You are so right. A lot of times insurances won't cover screenings that you request to be proactive. They will only cover the testing if a doctor codes the testing for an existing condition. We have a reactive and not proactive health care system and sadly most people aren't in financial positions where they can afford to pay for expensive tests out of pocket. I know I'm not able to do that.

I'm a complex chronic pain patient getting the run around from all my doctors in managed medicare for over 2 years with none of then willing to even begin to begin the differential for EDS, so I self-paid DNA sequencing to get some answers. Now I can't get them to pay attention to the results. 😢. I joined function health and am very happy with it. I plan on getting the cancer check for my peace of mind, because in addition to the numerous pathogenic cancer genes I have, I also am pathogenic for a Familial Cancer Syndrome. I am glad to be able to take my health into my own hands.

Which is the right diet for a type2 diabetes patient? You say that your diet can address all the chronic diseases, but there are also physicians online that recommend a low fat plant based diet for the disease. What do you think? Have you put many patients in remission with your diet?

They want to do colonoscopies, with patients using Miralax for the prep.
What do you think of the miralax use in these procedures.
After research, it says it kills some of the microbiome bugs, to the point it can not be regenerated.
What do you think about this topic,?

@@MzladyGrinn I would never use miralax. You can double check, but if I remember correctly the main ingredient was some kind of polymer. There's new information out about the hazards of microplastics in bottled water and polyester clothes. I don't want to drink a bottle full of microplastics. I would use magnesium citrate instead and go for a brand that contains no aspartame. Kroger's carries it where laxatives are sold near the pharmacy.

For my recent apt, I prepped with the “old school” method.
It is a 3 day process with ducolax and enemas.
The Dr wanted to refuse me, but
I told her I’d be back if I wasn’t clean enough.
She came back, saying I wasn’t clean enough.
I insisted on an explanation of the procedure
So I could understand what was happening.
She said they needed to go up, across, and down, to complete the test,
I became wide eyed, and proclaimed my old school process only must work for the lower colon.
      She agreed with that statement.
I followed up with, that’s where the microbiome lives,
And it could well destroy my microbiome,
Leaving my immune system very vulnerable/compromised.
And I was not about to do that, NO thank you.
She flipped on her heel, wide eyed, realizing I understood the issues at hand,
Scurried out, and didn’t come back.
That’s when I figured I was correct, it’s an option they use to weaken the immune system.
Came home and asked google if miralax is detrimental to the microbiome.
And yes, it kills off some good bugs, that can never be regenerated again.
I’m curious what Dr Hyman thinks on this topic.
I know this is a long post,
But you never see this topic come up either…😮

I know that for some labs you need to fast for 12 hours like for lipids, but is there anything else that could give a false outcome? If females are checking their hormones is there an optimal time during their cycle to have this done to be most accurate ? Does exercising before labs effect numbers in a negative way ?

I signed up for Function Health and got the tests. That is all it is. There is no real analysis or advice once you get the tests. Basically, they say, eat more fish, don't eat sugar and all the other stuff that you already know. And anything that is on the margins they say go see your doctor. You need to decide if these tests are worth the money, which I suppose they are a decent value. But I will not be renewing or doing it again. I just didn't feel I got anything out of it. I like Dr. Hyman but you would probably be better off actually seeing a functional health physician.
