I've been cooking my grits in the microwave for over 30 something years. It doesn't matter what brand I uses, I cooked mines in a bowl for 20 minutes. It comes out creamy without the milk. I add butter and cheese. Also, oatmeal.

Everytime I make it in the microwave, it always comes out grainy. I like my grits creamy but I don't like adding milk.
I think lady that did this video was just sharing an example but it's not realistic. Most people don't cook such a small amount of grits . Especially not with fish and grits or eggs bacon and grits....

I think I will try this. I like my grits thick, and it’s hard to time them just right with my breakfast without them sticking to the bottom of the pan. I think microwaving them should solve that problem. Thanks.

@@traciesplace Just finished breakfast, and they were perfect.
Super easy to fix with no trouble to keep up with and no concerns about sticking to the bottom of the pan. Many a morning I wanted to have grits but decided against it because of how aggravating it was to keep up with them so that they would be thick but not cross the line to where they would lose too much water and stick. This solves that problem, and I expect I will have grits much more often for breakfast now.

This still looks grainy ....I could be wrong but usually it takes longer than 5 minutes to cook grits and it doesn't matter if it's the stovetop or microwave.... unless you like grainy grits....the cheese helps grainy grits( I've made grainy grits so I know lol🤣) but I try to cook it like one person said 20 minutes or more so that it's smooth and not grainy.

I make cheese grits casserole in the microwave every weekend using Bob's Red Mill grits. Turns out just as good as the oven.
