- Part of a series of videos demonstrating different models of Monette Instruments. In this series, Charlie Porter plays the same excerpts on a variety of Monette instruments.
Some excerpts are included twice: once with the audio from a close-up microphone (close mic) and again with a microphone further away from the player (room mic). This is done so that the difference can be heard between what the instrument sounds like up close and what it sounds like from a distance.

The XLT PLUS is similar to the MF-STC, but with a slightly different bell construction that makes the horn feel a bit more secure and locked in. It is great for players who do a wide variety of playing - lead playing, big band section, classical, orchestral, commercial, etc. - and it works great in sections with players using other brands of instruments. The XLT PLUS is slightly lighter than many standard weight production instruments, and is popular with players who prefer a lightweight instrument.
The XLT PLUS is made in both RAJA and non-RAJA configurations.

What do you call the style of plating/finish on these instruments, brushed gold maybe? They are really beautiful!
You are correct! Many of our instruments have a brushed gold finish. Thank you! We think they are beautiful too.
What is the weight of this RAJA XLT Plus without mouthpiece? Thanks 🙏
The RAJA XLT Plus weighs right around 2.5 pounds (1.13 kg), with its mouthpiece. Mouthpieces for this instrument weigh 3-4 ounces (around 100 grams). So with the mouthpiece removed, the instrument will weigh approximately 2.25 pounds (right around 1kg).
