Hello, I am a regular subscriber and I can confirm that I am not bored of the paint stripping process... quite the opposite 😅😂 please never cut them out. Thank you.
Marty has done this a few times but watching the entire process including stripping help the rest of us who dont do so much. Great way to have an AHA thats how its done moment especially the little tips.
The addition of the camera in the top of the paint booth was very clever. And, please don't stop using the tabloid paper in the shots. I find those very entertaining as well!! Thanks' Marty!!
Hi Marty. Do not stop showing all the steps in the process,. I cant be the only one that feel being cheated while some of the others restorers do that. My best to Kevin and the Family.
Who also starts to wonder what will be in the tabloids when they start to watch a new Marty’s Matchbox Makeover video? That’s one heck of a grasshopper.
At time 9:18 pay attention to his hand if you want to have a good laugh !😂 "Marty thats very clever film editing! I realize this is a very old video but here in 2023 of November it is still timelessly funny !😂
When I started with the Fire Dept. way back in 1979 at 22, we had a reserve Unimog "fire engine" that was outfitted with a 250 gallon booster tank and just enough old hose to get into trouble with. As the new boot of course it was assigned to me. When we trained I remember the top end was around 45 mph., if you had a stiff wind behind you. But off road it was an animal. :)
Back in the1980's the U.S.Army bought a lot of these Unimog trucks, had them equipped with a loader bucket in front and a back home in back, along with hydraulic tools, and called it the small emplacement excavator, or SEE truck. It was great off road, but was very bad driving it on the paved roads as it would tend to rock back and forth and the front loader would hit the pavement. Finally needed to trailer them wherever we needed them.
The cork in the hand and in your glove trulely entertaining. Love the hole in the top of your booth genius, never stop with the tabloids I always look forward to those as well.keep up the brilliant work on your models.
Hi Marty, what sets your videos apart from all the other "model restorations" is your highly entertaining sense of humour. I was already covering my eyes as I watched you drilling the windscreen: "That's not going to end well." - Superb, Marty. :-) And, as the gag runs on, I just figured you filmed this around Easter? LOL "Farmer shoots 24 lb. grasshopper". Now my gut aches from laughing so hard. Very nicely done model. And lotsa detail with the new paint! Very enjoyable as always. :-) Best regards from Germany, Volker
I just KNEW you would stick in a bit of comedy when I saw you holding the model in your hand while drilling it. These bits would be great for a workplace safety video. Keep up the good work and please be safe!
Love watching Marty! I remember buying this model as a kid in Miami, Florida and paid 50 cents new in the box! My best friend and I would ride our bikes down to the hobby shop every Saturday morning and buy a new model for our collection. We still have many of them. Thanks for the added humor as well!
Please keep going through the whole process. I learn by watching . The more I see it the better I can remember it. You are an awesome cooking show that uses matchbox as the flour.
I watch your videos all the time and I love watching all the paint fall off, very satisfying! I also love reading the crazy headlines on the newspapers
Saturday lunchtime, just finished a First Aid course and now home for my favourite part of the week, Saturday coffee and a 3M video 😊 I really never tire of your restorations 😊
Marty...it is impossible to watch your videos once. First watching for the technical aspect, second for the hidden gems, and lastly just for the fun... Thanks...
In my honest opinion, Marty truly is the BOB ROSS of die cast restoration. Not only is his work quality, he makes you feel so relaxed whilst watching. Looking forward to seeing you do the Pontiac from your unboxing Part V video!
I hope someday people check the bottom of their matchbox cars for the screws, looking for an original Marty restoration. That would be pretty cool. Thank you for all the entertainment.
After spending Saturday morning in Hospital (purely precautionary), It's good to have something to laugh at on Saturday night. Keep up the good work mate.
The Unimog was probably my favorite.....or the Matchbox car I was most intrigued by. I think I had at least a couple of them back in the 1960s. Mine were the brown over aqua ones.
Great work Marty. I love Unimog U406, its my favorite type from Unimog series. But.... The front hole is not for starting the engine, but the hole is drive from engine for tools like snow blower 😉
I actually really like seeing the paint stripping process and when you pick at the model with dental tools. Even though it doesn't take a lot of skill, it's still an important step and adds a little variety. Some other youtubers skip over it and it sets your channel apart. I find watching all the paint wipe off super satisfying. Also, that hole in your hand deserves a like!
The box on the left side is where the battery lives. The hole in the front is for the “Zapfwelle” or Power Take Off where you can run attachments/equipment. There’s one in the back as well. We have a real-life 1967 Unimog 421 at home. Thanks for restoring this one!! :) (the grill is not silver in reality tho)
The additional humour is great: drill through the hand, cork in the hand (drill) hole and the appearance of the koala "assistant". Great. Keep them coming.
I find your videos relaxing, but never ever boring. I really enjoy watching you bring these gems back to life. As a kid I grew up appreciating the ability to restore an object more that the ability to buy a new one and still feel the same. Keep up the good work Marty!
My first-ever toy car, bought by my Dad, and I still have it 50+ years later. Love your excellent work, but I'm leaving mine exactly as it is, it's too precious to me.
Marty, your videos are absolutely top drawer. If its not broke, dont fix it, keep them exactly as they are, very informative, very funny and a perfect vehicle to showcase your talent. Bravo. Chris the scouser in devon.
Pleasant surprise with the second model. You could do one restoration model and one custom model per video. That would let people see an extra creative side of your work.
Loved this model! Actually love the Mog period. To provide an answer to your comment as to how Lesney attached the base plate. The moulded pillar extended above the base plate and was swaged down on to the body. Both fixed and rotating tools were used to swage the metal pillar so your technique is indeed very close to the original manufacturing process. Love your channel. Tremendous improvement as you continue through the year.
It’s funny you mentioned showing the process in every video. I had JUST made a comment to my wife, “I love that he always shows the process. It’s very cool for folks who may have never seen one” then you said it. Boom!
I say keep doing what you’re doing. It’s part of why we come to watch: whether new or long-time. And, definitely keep the humor. The running drill-through-hand bit in this video was superbly executed!!
Hi Marty. Thank you so much for this perfect makeover. The Unimog was one of my favorite Matchbox models. It's really fascinating how detailed this 50 year old model is. Keep up your good work.
Hey Marty, second time watching this. Just finished my unimog, only difference I did black base and green top. Had to make my own windscreen and I was only missing one tire. I used the spare for the forth tire and sourced out a spare from a Ertle ford pickup. I'm very proud. You do great work.
Love the cork in both sides of the hand. I don't know how you have the patience for all the tiny things you do with these cars but the result is marvelous. Great video. I played with Matchbox cars as a kid and absolutely loved it. I don't know if many girls loved the cars but I adored them along with my Barbies. I was a kid in the 60's.

Marty!!!! I did a double-take when the drill went 'through' your hand. And I bet it was Kevin who was plucking his eyebrows out with your pink tweezers.

100% agree. The fun of these videos is seeing the entire restoration process and the payoff of the finished project at the end. Don't cut anything!
The addition of the camera in the top of the paint booth was very clever. And, please don't stop using the tabloid paper in the shots. I find those very entertaining as well!! Thanks' Marty!!
That koala bear Kevin is naughty ! (>_< ) !!!
You're right.
Yep, keep taking the tabolids
I frigging love those tabloids. The Weekly World News was my favorite. Not focused on celebrities, and was got Bat Boy out of it XD

Thank you so much for the shot at the start showing the drill bit and Tap sizes.

Good to hear, I have had doubts about my vids my self and try so hard to make each one different!

some people downvote because they don't want similar videos showing up in their recommended videos
They can always choose not to be shown his vids. But it's ok even a thumbs down counts as an interaction same as a thumbs up so cheers to them.
