Most quality ceramic coatings are multi-year protectants that often contain silicon dioxide as the main ingredient, also known as silica (SiO2). A good quality ceramic coating, like the AvalonKing Armor Shield IX used in this test, will have a high concentration of the purest SiO2, 84% in this case, some of the highest concentration found in consumer grade ceramic coatings. Ordered 2 bottles and waiting. Kinda cool that they email you while product is being shipped, on "how to" install coating. Nobody does that. I'm glad I waited a bit to try ceramic coatings, because they are easier then they use to be, and less expensive. For my wife's new 2021 Rav4 we did a mixture of ceramic coat and Paint Film Protection. The paint film was on full front end: front bumper, hood, window cups. Front end will look great and help prevent rocks, scratches, and other stuff from the road and weather.
Then we did a ceramic protection for rest of the vehicle. The company we worked with used OptiCoat Pro+
We have been doing maintenance washes there at the moment. My garage has the mustang gt in it. Also, still winter here.

@@pjfan173 I did and it was genuinely easy but a bit scary cos it lasts for two years, but it turned out perfect and weirdly everyone notices how super shiny it is, even though I always kept it clean before the coating! The only hard part is ALL THE PREP! Hahaha, but seriously, from start to finish about 8 hours, and did door jambs, windows and wheels separately, so probably 12 hours all up. I followed all Pan's tips and it's a really rewarding project!
@@claudiadavies5110 I had my wife’s 2013 Lexus RX350 coating by a detail shop and when same thing, it was crazy how much the look changed. I’ve always taken good care of it, but it look new and the color was way deeper

Pan, another great video! Glad I purchased 2 kits Vs 1 using you promo code. Still waiting for the weather elements here in San Antonio, Texas to stabilize before starting application. In addition will do a full decontamination as it hasn’t been done in !8 months. Still waiting on a few products to arrive. Received a few things from Matt at Obsessed Garage. Also received some Rupes products from The Rag Company (ie Polish & Pads). Also, the Quadrant Towels for removal of AvalonKing prior to using the towel in their kit for leveling. My favourite way to use Avalon king ceramic coatings is on the door jambs. I frequently use dirt roads and the ceramic coatings help all that dirt and dust to be easily blasted away. Makes my washes so much easier. Love the videos 🤙🏼

Yes it was very easy to apply and also easy to level. I would say very user friendly just follow the steps and this was also my first time with a ceramic coating. I usually use TLC 2.0 which will now be my topper. Next will be CSL & EXO4. I also have another kit of armorshield IX bc i ordered 2 but found that is was so easy to apply that there wasnt a need for a second coat and unboxing the armorshield was very exciting and satisfying
And I watch your channel and obessed garage channel bc i love your product reviews and great tips and tricks and i relate to matt moremen bc i am also crazy about the best products for my car even if they can be a tad bit high priced lol but i like my car to be too notch and always dialed in also is there a way to send you pictures of my car coated since you are how i heard about the product ?

@@barryinny Barry i got it off Amazon. Its called Black Diamond Ceramic coating comes with 2 X 30 ml bottles and an applicator. Only downside is applicator is only good one use, so think about finding more of them which i havn't done yet. lol

I have used this on surfaces in my bathroom to include the sink and shower stall. I find that it makes weekly cleaning much easier. Especially hard water stains.

For headlights I put paint protective film i.e. clear vinyl wrap which protects against UV etc. Also GR8 protection against rock chips.

Yes i have the rapid ceramic glass coat windshield kit can it be used on the head light as well.
Did a full decontamination Saturday and finished polishing on Sunday. Applied 2 applications of AvalonKing today to my 2015 BMW 435I Coup M Sport . In addition, after watching this video applied to my windows, headlamps and tail lights. Will apply to wheels tomorrow. Glad a bought two boxes of AvalonKing using PAN25.

I would never purchase a black car personally (my OCD would never allow me to sleep at night ahaha) but certainly when black paint is well prepped and ceramic coated, it looks like a mirror!
@@PanTheOrganizer With the exception of 3 months in 2015 it has been garage parked since December 2015. I’d starve before taking it out on a rainy day. Known for cancelling doctor appointments. While doing the Decontamination on the street in front of my home was asked what I was doing and why. Then after drying with leaf blower and damp towels was asked, “How can Ceramic Coating improve that shine?”. Pan, I probably could have skipped the polish, but opted to do the complete process.
I polished using the Rupes “New” Uno Pure with their White D-A Ultra Fine Finishing Pad.

Would you please make a Pro/Con video discussing a spray coating (such as turtle wax graphene), a true ceramic coating (Avalon King) and a graphene Coating (Adams Graphene Ceramic Coating)? Last year I was very happy with the results from Turtle Wax’s hybrid ceramic solutions, but as a dedicated enthusiast I’m always looking to improve my skills and try to new products. For some reason though, I am not confident about stepping up to a true ceramic or graphene coating. I believe I’m mostly worried about a few years down the road where I want to re-apply a true ceramic coating, and the steps to do so. Can share some advice?

I've also got a question to you.. Did you ever declined a car for detailing and did you ever encountered a car which was really dirty (inside and out) that it took some time to clean?

If you are planning to do one layer on just the paint, one bottle will do. If you want to apply two coats, and also cover wheels, glass, plastics, headlights and tail lights, get two bottles.

Thanks Sean! Yes you will still use your wheel cleaner as per usual. It's just that wheel maintenance will be a lot easier with coated wheels.

Is this product good to use on matte black aftermarket wheels as well? I work at a tire shop and my new wheels just came in and I’m wanting to coat them before mounting the tires, and since the first video you made on this product you’ve been very happy with it, and that has really made me want to get it, I just don’t know how it’ll work for my new wheels that aren’t OEM gloss wheels
Yes, AvalonKing states that their coating can be used on matte wheels too!

I’m definitely going to be buying this, personally I don’t ceramic coat my paint work because I enjoy waxing, I want to do my diamond cut alloys, windows, headlights, taillights, and plastic trim, brilliant 👍. Something I’ve wondered does a ceramic coating help in anyway preventing swirl marks to the paint work?
Not really. Coatings aren’t designed to prevent swirls and scratches. PPF does that. But coatings can help reduce the light marring or love marks from washing and drying stages a bit.

You sure could. Wait a week or two after application before washing the car and then apply Exo.

Hey Pan, thank you for all of these tutorials-I’ve learned a ton from them. Quick question: what do you use on your exterior plastics after you’ve applied a ceramic coating. Would something like Perl work or do you use a specific maintenance topper?
If you use a coating on your exterior plastics, like the AvalonKing Armor Shield IX for example, or other plastics coatings like Gtechniq C4 or CarPro DLUX, there is little to no maintenance on those. When you use your silica spray sealant for your coating's maintenance every other month, just go over the plastics too and you'll have boosted the protection.

Great video and review ! Seem to be a real awesome product ! I know its a somewhat new product (from a somewhat new compagny), so we can't speak for the 5 years durability, but, how does it stand after few years ? I really love the CQUARTZ UK topped with some gliss to protect even more, but take a lot of time since 3 layer of UK plus 2 layer of gliss is real time consuming. Does this one is prone to water spotting and need to be protected with a silica spray scellant for the first few days ?
It's my viewers who actually introduced me to this product, and I am happy that they did! From the real world feedback I get from those who have used this for many years so far, it seems they get an easy 2 to 3 years of durability so far. And they're still going. This was released about 3 years ago now, so we'll see if it can go 4 or 5 years. :). Of course long term durability has many factors and variables including location and conditions, but so far so good, I can easily see 2-3 years of real world durability if someone applies 2 coats and maintains their car properly.
And yes I still recommend that people apply a silica spray sealant topper to prevent water spotting issues and to maintain the coating to peak performance. This coating has great sheeting so it's less prone to water spotting compared to traditional ceramic coatings, but still, why take the chance. Just use a topper. :)

No. This is an exterior coating. Paint coatings aren’t meant for interior use.
Great video again. What happens after a few wipes of the wiper or scrapeing of frost and/or ice? Will the life span diminish?
Yes all coatings on the windshield don't last as long as the paint, due to the wipers slowly abrading the surface. Mechanical abrasion is what usually wears down any ceramic coating.

Based on your recommendation on another video, I'm applying 2 coats of CQuartz uk 3.0, topping it with 1 coat of CQuartz SIC on my car's paint, rims, and vinyl decal. Would you recommend doing the same to the glass, plastic and lights or are you only recommending the armor shield for that type of application. Thanks for an informative channel.
You could do that on paint, or 2 layers of Cquartz, and 1 top coat of Gliss 2.0 (easier to apply and remove compared to SiC). Those are paint coatings. Not meant for glass or plastics. For plastics, CarPro has DLUX and for glass CarPro has FlyBy Forte.

Thanks for the great video Pan. Does it matter if you get some of the ceramic coating on the rubber seals around the window glass? Will it cause the rubber seals to harden?
If you accidentally get some on the rubber trim, just buff it off with a microfiber towel, no worries. But don't let it dry on there.

Thanks Alex! You can apply this outside, as long as it doesn't rain for 48 hours after the application, work in a shaded are (never under direct sunlight) and on a cool surface.
Can this be applied to chrome and chrome look plastics as well?
I may actually do another coat on my glass. Figure it gets more abrasion from the wipers, which no matter how repellant it is, must still be used at low speeds.
Yea even in heavy rain i need to use wipers cus the water beads going up are to many and cant see but normal rain i dont need wipers going 40mph

I purchased this product from your link last December and been dying to apply it to my 2009 Camry hybrid and 2016 Rav4 hybrid.
I live in Prince Edward Island and experience the same weather and road coditions as Quebec.
I have been acumulating products for doing my prep work like Iron remover, Clay bar, Isotope alcohol, I am waithing to purchase a DA polisher to do the work and also nicer weather to apply to the whole car
I did apply it to my headlighs after polishing the slight yellowing that I had performed every 6 months. It seems to have a longer lasting result, hopefully because of UV protection.
I also have a question to see if it is safe to apply to camera lens (backup and parking) I think it would keep the lens clearer because of hydrophobic properties.

This - one for all surfaces - product, seems to be great and I would like to get the package.
But I'm concerned about reinstallation process, after two years.
I've got a brand new Mazda CX30 which has many plastic exterior surfaces. When it's time to reapply the product, how can I safely remove the old layer from plastics? And how do I know that using a d/a polisher to remove ceramic coating from paint, I will not eat into the clear coat as well?
You wouldn't need to polish the plastics. You would simply reapply. You would only need to fully wash, decontaminate and machine polish the paintwork. If you had applied two layers, you'll most likely see the protection last beyond 3 years.
It takes a lot of polishing to remove the entire clear coat on modern cars. Years worth of polishing. Polishing once every two or three years has absolutely no major effect on the clear coat. You could polish your new car once a year for many many years before starting to worry. And a new car should only need a light polish (unless there are deep scratches, but you should have seen that upon taking delivery at the dealership) so you're not removing much clear coat. And if you're using safe washing and drying techniques, you shouldn't have to polish for years. I only polished my car once before the coating application and have never had any swirls or scratches.
And if you really want to know how much clear coat is left, you can purchase a paint depth gauge.

I read your response about the wax dealerships put on new cars. I’m not a detailer so o don’t own a machine to take that wax off. Is there another way to do that? Thank you so much man!
A new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
- at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
- vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
- vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
- at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
- at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.

I’m quite comfortable with my vehicles/pain correction applying ceramics etc. My question is with my boat which has plastic windows along the side (think jeep type rear plastic windows). They are brand new never been on the water. I’m comfortable that this wouldn’t cause any damage but this also would this work at preventing water spots?
