this song is amazing, just close your eyes and see rocks igniting fires, people living in caves, painting walls, wearing furs, spears searching for prey, thunderous cavalry charges, the clashing of swords, see walls rising and crumbling to dust, and great migrations, and fires and blood, and the great thinkers of old writing poems at candle light, flocks of people following prophets, and kings giving speeches in glamorous halls, see thieves at night, and hunger and disease, and great fields of gold, and dark winters, boats on stormy seas, then clear skies and new shores, see nets full of fish and whales smashing boats, see ballrooms and the pairs dancing, and canons firing, see phones ringing and rockets dashing in the sky, bombs falling, snipers aiming, newspapers being printed, people walking on foreing celestial bodies, satellites, protests, Internet, vaccines, dna editing, cloning... what better theme to civilization than this?

Fantastic! Thanks, Christopher Tin. I teach piano at a school where video game music is frowned upon. I may finally be able to convince the staff that it is important for kids to be engaging concert music they care about. Sogno di Volare restores my faith and reminds me of why I became a musician in the first place. To make music with real emotion, like this, with real people.
I played all Civs but Civ6, hard to say which one was the best one. I have loads memories while playing Civ 1. I was 8 years old and telling my schoolmates what I'm about to do with world after school. Civ 2 - big leap, but didn't feel the same love. Civ 3 - big leap, borders visible - that made gameplay more fun Civ 4 - if my wife knew how much time I spent with civ4, she prob would have divorced me by now Civ 5 - still there, but feel like it catered more to younger generation? Am I getting older? Civ 6 - still to play
I couldn't decide between this and Battlefield 1 and after the hype for Battlefield wore off, I think I'm going to get this instead. With Battlefield you can only play it for a few months until the season pass launches and you're heavily discriminated against for not purchasing it. This game is completely fair and square, even the pre-order offer seems very reasonable to me because it's not a permanent advantage and becomes available to everyone after 90 days. Plus, this is one amazing song! :D
Next time someone tell me games are bad for childrens I will show them this video and then they will see the wonderfull things games can bring to all. Its pure art and should be praised as the evolution of human capacity to bring new jewels to keep us in pursuit of evolution. Thanks for this and keep up the good work!
Such a beautiful performance. As much as I wish I could have experienced it live it is probably for the best that I didn't, as I probably would have cried through the whole performance.
It's funny how Civ have this "aura" of epicness, but in the core the game is very simplistic. Like Blizzard in some ways, Firaxis really knows how to make the overall presentation of the Civ franchise. It make looks bigger than it really is, and that's a good thing (also, I totally embraced the new UI, another presentation factor that they did it right).
***** I agree, the "Universalis" brand is more focused on a niche. But, the point of my comment, they don't know how to make a proper presentation. Even the Total War series as well. You see... Both Universalis and TW are "epic" games in their own right. We know that because we play the genre and etc.. But for newcomers it seems that Civ is this epic thing, the grandiosity of mankind and blablabla.. But in reality the game is very simple. TW have great war mechanics, but the marketing never shows that very well. Warhammer 40k have a lesser war mechanic imo, but the CGi make the game looks like a epic war movie and etc. We can consider this as false advertisement? Well... At least in Civ 6 they are marketising more the funny aspect, the levity of the series. Now if you watch a trailer of Beyond Earth, man... The game looks more epic than other sci-fis, like Mass Effect for example, lol Firaxis are masters of presentation.
It's not unnecessary clutter at all, the depth of the Paradox games are what makes them so great. Yes it'll take a longer time to learn and it can be a much more challenging game, but it's very rewarding.
The issue is that Civ is in many respects more accessible. Also it shows the love the producers have for their source material - not only the game, but human civilization and history itself.
GreatRedMenace The history factor, at first, is very "weird" and out of place. For example, we have the black queen of France, easily the most unique historical character in the game imo. She has strong spies, powerful middle-age game, etc.. Basically a dream for fans of medieval history like myself (unlike red beard). But.... She is italian. And she is not well know, not "mainstream". And that's a issue from the accessibility factor. We have a peauceful Rome, an agressive Egypt, out of place leaders like Hojo (not a defacto shogun), Gorgo (obvious political correctness), Victoria (weak leader), Harald III (another pathetic leader, virtually unknow), etc.. Their approach was puzzling at first, but the changes are understandable later... They tried to appeal for old players, giving us alternatives on mainstream Civs. To see Napoleon diminished to a great general is something outrageous imo, but they tried to rule out the obvious choices. That's cool, but a new fan will find wierd why Egypt is declaring war out of nowhere, Rome never tries to conquer anyone, etc.. It's out of "character", breaking expectations.
When you give your soul making a videogame we get master pieces like this. Thank you Firaxis and 2K for keeping alive this master piece of the videogame industry, for me this game is history and a representation of how to make good videogames for people who love playing games.
Ich würde weinend aufstehen und zügellos Beifall klatschen. Was Herr Tin da gemacht hat, berührt mich zu tiefst. Unglaublich, was Musik, bzw. Klänge mit Einem machen können.
I love this, it is right up there with Baba Yetu as one of the best game theme's ever. I can't tell you which I like most, they are both incredible. So glad they got Christopher Tin back for Civ 6. Less than 4 hours left in Norway. :)

I would like to thank each and everyone of the singers & performers for their performance here. I love this song in Civ6 (and elsewhere if applicable). Anyway, you people brought positive in my life, thank you for that.
I feel in love with Angel City Chorale after that one!!! Woman at the lead voice… tears, love, and gratitude… I could only wish my daughter become her one day

I was in tears the first time I saw the opening cinematic to Civ VI. Such a heroic and romantic way of depicting human history. I think it was a necessary bit of optimism to end 2016 with.
I have just brought civ 6 on PS4 today for which I have waited years. Upon starting the game I hear this wonderful music. Stop game and find out what this is exactly. I have known this piece only ten minutes. What an amazing piece of music this is. Newest ambition, go see Christopher Tin in concert. Blown away.
If I saw this live I would burst into tears. I have around 500 hours in Civ V and 100 in Civ 6. Civ has been a staple of my friend group and hearing this beautiful piece just moves me so much. Wow.
The gentleman at 0:40 in front 3rd from the right has a look of joy and hope in his eyes that have probably seen a lot of history unfold both good and bad.
"FROM THE FIRST STIRRINGS OF LIFE BENEATH WATER... TO THE GREAT BEASTS OF THE STONE AGE... TO MAN TAKING HIS FIRST UPRIGHT STEPS, YOU HAVE COME FAR. NOW BEGINS YOUR GREATEST QUEST: FROM THIS EARLY CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION ON TOWARDS THE STARS."
I was at Cadogan Hall for this. Hearing this and Baba Yetu live... incredible experience. If you get a chance to see Christopher Tin or the Angel City Chorale live I hugely recommend.
WOW. I would so love to sing something like this. So gorgeous and rich and beautifully done. The interplay between all the voices and the instruments is breathtaking.
Christopher Tin has given humanity a voice, a way to hope and unite us as humanity regardless of our race, creed or religion.Thank you as humanity needs this in very hard and diffult times .God Bless you.Tony Morton
I would be so damned proud to hear my work being performed like this on the big stage. Mr. Tin you can truly be proud of yourself, you and everyone involved. I can't imagine the feeling, standing on that stage, floating in the choir.
I literally cried when I heard the song the first time I launched the game, and now I just can't get enough of it. For me it's even better than Baba Yetu, I don't know why but it resonates with me to an extent that only a few things in my life ever did. So ... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !
i just installed the game and for 2 hours i only listened to the main menu theme, didn't even start a new world. this is amazing, a fresh take on classical music, i absolutely love it
I can see the violinists spending pre-production time making sure that their make up is perfect for the close ups, and then the guy on the tubular bells gets screen time. Epic!
Christopher Tin should be a great artist in CiV6
Dude I was thinking the same thing.

Jack Moore Yeah I think he means in general
That would be a pretty sweet easter egg :D
KomradeTuniska I have a feeling he probably is :)
Civ 6: Takes forever to load.
Me: Not even mad.
Especially on my old pc, it took up to 15 minutes, but the endless loop of this song was enough to compensate
Then suddenly the game starts and you even react a bit irritatet because of the music stopping...
Yesssss!! So true with games with such music
When you buy a new pc that makes the game faster to load but makes the song shorter
*I won but at what cost*
Mine not even start narrating leader introduction, only at era introduction narration the loading finish in standard map 😁

I thought baba yetu was the lords prayer more than anything? Kinda communicates the connectedness and spread of humanity to me.
Great answer man! Both pieces shivers my spine, because we´re just in the middle of the two
Baba Yetu is the Lord's Prayer, it doesn't have anything to do with the glory of the past.
Maybe means that, but I think he´s talking about the feeling that the music express, no the literal meaning. It`s different to anyone
Start the game with great ambitions and this song echoing in my chest

I couldn't decide between this and Battlefield 1 and after the hype for Battlefield wore off, I think I'm going to get this instead. With Battlefield you can only play it for a few months until the season pass launches and you're heavily discriminated against for not purchasing it. This game is completely fair and square, even the pre-order offer seems very reasonable to me because it's not a permanent advantage and becomes available to everyone after 90 days. Plus, this is one amazing song! :D
brought tears to my eyes. :')
BOOMbarash5000 Why?
Sagitarius82 because that's what great music does.
Same. Is there a name for that effect? It only happens to me when I'm really hit hard by certain sections of certain songs.
I assume it's chemical.
to those who can feel it*
+brightorangepants it's called an emotional response.
It brings tears to my eyes to know that Maestros still exist, even in this era where we are taught that nothing matters.
Game releases in 2 hours for me. Yeah Southeast Asian zone 1!
Me too FeelsGoodMan
Excited for your stream!
wtf i wanna play
P0lymeth 45 minutes from now
Fuck, I still need to wait about 11 hours :(
Next time someone tell me games are bad for childrens I will show them this video and then they will see the wonderfull things games can bring to all. Its pure art and should be praised as the evolution of human capacity to bring new jewels to keep us in pursuit of evolution. Thanks for this and keep up the good work!
Such a masterpiece. From 1:37 to 2:00 gives me goosebumps everytime
*****
I agree, the "Universalis" brand is more focused on a niche.
GreatRedMenace
The history factor, at first, is very "weird" and out of place.
Rafael Teles Thank you, I've been thinking exactly the same when it comes to the leaders.
When you give your soul making a videogame we get master pieces like this. Thank you Firaxis and 2K for keeping alive this master piece of the videogame industry, for me this game is history and a representation of how to make good videogames for people who love playing games.
So, is chris a great musician in the game? Because that would be neat.
He needs to be. And Billy Mays should be a Great Merchant.
OXY CLEAN! Look at this worn tunic. 1000 years old. Singed by Ghandi's nukes. But 10 seconds in one scoop of OXY CLEAN and it's as good as new!!
Don't forget shamwow guy
Made in Kongo, you know the Kongo's make good stuff.
Would be an awesome easter egg.
I just love watching composers conduct their own music, they always look like the happiest people in the world.
No matter how many times I watch this video, I am reduced to tears of joy. Such a strong and beautiful piece of music.
This song always helps motivate me to keep studying. It is the nature of humanity to push its self after all
Civilization VI's Theme! Glorious music for a glorious PC-exclusive - composed by Christopher Tin, who made the first piece of video game music to ever win a Grammy Award
#justmasterracethings
How beautiful humanity can be when working together instead of against one another.
Perfection.
I got chills down my body like 20 times during this song
FROM THE FIRST STIRRINGS OF LIFE BENEATH WATER... TO THE GREAT BEASTS OF THE STONE AGE... TO MAN TAKING HIS FIRST UPRIGHT STEPS, YOU HAVE COME FAR. NOW BEGINS YOUR GREATEST QUEST: FROM THIS EARLY CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION ON TOWARDS THE STARS.
This man is a musical genius, nothing more needs to be said. I am only sad that it took me this long to discover his music.
Thank you Christopher Tin, thank you Leonardo da Vinci, thank you all!
这真是一首气势磅礴的杰作!歌颂人类伟大的文明,歌颂不断追逐梦想对人类!
Bravo!Glory!壮哉!
Would pay to see Christopher Tin as great musician in Civ6 DLC!
I love that he’s singing along, just shows how passionate he is of this piece.
I can’t be the only one who pretended to be the conductor while watching this. Such a timeless theme befitting of a timeless strategy classic.
You are not.
I would like to thank each and everyone of the singers & performers for their performance here. I love this song in Civ6 (and elsewhere if applicable). Anyway, you people brought positive in my life, thank you for that.
It feels like an ode to Italian opera, mixed with a small wink to Da Vinci and a big encouragement for human creativity.
Sung in Italian: check
Based in a Da Vinci quote: check
A showcase of human creativity: check
I don't know why I'm crying. This music gives me such an intense feeling of pride and hope.
As a Civ fanatic I absolutely love this!!
I feel in love with Angel City Chorale after that one!!!
Woman at the lead voice… tears, love, and gratitude… I could only wish my daughter become her one day
“Desde el inicio de la vida bajo el agua, pasando por las grandes bestias de la Edad de Piedra hasta los primeros pasos erguidos del hombre, has llegado lejos. Ahora comienza tu mayor misión: desde esta temprana cuna de la civilización hasta las estrellas”
Maaan. Everytime i come back to this recording i am amazed how well you can hear every aspect of the orchestra and the choir ❤ Thank you very much you awesome sound engineer 🥲
Once you have taken flight,
You'll decide,
Gaze towards the sky, you'll know that
That is where your heart will feel at home.
Once you have taken flight,
You'll decide,
Gaze towards the sky, you'll know that
That is where your heart will feel at home.
The first great bird
Will take flight toward the sun,
Sweeping over the great Mount Ceceri,
Filling the universe with wonder and glory.
Once you have taken flight,
You'll decide,
Gaze towards the sky, you'll know that
That is where your heart will feel at home.
Man will be lifted by his own creation,
Just like birds, towards the sky...
Filling the universe with wonder and glory.
Once you have taken flight,
You'll decide,
Gaze towards the sky, you'll know that
That is where your heart will feel at home.
Glory! (x2)
I was in tears the first time I saw the opening cinematic to Civ VI. Such a heroic and romantic way of depicting human history. I think it was a necessary bit of optimism to end 2016 with.
This song gave me chills in a good way.
Blown away.
Italian: the most beautiful and musical language in the world.
I think swahili is more musical than italian. Baba yetu won a grammy...
@@jbaroff Grammys don't mean that much, there's many songs that don't have grammys and are still great
Started playing Civilization 6, I was amazed how well the Opening bgm made. It makes me feel the arising of new era. This is one huge, great symphony.
After listening to this, I feel like playing just one more turn ...
If I saw this live I would burst into tears. I have around 500 hours in Civ V and 100 in Civ 6. Civ has been a staple of my friend group and hearing this beautiful piece just moves me so much. Wow.
This song is what I'm choosing to watch the SpaceX launch with.
Great choice!
Awesome
your going to get a science victory when the SpaceX turly go the Mars😂
Science victory

I didn't know who Christopher Tin was until this week but he is an extraordinarily talented man.
I literally teared up a little. This song is everything!
Should be united mankinds credo and anthem!
I can hear James Earl Jones reading this !!!
I was at Cadogan Hall for this. Hearing this and Baba Yetu live... incredible experience. If you get a chance to see Christopher Tin or the Angel City Chorale live I hugely recommend.
Guys we should make a petition to force the Civ 6 team to make Christian Tin a great musician!
*Christopher
I envy every single member of the audience. What a masterpiece.
This song makes me proud og everything we have accomplished as a species!
WOW. I would so love to sing something like this. So gorgeous and rich and beautifully done. The interplay between all the voices and the instruments is breathtaking.
I have gotten those music chills like 3 times Bravo
Christopher Tin has given humanity a voice, a way to hope and unite us as humanity regardless of our race, creed or religion.Thank you as humanity needs this in very hard and diffult times .God Bless you.Tony Morton
What a masterpiece. if I'd been there I'd be bawling my eyes out.
I would be so damned proud to hear my work being performed like this on the big stage. Mr. Tin you can truly be proud of yourself, you and everyone involved. I can't imagine the feeling, standing on that stage, floating in the choir.
what a powerful finish. GLORIA!
BRAVO !!! Fillful of joy at 3:00 and past :)) little clouds in my eyes !!
I literally cried when I heard the song the first time I launched the game, and now I just can't get enough of it. For me it's even better than Baba Yetu, I don't know why but it resonates with me to an extent that only a few things in my life ever did. So ... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !
i just installed the game and for 2 hours i only listened to the main menu theme, didn't even start a new world. this is amazing, a fresh take on classical music, i absolutely love it
This composer is a bloody genius!
I love the page turn at 1:40, he's turning the page because he knows it needs turning, not because he has, or will ever need to refer to it
Tin you are too good for this world 😂
He should be a great musician in-game. Who knows? Maybe he is and I just haven't played far enough yet :D
That would be both awesome and fitting. He got my vote.
And his greatworks would be "Baba Yetu" and "Sogno di Volare" :)
I can see the violinists spending pre-production time making sure that their make up is perfect for the close ups, and then the guy on the tubular bells gets screen time. Epic!
