Great comparison. Both cameras do something well that compliment each other for each of their permissible shortcomings. There is something unique about the GH5 in how it handles 4K that I like. But for under 500, the HC-V800 is a great way to get into 4K footage without hurting the wallet so much. Cheers!
Not sure what conclusions to draw from a £1,700 4k hybrid going up against a £400 HD camcorder apart from the camcorder punches well above it's weight.
Ah yes, it was more for the stabilization (OIS) on the cameras that is actually really good on both models - the HCV800 is rather brilliant at keeping the image movements down to a minimum considering its cost, as shown when put against the far more expensive GH5. Our new (an more expensive) Sony full frame is a massive drop in stabilization in comparison to the pair of these - so the 5+ year old tech seems to be holding its ground!
@@MineExploration interesting, I’d dearly love a GH5 but just starting out I’m going to try and create basic content with the HCV. Just a shame I didn’t go the extra mile back in 2012 and go for the 900 with external mic docket. :(
It's really a well done review, bravo!
Thank you kindly!
Great review..
wb zoom?
Thanks for the info

Thanks for watching!
Except that the V800 doesn't do 4K 😏😉 (the VX1 is the 4K equivalent of the V800 iirc)
Great video thanks
Helpful video sir
