@@Carla-tz7qw LOL that's the first time I've ever seen anyone criticize steel guitar hall of famer Tom Brumley's pedal steel playing. He won the ACM award for top steel guitarist the year this video was made, and his solo on "Together Again" is widely considered on of the top 5 pedal steel solos of all time. No one is 100% on their game all the time, and the best thing you can do when you screw up on stage is smile and pretend you didn't. 🙂
Tom Brumley could be the finest steel player to ever sit behind one. A perfectionist who loved real country music. Don Ulrich, just wow! Wynn Stewart was a highly under appreciated and forgotten talent of world class stature.
Both Don and Wynn died way too young...what talented human beings they were, and what joy they brought to all of us. Glad these videos have been posted...sure can't find any of this on today's radio.
Tom Brumley is the one steel player that fitted in perfectly with Buck's music .....and this is very close to Buck's style of song. A great hit and a classic Wynn Stewart country song .
he was good enough to stay in Bucks band through all those hits. and my cousin knew him and the 2 were top level pedal steel guys. so I listen to Buck's hits and my pedal steel pro cousin's view... not yours
@@carlarodgers5011 What? Cocky? Compared to what? The guy is a legend. Not sure what sour grapes you're harvesting, but no one--ever--has anything but positive things to say about Tom Brumley. Ask any steel guitar player, and they'll tell you. Even Buck said, "My sound is your sound." Enough said.
@@carlarodgers5011, you must be posting as different people because there's a number of videos where someone is saying Tom Brumley is too cocky! The guy is considered one of the best steel guitar players ever. What, did the guy owe you money, or were you a crappy steel player yourself who got replaced by a better musician in every band you played in?
Any day is pretty when you can listen to these great musicians!!! Be still my heart. This was 1966 when they still wore the great suits and Tom still played steel guitar.
My cousin was pals with Tom Brumley (both top level pedal steel guys) and told me "Brumley" was a natural and one of the very few best pedal steel guys in the business. You can hear why in this song.
This song was actually written by a man from Chincoteague , Va. He sold the song because he needed the money. This song has been no. 1 several times and the two of you sing it beautifully. Linda Wessells from Chincoteague, Va.
I'm curious where you got that information. My grandpa wrote this song and lived in Canton, OH his entire life. He always talked about his song that made lots of money for other people. But maybe you have a different story about it or have heard a different version of events?
Thanks everybody I am glad that you all like it, I feel the same way you feel everytime that I watch these old video songs, I have some more of Buck and the gang, and I will put more on in the future.
............Tom was like......Don can you shut that guitar up for a second I'm taking a solo.........Don was always having fun on the bandstand........my favorite country guitarist.......
The pedal steel guitar is phenomenal. Each generation the skill level has waned. I am learning the basics of the instrument and these old players motivate me. It's sad that newer generations have lost all interest in the instrument in favor of flashy hooks. I'm from Indiana where many good players of the time had their roots. No museums nothing. And forget about Nashville, that's what killed it
I guess you could call me old-fashioned but it's a shame we don't have great music like that to enjoy these days !! I have the original recording on an old 45 record !! 2 great talents taken from us way too soon !!💔🎸🎵
He's the greatest, I love the way Wynn Stewart sings and his awesome friend Don Rich, this song just makes me happy, my Momma used to sing to us 4 kids back in the day, so thank you for this wonderful song 🎵 ❤️

Someone please explain to me how this is a ' sad song ' . Yes, real country music is full of sad songs. Life can be sad. Life can also be full of joy, like in this song.
My dad would often sing this song on Saturday mornings after a long hard week of work. I miss my dad RIP Dad
I think this is better than the studio recording. Don Rich was an amazing harmony singer!!!
deerejohn1953 yes he was!
yes he was loved his singing GOD BLESS HIM AMEN
Don Rich loved Wynn but that steel player sucked on this song. Too cocky and smiled when he was screwing up the song.

The sound quality. Wynn Stewart was bad ass .And with Don and the steel man this was a powerful performance.
Yes.
Tom Brumley on steel 👌
A great bunch of musicians
These great musicians covered the jukebox back in the 60s & 70s.
Wynn should be in the CMHOF.
The Buckaroos. Don Rich lead guitar, Doyle Holly bass, Willy Cantu drums, Tom Brumley pedal steel.
Don and Tom's instruments are talking to each other
Don't forget about that Steel Guitar player... That guy's a genious....

The great Tom Brumley!
love it when he looks up at 1:03 like "yeah, i did that"
Say what you will, but to me, the old Amps and guitars sounded much better than what's being produced today!
You mean Tom Brumley? Of course, he's a ' genius ' . Buck Owens hired him. And Buck only hired the best.
Wish they still wrote country music like this.
Country music! Please come back, I miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This mess isn't worth listen too. We need more of this!
Nothing better than Bakersfield country & beautiful cabover truck
