  • This video is a discussion of the replacement of the original oil drain plug on the Kawasaki with an oil drain hose. The valve on the original oil drain plug stuck and its plastic construction tore and warped to where I could not open it. I replaced it with an "M20-2.5 Drainzit Oil Drain Hose for Kawasaki FH, FJ, FR, FS, FX Engines 1420-K". Looks like my seller has sold out, but if you search for that description, there are others

Just saved a lot of time...thanks so much! I had same problem and tried the screw into the end combined with a 10mm wrench around the edge and was able to get the plug to come out. I will try similar solution.

Can you repeat drain it for your kawasaki FR600v engine and where to buy it? I have exactly the same engine.

I am having similar problems with my Husq. TS348XD, with the FR 730V Kaw 24 HP. What I have done is ordered the drain tube from Kaw or Husq. that is used on the same motor but on the ZT's, only 20 dollars and guaranteed to fit!

I've ordered this too for my FH engine. I'm going to add a little ball valve on the end of mine with a cap, that way i will never get oil on anything but the drain bucket. Do you know if the end threads are 3/8?

Is there any chance the plastic drain fitting breaks off inside the mower case? Concerned with trying to remove it on a 20 year old mower.

The hose have a part number or maker? Did you go to local mower store to find? Or did you order it online?

Couldn't get it out? My problem is the damn thing melted out on its own, and the replacement will not go in because of the stupid hose bib sticking off at a 90 and not allowing for it to screw in. Looks like I am about to go for the hacksaw, and just tow this thing up to the Kubota dealership and drain the oil in their parking lot every 100 hours.

Great Video ! Is Kawasaki even aware of the problem everyone is running into in changing the oil on their engines ? I just got a Husqvarna mower with the FR 730 v in it . I used a piece of a garden hose and a paper towel to get the oil into a pan .

This will remove more oil than the drain valve will.

Handsy Director I ended up with a tiny leak. Not sure if the o-ring was a little small. Add some gasket sealant, the kind from a tube and for oil, to the threads to be safe

The easiest way to open the plastic oil drain plug is with an ALLEN KEY, not a screwdriver or wrench.

Kawasaki needs to fire the idiotic engineer who designed the OEM drain valve, and whoever else approved the plastic valve to be installed on their quality engines!

I just visited my Gravely dealer yesterday asking about this oil drain set-up that Kawasaki blessed us with. Dealer is delivering my ZT HD this week and assures me the drain hose with the capped end will be on it. I'm considering changing it out to a Braided Stainless hose after my first oil change. Reason I like the stainless hose is because it stays put when it's bent down to the pan, instead of fighting it's way back into position along the frame. I'll leave it in my Amazon cart for now though.
