@@anonwithamnesia this is exactly what the problem is we start comparing and competing with others on social media while we should do that only with our past selves. The only war there is in reality is the war with yourself and not with someone else 🙂.
I’m a 46-year-old mom to a 5-year-old boy and when I watch your videos I wish he can grow up to be like you! I found your channel looking for videos on minimalism and now I’m a subscriber. You’re a wise boy that will be very successful in life!
Yup, especially since I switch off my phone at night way before my friends (10PM). Plenty off stuff I miss out on during the night, worth it for the sleep tho
Medically speaking, digital devices have a huge impact on our mental health and this is video that people need in the pandemic. During quarantine, our lives migrated to the digital, classes are online and if you're doing social distancing, your social life migrated to your phone. Therefore, the use rate for those medias grew and mental health issues that come with it increased as well. After the pandemic, we need to implement digital minimalism more than ever
Agree, i've never had any problems and can easily live without but one of the drawbacks to this so called "crisis" (i don't agree but that's another story that takes way too long to explain) is that we are forced to be digital. Heck, i wouldn't be here if i had the chance, i'd be out doing what nate tells us. I never was so attached to my phone, it's six years old and not used much, but i see lots of people that are, and they are very withdrawn, more deperrssed, less social, and more aggressive (woke idiocy is all over the online world, not so much the real one) for no good reason. We should be a lot less digital, and go back to the way it always was. Not saying we should abandon all modern communication, but we should limit it a lot more
I think Tolkien said something similar: as parents, people need to teach their children the love of a simple life. That way they can always be happy, and thier greatness can come by themselves, naturally. Real, simple life can help us. Great content!
My grandfather (grandmother’s brother ) told me this before he passed away: “ If loneliness could kill a man I would have been found dead a long time ago”. I wish I could go back in time and actually find him company because even my visits were not enough. He couldn’t have children and his marriage didn’t work out. Friends can only do so much because they visit and go back home, but there comes a time when you are much older where the sound of your own thoughts rings the loudest. When you can no longer do as much as you could so you simply sit and time passes by slowly. We have been in isolation longer than we realize it and that surely can’t be good.
I have left every social media except for UA-cam. It feels wrong to leave a platform that I use for entertainment and education, but it does take away from my productivity
I hate how I’ve been a victim of how social media should tell us how to live our lives by 23 with this mansion looking house and these foreign cars, but i’m slowly learning to disconnect from all of that and take everything step by step. Thank you Nate
To be fair, it's really really hard not to be on social media when literally everyone else your age is. I'm 16 and I deal with this struggle constantly.
my cousin recommended him to me. He has been investing with him for some months now, but he earns just 300% of whatever he invests in a week which i think its too low, I've seen other traders who offer to give you up to 700/800% of whatever you invest
Don't apologize for having an online presence on different platforms. You're sharing a lot of wisdom and knowledge with the world. And being true to yourself in the end. So all is good.
This is exactly what we need, friend was just complaining about this the other day saying he’s realizing he’s spending an excessive amount of time on insta and other bs
I am twice your age, have no idea how tiktok works and although I couldn't agree with you more on how MOST communication on the net is superficial and a waste of time, I do know from experience that one can build a connection on the digital world that is just as meaningful as in the real world
This is a fantastic video and what you're talking about is 100% on point! Limiting screen time is also very beneficial to those struggling with anxiety/depression as it lowers dopamine spikes to a more natural level bringing overall balance in our brain chemistry. That in turn helps find more joy in things not involving constant connection to a smartphone or computer like marveling the sunrise or talking a walk in nature and those activities really help us to relax and get some perspective on our lives. Keep it up :)
I love minimalism videos, as well as organization videos, but they often overlook the digital space which is ever more present in our lives. Thanks for addressing this Nate. Great video.
I'm so organized with all my files, programs, social media, etc. It's another method of decluttering your life, almost just as important as physically decluttering. Not a lot of people realize this! Especially if you use your computer, phone, etc. a lot.
Nate, you gave some great advice in this video. I am really impressed by the amount of wisdom you have absorbed in your 22 years, it must be all those books you've read combined with your real life experiences!
I think giving yourself a number is very helpful, definitely in the beginning. One video a day, 1 hour screen time... My mom was the same, I don't resonate with any Disney songs but I have all these memories building forts with my brother and I will always be grateful for this 🌞
I know exactly what you mean Nate, I deleted my socials 4 years ago, my mental health improved and I achieved so many goals, I attribute a lot of it to the internal clarity I got from focusing on myself rather than other people's opinions of myself. Of course I watch UA-cam, I don't really consider it a social media since I don't post anything, but I do try to limit it too. Too much of anything is bad. Keep up the good work, stay blessed!
I'm a living example of this. I gave up all social media 10 years ago except to have a YT account to selectively watch videos. I'm happier, I sleep like a log every night, I have much less anxiety and my creativity has increased. I don't have many friends but I've never been one to have or even want many. I also put that down to the fact that most people out there are social media creatures which means I just don't vibe with them energetically. Hopefully I'll make more connections with like-minded people in the future.
This is like an advice to leave comfort zone. To travel you got to get money, to get money you have to find ways/means/work and 90% chance it is connected with digital world. Go travel? Money is number one reason that 85% of people do not travel
This video made me tear up when you were saying that life is short.. that is so true, it is flying by. And I want to live every single day I have of it.
Omg, these short clips of New York just brought me to a peace. I used to live in NY for 4,5 years (back in Europe now) and it felt like I was walking those streets and parks again🙏🏻
i love the way you think i just set up screen time on my phone for tiktok because i constantly find myself endlessly scrolling and hours go by i already feel happier thank you for that
Thank you Nate. Digital minimalism really creates a big impact to your life. I'm in the process of learning this things, I delete most of my social media apps but I'm still addicted in watching movies and videos and still do procrastinate. Hope to learn, manage and discipline myself for me to become productive like you.
Deleting social media was the best decision of my life, never going back to it. I've been more at peace with myself since then. Also nice shots of my city bro. NYC 😍
People would think vid is again such a "detele your social media now" type, but you actually tell a really good story by explaining causes and consequences. Thank you Nate!
You are one of the few content I watch. I have decreased my SM usage and I have so much peace. Your videos give awareness and they are worth watching. Now, I think in my entire life I have comenta to less than 10 UA-cam videos, but I should not pass the opportunity to thank you for so much insights.
Very inspirational. Working from home this year - it's been challenging to stop from doom scrolling, so when I have a little free time during my work day I try to make myself do chores around the house, mindfulness breathing, or read a page from a book instead. I've relapsed a few times, but I feel that on the whole my life is improving. I realized that I was just opening my phone to stare at something and I didn't really care about what I saw. Your video makes me want to try even harder to free myself from social media and only check it once or twice a day at most.
I ruined my life because of an internet addiction so thanks for this video. It is absolutely essential to always pay attention to life... if you tune out, you pay the price.
I’m glad you made this video. I’m a little older than you (28) and I think my generation was one of the last ones where most of us didn’t spend our childhoods looking at screens. I worry about the long term affects of this; studies have already shown that spending lots of time on the internet actually changes the way your brain functions. I worry about kids who are growing up now who have an iPad shoved in their faces. Anyway, I deleted my social media a few months ago and it has been great- I 100% agree with you that real life experiences and relationships are rich and fulfilling in a way that digital ones will never be. I hope people realize the value of living a real life before it is too late for them.
Nate, thank you for this video! I so agree with those things you brought up in here. I'm 21 and I understand that for 22 you are so wise! I really admire you! You're my favorite blogger (and I've been watching your videos for even less than a half of year). You makes a great impact on my life, thank you SO MUCH for being out there!
So glad I clicked on this video. Social media has really been a huge part of why I lose sleep sometimes and I'm slowly starting to take it out of my day to day life. This video actually helped me see ways to do just that. Love the content, please keep making videos :)
Nate you have really inspired me to use my phone less. I have so many great memories when I was a child and none of them involved technology. I used to enjoy drawing a lot when I lived at home and now I find myself less creative. Of course I will continue to binge watch your videos! Haha. Thanks again, Stacey.
I only allow myself to use UA-cam for learning videos I just play them and listen to them while driving or cleaning or doing work. Cleared my phone of social media and it’s been changing my life :)

Nate, this is my favorite video you have done. It really resonated with me and I'm going to do m best to embrace digital minimalism and create more real-life experiences. Thank you.
I really connect with all that you have said in this video. And its been a year since I have been into digital minimalism or you may call it moderation, and happy to finally see people having similar thought process in the world of social media and temporary pleasures.
I left social media during covid twice last year in 2020, from March to August, and again from September to now. Much happier now because I dont find myself wasting so much time on it.
I was just talking about this topic with a couple friends. I’m so happy to have one more perspective added to our conversation. especially your opinion, Nate. thank you for the upload!
This video consolidated my view about you, how much humility and strong conviction you have to put yourself out there. One really need courage to do so. Having achieved such a strong foundation, you will go long way. My research is about anxiety, stress, loneliness, social-interactions and mindfulness. I resonated with everything you shared here. Keep doing all the good work. :)
You're the wisest 22 year old I know. I'm 21 and you're such an inspiration for me because I can relate to this a lot. Before the pandemic, it wasn't that big of a problem, but through the pandemic, I really felt the impact of loneliness, social anxiety, phone addiction, etc. Keep pushing bro!
When you talked about looking back at your life and what memories will come up...Damn, that really hit me. The best memories are the ones spent in real life, experiencing the world.
Indeed real life experiences bring joy and enrich us at a deep and lasting level while buying stuff and on-line activities only provide short and unfulfilling highs. Now in my late 50's the best memories I have and cherish were from life experiences with family, friends, travels, outdoor activities. You are a thoughtful young man Nate.
switching from being a consumer to a producer in social media and using the phone for 90 percent of the time as a tool seems to be a sweet spot to not abuse the phone. each thier own though and have to find the balance that works for yourself.
Nate- I really enjoy your videos, man. You are wise beyond your years. You inspired me to start creating content and getting serious about it. I just posted a video similar to this on my channel earlier today. You’re b-roll is inspiring! Keep living the good life!
I had tik tok for a month and I noticed my screen time shoot up and my productivity fall down. I think it’s fine to check it every once in a while, but they make it hard to limit your time on there as their whole purpose is to suck you in for as long as they possibly can. I think everyone should at least try a digital cleanse, it can really help! Great video as always, I am loving your b roll!!

Starting my minimalism journey today, starting digitally. Wish me luck💯🤝
22 and yet such an old soul. Love it man ‼️
I left social media during covid twice last year in 2020, from March to August, and again from September to now. Much happier now because I dont find myself wasting so much time on it.
The overall vibe of this video is just out of this world!
Love these types of videos Nate. It takes courage to speak up about such issues on these platforms.
Loved the Digital Minimalism book. Thank you Nate for spreading good mindsets.
This is one of your best videos. Straight spitting facts.
Love this video mate, I 100% agree with you, spending time in the real world is key.
YOUR CHANNEL IS A PURE GEM.
Wow finally a youtuber that doesnt use ALL CAPS in their VIDEO TITLES to get CLICKS, subscribed
I struggle with this myself. I’m only on YT, but I know when I start my business that social media marketing is integral to success
Same here!
Great thoughtful video and wise beyond your years. Some of us remember life before cell phones, emails, and robust internet connections.
When you talked about looking back at your life and what memories will come up...Damn, that really hit me. The best memories are the ones spent in real life, experiencing the world.
thank you for talking about this!! people think it’s normal to spend 5 hours on your phone daily
Mini Christmas Morning - so true!
Nate- I really enjoy your videos, man. You are wise beyond your years. You inspired me to start creating content and getting serious about it. I just posted a video similar to this on my channel earlier today. You’re b-roll is inspiring! Keep living the good life!
I don't know when did you hit the 1 Million, but congratulations for that! Love you, keep going on.
Love when you do videos on anything MINIMALISM !!! I hope you do more on minimalism for stuff, materialism and money, financial, etc...
Thanks Again
Mindless scrolling is extremely toxic, you really articulated what my opinion is about social media.
Nate is gorgeous. He could easily be a fashion model. Go do it for a few years, Nate !
