Nice video! But how about describing the fittings and hose type? Along with where you purchased them? I live by large city and cannot find any of these fitting?
All items should be available from a good hydraulic shop. 3/8 push-lock hose, with 3/8 push-lock fittings. And the metric adapter depends on what engine you install it on.
Hey Rusty I am a new subscriber, I can’t seem to find the qtr 90, push lock and cap. Also what size and type of black hose was that used? Do you have a link for that? I looked online with what you identified each piece as and couldn’t find anything. Thanks for your help. Awesome channel.
Hi Rusty and thanks for putting together this video. I have a Kohler CH440 on my stump grinder. In my searches, I'm seeing some folks calling out a 12mm thread and others thinking that it was changed to a 3/8" NPT. You mentioned the 12mm. Can you verify the pitch of that? My plan is to be ready with both fittings when I make a mess with my first oil change so I upgrade to your tubing set up minus the angle fitting as I really don't want to unbolt the motor. Thanks. Oh yeah, I forgot to ask where you get the adapter fitting with the o-ring seal?
Hey Hey Iceman, that CH440 Indeed has 12mm x 1.5 pitch threads. I order them from my local hydraulic shop, I have found them on the good ol AMAZON. Male end is 12.5mm x 1.5, x 1/4FPT. You my find that you need to loosen the engine to install.
How's she goin'? It's been a while since was dropped by. Glad to see your video today and it was good one too. Nice mod to the oil drain. Thanks for sharing. Take care!!
Yes, the larger opening will drain the oil faster. What's the big rush? I use the red hose that he did not like. I come back in 10 minutes later, and all the oil is out of the engine. The advantage of the red hose is I don't have to make anything. I can buy it and install it in less than 10 minutes. I'm not criticizing this man's improvement, I just don't see that it's worth the additional effort.

Good idea! you said that these pieces could be acquired at a hydraulic hose shop. A link to sites and the name of the parts would be helpful. Google tells me that Grainger has the "push on hose fittings" that look like yours but the adapter from the engine to the push on fitting...is it stainless steel ? I put something like the red hose on a standup commercial mower and it broke off and dumped the oil. Fortunately, since I was standing on the mower running it at the time. I noticed it and shut the engine before it could get destroyed.
Hello I just subscribed to your Channel I was trying to figure out why my scissor lift table I picked up in some junk will only go up apparently I need a controller not sure how to wire any suggestions I did a video on it working but can't find any brand names on this thing
Thanks fella I sure appreciate that... I'm not sure about your lift, but mine is electric over hydraulic. Yep, like yours, it came from junkyard with out control. I wired 2 garbage disposal switches together. 1 for up one for down. 1 powers the lift, the 2nd controls the pressure release solenoid.... hope that helps

@@TheRustyRooster Thanks for the reply. I looked up the drain plug part number for this engine and then the specs (some online folks were kind enough to post what the OEM likes to keep as 'trade secret' Lol). I found a low profile 3/8 in NPT elbow and will make a pipe version. Looks like I'll be able to install the elbow without touching the engine mounts.
Hey Rusty what's the thread pitch on that 12 mm adapter? These Chinese Briggs are supposed to be 12 mm x 1.25 pitch from what I'm told. The only thing is the only adapters I find is 12 mm x 1.50 thread pitch. I tried some local hyd. shops and they don't have metric, at least that's what they told me.
@@TheRustyRooster I am too Rusty. I only have about 4 hrs. on this machine, and I plan on changing the oil quite a bit during break in, these Chinese Briggs motors don't have a real good rep.!
Nice tip RR. It seems like changing oil is the last process engine manufacturers think about. ✌🇺🇸 Roger

Super idea Rusty. I think I'll do the same to my pump, This winter. 👍👍💪💪
Yes sir . Engine, pump, gearbox
Brother, that right there was AWESOME!! Love it, that can help on any riding mower also !!
Yep. And makes it easier for us ol wrench turners
Very nice video.
wouldn't you need to put a little extra oil in the crankcase to make up for the volume in the added hose?
Yes, I'm positive you will have to add a touch more oil.

A much better set up than the $25 plastic 'kits' that Briggs or others sell.
Appreciate ya watching thanks a bunch
Had to watch again for a refresher
I know ol-buddy like watching a train wreck, hard to look away. LOL....
Can you put a valve between the hose to control the oil out?
You can add a valve if you like, and they make them just for this use. I don't use them. I have seen them accidentally hit and drain the oil.

The 12mm fitting on the red hose is very thin walled and seems to snap off easily . Thanks for watching and commenting

what is the application of that engine ?
Those engines were used to build pressure washers
Smart addition for those engines
Got to do it if you don't have an oil vacuum it's going to get messy

That engine is 12mm

Rusty, is this the same size hose drain for the GX690 Pressure Washer?

Hey Rick, on the 14hp briggs Vanguard 12mx1.5 pitch. On the V-Twin briggs it's 3/8 npt
