I don't collect, restore or do anything with diecast really, but I come back every week to see your adventures. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with the world.
Great work Marty, bringing these old cars and trucks back to life. As a kid, I owned quite a few of the ones you've restored. Memories of the good old days.........
What a great restore...I just bought a small lot of Lesney vehicles and this model is part of that lot. Perfect timing, I think, as I can proceed with the makeover without worrying about any unforeseen issues, thanks to your video. The humor is, as usual, quite entertaining. Thanks for doing these. I have found a new hobby as a result.
This one came out great - that 3D printer is mind-blowing !!! You put such expertise and skill into everything !! I love watching these !! Thanks Marty !!
I can't say enough how much I am enjoying this trip through my own childhood. I've shared these videos with my brother, who has become paralyzed from the waist down due to an accident, and he is now inspired to dig out our old vehicles - about 50 - and give them the Marty Treatment! We enjoy your sense of humour also. Much like our own. Thank you for your inspiration and willingness to share the HOW in what you do.
I have just come down from my loft after searching through my Matchbox cars I had as a kid and found two of these lorries and six plastic pipes. I have watched a few different view on this hobby and your attention to detail is second to none and I like the outtakes at the end
So pleased to hear that my channel has hit a spot with you. If you are rummaging around in the loft looking for cars then I guess I have woken the hidden child that resides in us all!
@@MartysMatchboxMakeovers and Charlie, I am sure my one was a Cherry Red/ Royal Mail Red shade rather than this pinkish hued finish. Lesney also did a Girder Truck on this model that was normally painted a shade of what appeared metalic green / copper shade.
Oh yeah, i was worried you were not putting out a video this week... Marty on the upright thing, do what works for you.. I think the glue and baking powder work just fine and has never let you down... Keep up the great work and keep them videos coming... Always look forward to Saturday morning in the USA and watching Marty's Matchbox Makeovers... What a way to start the day.. Thanks Marty
Ok so here’s this. There is more to these videos to watch for. Don’t just watch his videos for fixing matchbox cars. Take in everything. He is a truly funny guy. Look at the newspapers. Watch the bloopers he is a model genius. And he can’t make enough of these videos for me.

It was intended to provide the drivers with better working conditions than those of the previous cab designs. Ergomatic was derived from ergonomics, a study of the working environment.
....I come here expecting a nice relaxing video....that...excursion in the middle was a hoot !....I had this same toy as a kid,... one evening I rolled off an ottoman onto this truck and realized a sharp pain in my buttock...when I jumped up it was fast in my butt cheek, the truck was not damaged and my siblings got a good laugh...
As soon as I saw the truck I knew I had to watch this one. I had this toy when I was a kid. It was a hand-me-down from one of my older brothers. I never knew what kind of cargo it carried. Nice work all around, Marty.
Here I am, in front of my notebook on a lovely cloudy Sunday morning here in Brazil, and I click on another "Marty's Matchbox Makeovers" video, sure I'll watch a very well done restoration (as allways) and also done (as allways) in a very good humor. And I was not deveived! Thanks again for the videos, Marty!
Hmmmm, yeah if you buy the propaganda of the Allies. Do some research, you might be surprised to learn that you have been fed lies. There's a Jewish scholar who investigated the "holocaust" and his video may or may not be available on UA-cam anymore. But I will offer this, he had to go into hiding because of the threats on his life from Israeli Mossad. Some things aren't as they appear.
Great job. You've come a long way in your processing of the window plastic. This polishing technique is the best approach yet and far better than the clear spray you used to apply. Thumbs up.
Hi friend. I´m Luis from Ecuador, S America. I´m 57 years old. Finding this matchbox cars video brought me to my childhood! My brother and I had these Matchbox cars 40 years ago! We used to spend hours playing together. then my brother died and I kept those toys. We used to make houses and cities with Lego blocks, and had a lot of fun! I had a blue plastic Matchbox collectors case with I guess 80 cars in four plastic sky blue trays and maybe 30 cars outside that case. Models that went from the 60´ oldest versions with iron strong axels for the wheels and modern ones from the 70´, "superfast" series with finer axels for the wheels like pins, that went faster but didn´t last for long. When we went to another country, my mother gave the whole case and cars to my little cousins that of course didn´t kepp it in good conditions at all. It all was lost, but the case. And later, 20 years, my step mother gave the case to my youngest little brother for his toys, so at the end everything was lost. When we lived in France they had this Majorette stuff, that didn´t stand the quality of Matchbox - Linsey - Made in England at all. I had this exact same truck you are showing, it loocks just like mine was!!
Great stuff Marty, I'm a regular viewer and a fan - this truck is a top job! I love the small laughs in every video. This is just awesome! I cannot wait for another! Also, thanks to you I learned the superglue / baking soda technique which helped me in my hobby and trade. Keep on doing this great show! All the best from Czech Republic.
Watching these videos brings back memories of playing with these different models when I was a child even though I had totally forgot about them thanks Marty
When you said how much pressure the compressor developed I thought yes the model will be blown to bits so when it went flying I laughed louder than the bit you did after, looking for it. The phrase "You're only meant to blow the bloody doors off!" came to mind.
It is fun to see these cars again , i had many of them as a kid, really many of them, and surprised to hear the value it has now, i also know that many creme/ white ones are actually much brighter but you make them more yellow..
Another awesome job Marty! Love your sense of humor, you seem the they type of guy that you'd love to have as a neighbor. We eagerly await the next episode.
I was shocked to see you on your knees, fearing a sighting of the plumbers / pipe-fitters simile. Said simile would have bee apropos for this video, however. Such smiles are usually remedied the by wearing braces! Thank you again.
There is something relaxing about watching your videos, it takes me into a nice zen mode. Your calming voice and the background music blend well with an interesting topic. Please keep them coming!
Keep it coming! Even got my 81 year old Mother watching and asking about the next remake. This one had us both laughing as hard as you were👍😂
Thanks for watching Allan and your Mother. So glad to hear that you are both enjoying my videos!!!!

Hands down the most entertaining Matchbox restorer on UA-cam.

Great looking restoration! I like the 3D printed pipes as they have a little rough texture to them like real concrete pipes. Thanks for sharing this.

Marty, don’t worry about the paint mishap. You had a lot on your mind!
Shoutout to Marty, great way to start the weekend. The soldering effort may have worked better if the two parts were copper plated.
Maybe with a hotter soldering iron, the heat is dissipating to the truck
I got two these trucks for Christmas in 1966! This brought back great memories! 😊

You have to copper plate to solder zamac
Saw that over on baremetalhw!
@@Gearhead-en8dz Yeah he been looking for a way to do it. Many people told him about the copper plating and he finely figured it out.
@@Jsellers1965 I wonder how strong of a sweat it is. I'm sure that's where the idea came from, sweating copper plumbing!
John Sellers... Exactly! Copper plate the Zamac, use plenty of flux with a soldering iron that can supply sufficient heat and you are good to go.
I don't know for sure but, I think you would need plumber's solder and acid based flux. Electronic solder is rosin core flux.
