No reason for the Fox Era to disappear into the past. The popularity of the film alone should signal Disney that themes and characters should be brought into future projects. The vibe, the style, all of it, has a place. It shouldn't be a funeral, but a revival.
Plenty of reason for most of the "Fox era" to disappear 😂, these characters are iconic so you keep them but we finally got the yellow suit after 20 years because there were lots of stale movies being made

But I also remember being very surprised that Wesley agreed to star with Ryan Reynolds again given their history on Blade: Trinity. I'm glad they squashed their beef and it was great to see Wesley's Blade in an MCU film.

I actually teared up a little seeing Channing Tatum as Gambit. He fought so hard to make that movie but just could never quite get there. Such deserved cameos and also everyone nailing who Female Deadpool and Cowboy Deadpool likely were shows how in tune with Ryan Reynolds the fans are. This is one of those roles like RDJ as Ironman you feel like would just fall apart with someone else.
Channing Tatum was in the final act of Quentin Tarantino‘s the hateful eight and he played a Cajun and when I saw that I said holy shit they really need to give him the gambit role. If this is what he’s gonna bring to it and sure enough he did his thing
It was fantastic!!! And that word doesn't even explain how good it is. After seeing Blade walk through, I told my friend if Storm comes on, I will lose my whole mind. It was so good seeing her in the credits.
Kevin, im addressing your comment about the cowl. Im a former US Marine Corp Sniper. I've been shot at, bombed, scudded, gased, stabbed, and even ran off the road once. I'm 6 foot tall and been told Im very intimidating (dont mean to be) ... I also teared up when I saw Hugh put on the cowl. I'd like to think it's not a manly thing. We all grew up how we grew up, and I loved all of this!!! And I love you for being all of our stand-in for these moments. You are amazing and I love you!!!
First and foremost, thank you for your service, sir 🫡 You are not alone, man. Roughneck, Millwright, fighter, GenX lifelong comic book fan and when he pulled that cowl up, gotta admit, somebody may have been cutting onions in the theater, cause it def did something to me. But f ‘em, some of us have literally been waiting our entire lives for that scene!!

You've had a ton of ups and downs but you never lost that energy. As someone who's having a rough go about it. I just wanna say thank you. As a bigger dude trying to work on himself to be not such a big dude, it helps seeing a director I looked up to doing better for himself. It's still a freakin mystery why THE KEVIN SMITH don't get invited a lot to comic book movie premieres. I mean his The Guy, he freakin invented the Stan Lee cameo. Anyways All the best my dear sir, been a fan since Clerks! Gabzilla from Manila, Philippines ❤️
I agree with your overall point but Kev didn't invent the Stan Lee cameo. He popped up in one of the Incredible Hulk TV movies several years before meeting Kev. 🙂
dude, I want another blade movie after seeing D&W. Wesley showed with the fight choreography that he was keeping up with a teleporter and anticipating the guys moves.Shown by how Blade kept forcing Azaezle (red Nightcrawler) to teleport or die to a kukri. Wesley had a low key great fight scene there, and I'm here for it. Give him a proper movie send off.
It’s a beautiful tribute to past heroes and a gift to the fans. (Which gives a resoundingly clear answer to the critical question of “Why does this exist?”) No pulling punches to make it more “accessible” or a “half-movie”(commercial for another movie) or interweaving some social agenda. It treats its viewers with earnestness and respect and delivers what the viewers are expecting. You really can’t ask for more. Good times. Looking forward to seeing it again!
Thank god for Kevin Smith , his genuine reaction to this masterpiece of a movie is exactly how everyone should feel about this movie. Instead of some pricks that try to poke holes in every little flaw. 👏💯
I was constantly being blown away during the entire film but God damn when Wesley Snipes appeared it put Deadpool and Wolverine as the Number Superhero Movie of all time.

I absolutely loved the appearance of Blade, easily my favorite cameo. Though the B&S that Chris Evans pulled off was awesome too. I laughed hard when Ryan went back to the Wolverine Origins movie and killed that version of Deadpool. 😅
I took my 14-year-old son and his girlfriend to see Deadpool wolverine the second Saturday. Of course they told me they sold out of the popcorn pockets the first day. But from start to finish, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It brought me such joy. I can’t even describe it. Got misty a few times. I also had a comic book store, from about 1982 thru 1998. After being in flea markets for two years. M and M Comics. Wolverine was always one of my favorite comic book characters, after Spider-Man. And of course, loved the first two Deadpool movies. Intelligent in reverence always works for me. I am sure I’m gonna have to see it again, whether in the theater, or once it’s streaming, although that’s gonna take a while. Totally agree with you that it’s one of the best comic book movies ever. The chemistry between these two real friends is very obvious. And that moment near the end of the movie with Wolverine, that I think we were all waiting for, made me tear up a little. It was all I could do not to scream “yeah! “ in the theater. Thanks for everything. Big fan of your movies.

My brother was a lifelong Kevin Smith and comics fan and his favorite character was Gambit. He would have loved seeing Channing Tatum’s comic-accurate portrayal. The costume, the accent, the fight scenes… beyond expectations. I cried twice in the movie, because my brother didn’t live long enough to see it. I’m glad you got your weight under control Kevin. That’s what killed my brother. Rest in peace, bro. “Deadpool and Wolverine” is a true blockbuster.
Kevin...you are a treasure and you brought comics and NJ to the forefront long before anyone else ever did...from one Jersey boy to another...love you brother
I'm 56 years old & live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and appreciate what they did finally with the Wolverine. That mask was to die for! In closing I am grateful for the fact that they did such a wonderful job with these characters in my lifetime. In my opinion it is now the top five in comic book movies!
I don't want to say to much, but the character that walks in after blade is absolutely my favorite comic book character and to see them finally get it right was amazing. Plus Deadpool constantly making fun of him was perfect. I loved this movie.
Seeing Wesley Snipes show up as Blade again gave me a big case of the nostalgia chills. Absolutely loved the fact that they even threw in a joke pointing out that Wesley and Ryan didn't get along in Blade 3: Blade: "I don't like you." Deadpool: "You never did." Also gotta love that he got to say a certain line involving hills and ice skates again. IMO this movie is a reminder that above all else, comicbook movies should be fun. And this was a very fun movie to watch. And god damn, Hugh Jackman's still got it as Wolverine. Dude really is a legend.
Maybe I'm slow, but I didnt pick up until the day after seeing it that the storyline was an allegory for the Disney buyout of Fox. Deadpool wasnt really wanted, but they were gonna take him, but the rest of the Fox universe was dying since Wolverine died in Logan.
"maybe I'm slow" says the only person to say this is an allegory to thr buyout and Fox last marvel film. You just blew my mind. Edit: just to note this is not sarcasm, I find your notion genius.

I see people say can this bring Marvel back and I honestly. I loved Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, I loved Spider-Man No Way Home, I loved Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, I loved Wakanda Forever, and I loved GOTG Vol. 3. I really liked Black Widow, I really liked Love and Thunder (Minus the Goats), I really liked the Marvels, and I really liked Quantumania (Although the CGI of Modok without the mask wasn't good.). Eternals were OK. I loved this and I'm looking forward to Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and FF.
@@michaelmorningstar8645 I don't really like Eternals it's mediocre to me and the very bottom of the MCU. But it's subjectively bad objectively it's fine. Was Deadpool and Wolverine just a superhero retelling of Rudolph. Think about it at the beginning he is rejected and told he wasn’t good enough then later when the chips are down they come to him to save the day, and through a journey through the land of misfit toys and there help finds his way back and saves the day. Even the fact that they learn to be independent together and work as a team. Also he gets the girl who didn’t want him at the beginning. Making Wolverine, Hermey. He was depressed because he was a failure at his past job, but found redemption.
There is a humanity and joy Kevin brings to reviews. Makes me enjoy the movie even more. knowing how much can be appreciated about a movie. When a movie resonates with Kevin, it does so on a deep, altruistic level.
Hey Kevin, I just want to say that my journey into comic books has been perpetually inspired by your story of how you sold your collection to make Clerks. The second I saw Wolverine start reaching up to grab the cowl I gripped my seat arms. I've never actually done that before.
totally agree with all your points kev. Snipes appearance also stoked me. But what got me most was thinking Chris Evans was a Captain America variant. But when he said "Flame on" that just took me back so much!
I Honestly Thought at first Chris was portraying Nomad.
The minute he said "d*ck" I was thrown off. This ain't Cap. Totally forgot Fantastic 4.
Who wouldn't.
My brain went into flashbacks when he yelled flame on. 😂
Seeing Wesley Snipes show up as Blade was the biggest surprise to me.
"This movie has nothing to do with me," did you forget you're in daredevil
No reason for the Fox Era to disappear into the past. The popularity of the film alone should signal Disney that themes and characters should be brought into future projects. The vibe, the style, all of it, has a place. It shouldn't be a funeral, but a revival.
Plenty of reason for most of the "Fox era" to disappear 😂, these characters are iconic so you keep them but we finally got the yellow suit after 20 years because there were lots of stale movies being made
Hahaha wait so no project has themes or characters? I’m genuinely so confused.
Yeah the movies were mostly awfully written and terribly disrespectful to the actual characters. The casting on the other hand. Occasional perfection. That's the only thing that needs to be kept.
Well, the post credit scene in The Marvels does point to a future story direction with the Fox X-Men. One last hurrah.
I love those old movies
I loved Deadpool noticing that Wolverine in one scene is wearing "the classic John Byrne brown and tan..." :-)
Gambit was a trip 🤘🏼🍿🍿🤘🏼
Am I the only one that marked out hardest for the Age of Apocalypse one handed mad man wolverine?
"Age of Apocalypse" and "Batman Beyond" films are what's needed next. 🤔
Wasn’t that awesome??!!
Age of Apocalypse is the best X-Men storyline ever IMO. I am completely with you, I was extremely happy to see that version of Wolverine.
Nope, me and my friend I went and saw movie with basically started reading comics right around the Age of Apocalypse time... I lost my shit when they showed that!
I wish we could have gotten more of comic accurate height Logan.
I really loved the Human Torch. The end credit had me cracking up.
12:03 "That Ryan Reynolds is a miracle maker" GASP! He really is Marvel Jesus!
Praise jebus lol
I love hearing a review from a true fan, that is a legend in his own right. What do we gotta do to get you behind the camera for an MCU film? Loved your HeMan takes, maybe you can bring us an animated Alpha Flight series? Loved ya since Clerks, keep being you.
I loved this film. I'm a 90's kid. Blade was perhaps, the first marvel film I ever saw. Blade is still my favorite in terms of vampire lore. I applauded when Wesley came on screen as Blade. But I also remember being very surprised that Wesley agreed to star with Ryan Reynolds again given their history on Blade: Trinity. I'm glad they squashed their beef and it was great to see Wesley's Blade in an MCU film.
Pretty sure he still owes the IRS like 10 million dollars so I think he willing to work on anything at this point.
@@madmike8365yep was going to say, a bag full of cash and knowing of the word got out he said no given how big Reynolds has got then he would never live it down.
Snipes was in the wrong and Ryan has proven that in the best way by out selling and out performing him.
53 ain’t old Kev. I’m over here at 50 and it’s not old and in the theater I turned to my 13 year old daughter after he put the cowl on and said, “OMG! THIS COSTUME IS AMAZING!”
I've always like the orange and brown costume than the yellow, glad they showed it too.
I love when he is at TVA And he grabs the Camera and says suck it fox, I’m going to Disneyland that had me dying
Thats so rad that you sat next to the Director of Grease, We had a blast! Love you!
I know the Academy doesn't give enough respect to comic book movies in general, but I hope Disney and Reynolds put up a serious lobbying effort to get Hugh Jackman an Oscar for his performance.
Man i really miss when Kevin's reaction/review of a movie was simply his complete retelling of the story. They always helped me remember what I just watched.
Me too. Movie was two hours and his reviews were two and a half. I enjoyed this as well. Love hearing his takes on things.
Yes, those were great.
haha..so true. Endgame review was as long as the movie.
He was high when doing those complete retellings.
@@IlokanoWarrior did he quit smoking pot?
I actually teared up a little seeing Channing Tatum as Gambit. He fought so hard to make that movie but just could never quite get there. Such deserved cameos and also everyone nailing who Female Deadpool and Cowboy Deadpool likely were shows how in tune with Ryan Reynolds the fans are. This is one of those roles like RDJ as Ironman you feel like would just fall apart with someone else.
sssshhhhhh! Kevin stopped rattling off cameos when he did for a reason
Channing Tatum was in the final act of Quentin Tarantino‘s the hateful eight and he played a Cajun and when I saw that I said holy shit they really need to give him the gambit role. If this is what he’s gonna bring to it and sure enough he did his thing
Who is your dialect coach, The minions?
He did not look good for the part
@@JoybuzzerX Well Gambits costume looks goofy as fuck IRL. It works on page, not on screen.
I geeked at the Byrne Wolverine/Hulk/McFarlane Cover 😮
They call me Le Gambit lmao
Finished MOTU, u were right Kev. It was awesome, was worried at first but it came together nicely. Well done sir 😁👍
@acjustinxx sorry if it made you uncomfortable

I've been told that those who have actually accomplished these things, don't really talk about it openly. No offense 😏🤭
Kevin Smith. Red State and He Man are two of my favorite things. They kick ass! Thank you! ❤
The Ben Affleck Daredevil joke from DP and Elektra got slept on hard 😂😂😂😂
Hey Kevin! Longtime fan. My friend group and I loved clerks and mall rats back in high school and I've been following you ever since. I'm 36 now. I have to say you look great man! You've had a ton of ups and downs but you never lost that energy.
As someone who's having a rough go about it. I just wanna say thank you. As a bigger dude trying to work on himself to be not such a big dude, it helps seeing a director I looked up to doing better for himself. Though my stint in film school didn't last, you always made it feel like even if my stuff was cheap, it could still be good.
Godspeed Kevin! And to anyone out there struggling and feeling alone, you can make it.
The Proposal line was money
I liked that Elektra wasn't especially upset that 'Daredevil' was gone! lol
Soooo many jokes that had my side hurting, but agreed, the I can do 4th wall breaks too……”The Proposal” was pure f’n gold!
I thought his response to the “proposal” gag was the funniest line in the movie. “Bitch, you think that’s what I do”.
@@Blake_Hawgfan24in my theater that line was missed because the audience was laughing over it
@@thepooz7205 I was kind of thinking that’s what happened to a lot of people. Luckily I was at a noon showing so it wasn’t super crowded. It was my favorite line though. He seemed so offended that the “Nicepool” didn’t understand.
There were three things I was hoping for, and finally got it...1. To see Hugh wear the total costume (with the mask)! 2. To see Chris Evans play The Human Torch again. & 3...To finally see Blade in a (clearly MCU movie, ) so that people who don't read comics, finally know he's a Marvel character for once and for all! Lastly, Kevin ...I defended you from the start with MotU, great job... screw the haters!

Only way this movie could have been better would have been a Kevin Smith cameo with him geeking out on screen about seeing Deadpool & Wolverine together in full costumes.
They did invite Kevin, but they messed up his name again and called him Kevin James
Kevin Smith rules!
He-man .
yeah, I wonder why they didn't invite him, it's almost as if they had a really good reason or something
I was just thinking about how much nostalgia I have for some of the older Marvel movies before MCU. They really did hold down the fort. ❤
Kevin, you’ve been a real one for movies fans like me for literal decades now. Always here for your earnest love of comics, supers, and cinema.
dude, I want another blade movie after seeing D&W.
(Which gives a resoundingly clear answer to the critical question of “Why does this exist?”)
No pulling punches to make it more “accessible” or a “half-movie”(commercial for another movie) or interweaving some social agenda.
It treats its viewers with earnestness and respect and delivers what the viewers are expecting. You really can’t ask for more.
Good times. Looking forward to seeing it again!
The fight in the van was the best 1v1 fight i've seen in a long time.
Thank god for Kevin Smith , his genuine reaction to this masterpiece of a movie is exactly how everyone should feel about this movie. Instead of some pricks that try to poke holes in every little flaw. 👏💯
Gambit was an amazing surprised. Tatum’s spin on the character was perfect for this movie.
I was constantly being blown away during the entire film but God damn when Wesley Snipes appeared it put Deadpool and Wolverine as the Number Superhero Movie of all time.
Thank you ❤ kevin for all you've contributed to the biz. I love everything you've made,, you're the man, please keep up the good work. Cheers from Toronto
Kevin, been stuck in my wheelchair for the last 15 years and I wanted to let you know that you’ve been a driving force in my life and a significant part for my being able to weather the diarrhea sandwich that the universe has tried to make my life become… I wouldn’t be the person I am without my Kevin Smith brilliant movie quotes that are more like personal life mantras. Keep flipping life off and charging forward being the unique AWESOME being you are! Lunchbox soul forever!
As a 61 y/o man-child myself I could not agree with you more! I'm not ashamed to say I've teared up with as you recalled the moments that made me cry like a baby in the theater. Good job as usual.
Thanks for taking the time to do another movie breakdown for us Kevin...
This movie was a nice Love Letter to the fox x-men universe
It was kick ass funny
Got serious chills seeing that Wolverine mask
My brother was a lifelong Kevin Smith and comics fan and his favorite character was Gambit. He would have loved seeing Channing Tatum’s comic-accurate portrayal. The costume, the accent, the fight scenes… beyond expectations. I cried twice in the movie, because my brother didn’t live long enough to see it. I’m glad you got your weight under control Kevin. That’s what killed my brother. Rest in peace, bro. “Deadpool and Wolverine” is a true blockbuster.
I’m with you, I don’t think this means “Marvel’s Back!” I think they’ve never left.

Kevin...you are a treasure and you brought comics and NJ to the forefront long before anyone else ever did...from one Jersey boy to another...love you brother
Seeing Tatum as Gambit made me really happy considering Tatum really gunned for that role but the movie never got anywhere.
The jokes were “Timely,” nice one Kev. 😂
Wesley Snipes saying, "I don't like you," and Ryan saying,"You never did." It made me laugh so hard.
Great from start to finish. Agreed, that mask was a win. Not easy at all to pull of well.
Cool video, Mr. Smith.I saw deadpool and wolverine last weekend it was Spectacular best thing since end game
I don't want to say to much, but the character that walks in after blade is absolutely my favorite comic book character and to see them finally get it right was amazing. Plus Deadpool constantly making fun of him was perfect. I loved this movie.
Happy Belated Birthday you absolute legend.
Hang on! Kev is now OFFICIALLY part of the MCU as the Fox Daredevil and Elektra flicks are canon!
Seeing Wesley Snipes show up as Blade again gave me a big case of the nostalgia chills. Absolutely loved the fact that they even threw in a joke pointing out that Wesley and Ryan didn't get along in Blade 3:
Blade: "I don't like you."
Deadpool: "You never did."
Also gotta love that he got to say a certain line involving hills and ice skates again.
