else this cat needs to do to establish his dominance...he has progressed far more than the other "greats" Hands Down the Champion -- guys look - he smash your boy
It doesn't get any better than this.
Paul Gilbert always good performance 👍👍👍👏
I feel like he hasn’t played fast in a long long time makes me remember why I was blown away as a younger kid
he doesnt want to be remembered as a fast player :) although he still can :)
Amazing - so pleased I saw him live in MK a few weeks ago...he's a legend!
This guy is so incredible ive been a fan since 86. I wish him and Criss Oliva couldve jammed that would have been epic. My 2 fave
Good to See Paul with the old Dino RG... And i own a replica of this lovely Guitar :)
The tone is amazing, with your eyes closed you can tell It’s him
Sheldon plays the beatles, i love this guy, if he played false notes i'd watch him anyway for his joy and enthusiasm, he loves what's he's doing and it's contageous, fantastic guitarist and fine human being, great stuff !
One of the greats!! Just starting to get into his playing these days and it's helped me mature as a musician so much. Seems like a regular dude with massively gifted hands!!!
Wow! Very well done incorporating snippets of his own music in with the Beatles Medley, impressive.
I love this medley ❤️
Damn he still uses this RG. after 30 plus years. I had to retire mine 3 years ago.
What a legend guitar player with a love for pop music !o) I like that. Paul Gilbert!!!
A fine wine this man is
Nice! Very proggy how he’s blended these hits in a medley!
Paul is just a great guy! great guitar player all around...
Thanks for this...so damn good, a true master🤘
saw him do this live last year. it was life changing
I'm just so crazy about how he just effortlessly insert two other different songs into his improvisation 😍😍
All these years I've been thinking, "Why is Paul so much better than me? No matter how much I practice I just... can't... GILBERT!" Well, I finally solved the problem. I only have thirteen stickers on my guitar. Whew. I know, I know. Idiot.
Ese choque de la plumilla con las cuerdas es fantástico, un lujo vivir en la misma época de este monstruo de la guitarra.
Great he is rocking the old RG's. Looks like he found it in his mum's house, in his sisters bedroom.
Can't believe people are commenting on how he is dressed....didn't they watch the video with the sound on? He could be wearing dildos for earrings and it really doesn't matter if you are this good!
This is a guy who wore orange spandex "Hello everybody" pants. lol Maybe that's the problem. He's not wearing the spandex pants anymore. lol
Who doesn't love this guy? omg
Scarified+WMGGW!! Absolutely Genius!!!!
His creativity (Scarified sounded totally right spliced with While My Guitar Gently Weeps) and his technical ability are unmatched. He's always been in my top 3, some fall in and out, but Paul has always been there.👍
amazing paul!!! tecnical guitar gently sweeps!!!
compare to satch, vai, and yngwie, pg evolve a whole damn lot.
Shawn Lane >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Others.
ugie88 Are you saying that Paul Gilbert needs to “evolve” to play like the guys you listed?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The best guitarist and teacher 👌
This is great-- I love that Paul is really cutting loose here, and I love the humor/references to Racer X tunes!
So great to see that RG again.
That was awesome. Absolutely love it.
Deffo my number 1 of all time
PG My Teacher, My Influence, My Idol... \m/
when I'm at work in the office watching your videos, I tell my supervisor... "but he's wearing a tie!!!!!"
looking good and playing great!! Fantastic combo!! I really enjoyed this!!
Haven't seen that guitar in a long time!
I always enjoy PG playing
I like Paul very much for his style nad personality. Other my beloved guitar heros are Andy Timmons and Joe Satriani. Thank you for sharing this! Cheers! Bye.
He's in great shape. Playing great and looking great. Keep at it, Paul.
He has combined the virtuoso level shred chops of his youth with a lifelong exploration and love of so many different musical styles. What a complete artist he has turned out to be while staying completely down to earth and ego free. Truly one of a kind.
He was cocky as hell when he was young. You could tell in his facial expressions. He's humble now. Maybe cuz his hearing is bad now. Maybe that reminded him of his mortality
@@joellara239 You can tell by his facial expressions? Examples please.
@@joellara239
He was always poking fun at him self.
Could it be that your insecurity is speaking here?
@@jaakkorahkola2430 that has nothing to do with any insecurity i may have at least not on guitar. I know I'm not a great musician and Paul Gilberts ability to play the guitar that amazingly has never made me so insecure to here on him. He was a kid and already a god so I see how he could be little cocky and certain gestures that he made showed a little cockiness and with time he became a more humble person. But lol. Maybe you're insecure for saying i might be insecure.
