    I picked up my M3 LFP in Sept 22. I bought my car to use as a tool first second for pleasure. I live in rural FL using this car to drive to work and to do food delivery at night. I have been fortunate in my life to have many brand new cars during my time on this planet. The M3 is by far the best car I have ever owned but it is not perfect. I am not a fan boy but a man that selected the best tool for my needs. First my car has no problems yet with almost 5k miles. This car just feels good at all speeds to drive at. There isn't a speed I feel unsafe at in this car. I think a lot of people can relate to having a uncomfortable feeling in your car at 70 mph or above, not in the Tesla for me at least. I think the most over looked feature of the M3 and maybe all Tesla's is their heated seats. These seats are without a doubt the best ever made for heat. In my experience most heated seats feel like you are sitting on a hot plate that will burn your ass. The Tesla design is so much better, they give you a deep heat that your whole body absorbs the heat. It's like nothing me and my wife have experienced in any other car brand. If you or your partner have chronic back pain you need to at least look at the brand and model that fits you and try out the heated seats even in the summertime you will be amazed.
    Ok now for the draw backs, please remember again I use the car as a tool. One, the wiper motor does not wipe fast enough in high speed. I live in a tropical climate with tropical rain down pours, RainX is your friend. Two, even with the update to Auto High Beams they don't work on rural dirt roads. All you will get on dirt roads is low beams. As a driver you can not over ride the system by turning on the high beams on. Yes you can flick the lights to oncoming traffic but to force them to stay on you can't. The only way to force the high beams on is to go in the menu and turn off the Auto High Beams. Three, no cross traffic warning or blind side warning in the side mirrors. It is sad that I can buy a car 25k to 30k cheaper than my M3 to get these safety features. When you consider my side job of food delivery always in parking lots and driving more than the average person these features mean so much more than there made out to be useful. When you look at how safe a Tesla is you can see the focus was on "crash safety" while other brands focus on helping you "not" to crash in the first place. So the bigger question is to ask yourself which company stands to make more money in repair parts or replacement cars? The company that lets you have higher chance of having a accident without providing older safety warning systems or a company that doesn't have the highest tech but will provide you the safety warning systems to help prevent a accident?
    Even after what I just wrote I still believe the M3 is one of the best cars out there, is it perfect no but if enough people tell it like it really is maybe it will be perfect someday.

    This is a great car and a great road trip EV. It's incredibly efficient in both warm and cold climates. Even though it's RWD it has excellent traction and handling in snowy conditions. The thing that stands out is that the LFP battery can be charged to 100% on a daily basis and we typically have more range available to us at any given moment than some friends with a Model Y LR, who charge to 80% on a daily basis. Our 2022 Fremont M3 RWD seems to have great fit and finish with no issues at ~15K miles.

    Was gonna take a rwd model 3 this month with the 3750 discount and additional NJ 2k discount however decided to wait until Tesla adds the HD radar and maybe a longer range LFP with faster charging. Have no home charging but close to a lot of superchargers within 5 miles and even a reliable Electrify America across the street (heard most aren’t). Also bunch of 2 hr free Volta chargers near by. Want the car for basic autopilot so want the radar the reduce phantom braking which I hear is a problem with vision only. Also more range would help in cold weather and trips to Florida (less stops). Test drove a few months ago and loved the car and support Elon (excluding brain chips)

    Glad you are totally happy with the SR version of the Model 3. For me the LR would be only option since I travel 4 to 6 times a year over 1200 miles so that longer range is definitely a plus.
    Over the 1 Year, 1 Month and and 15 days I have owned my Model Y LR I have put over 41,700 miles. The faster charging plus only charging to 60 - 70% on average to get to next charger with about 10% range means most of my charges are 20 minutes or less and I am good for around 180 or about 2.5 hours before I get stir crazy and want to move around.

    • @ZipZoomZip
      @ZipZoomZip Рік тому

      No doubt, the LR Model 3 is better for long-distance driving, but many people do very little of that (and the Standard Range is still better at long-distance driving than any other EV due to the speed and intuitiveness of the Supercharger Network).

      @dmunro9076 Рік тому +2

      @@ZipZoomZip We just drove our 2022 M3 RWD ~2000 miles to our winter home and range was no problem at all. The charging speed is a bit less than on the M3/MY AWD cars but the battery is also 30% smaller, so the time to charge to ~80% or higher is about the same or better and charging to ~95% is probably faster because the car charges very fast above 80% SOC . We also have a CCS1 adapter and use CCS1 chargers when it's convenient and cost effective to do so.

      I just drove on a 2k round trip in my RWD, it's my second time in a few months. I had no issues, the charge wait isn't much of a difference either, your not utilizing the entire battery in a trip. Your charge slows down high in the pack, the idea is to charge to a level that is just needed to get to the next super charger. Not utilize the full battery.

    Funny. In Europe the Model 3 is considered a big car. I have 4 inches to the white lines on both sides of my Model 3. Model S or X almost can’t park within the white lines of a regular parking space. I would love to have wider parking spaces, because the standard have not changed since the 1960 ties where cars in Europe were even smaller. So we have so many dents in cars from doors. I have the exact same thoughts as you about display and buttons. The minimalistic is awesome, and I definitely do not miss car keys or even a screen in front of the steering wheel or 360 view. Remember that even if the electricity cost is the same as gas. You have no spark plugs, no oil, oil filter, exhaust or anything else that will rust or needs service, so you still save tons of money. The handles are not there due to safety. You can crack your skull on them in a collision if the airbags does not deploy.

  • @HWKier

    I have exactly the same SR model 3 as you with about half of your mileage on it so far. I have had three minor incidents. First, my spouse put a minor dent in the back fender while learning to use the screen to back up. Second, I got a flat tire, which was a learning experience on how to prepare for flats in a car without a spare. Third was the famous bug-splat incident. We were driving down the freeway on a sunny day when suddenly the windshield wipers came on. There was no way to turn them off. For a while we considered having to reboot the car's computer, but at the last minute, I noticed that a large bug had gone splat right on top of the rain sensor. None of these three incidents in any way have diminished my love of the car.

    SC has almost doubled in price since 2019 which is unfortunate. The avg price used to be .22/KWh in FL; Now it's about .38/KWh; charging at home for me is about .8/KWh but solar panels make it charging mostly free. SC price increases have been the only downside to our EVs. Still relatively cheap. If you go to a parking station and go inside, some places have a partnership that if you are charging just show your tesla keycard or tesla app and they will validate a parking pass so you can park for free. An airport in the Southern Georgia area does this.

    There are times I wish I had purchased a RWD model 3. I’m a year into owning a top trim level 2022 Bolt (post battery recall unit). It really has served me very well as a commuter car. I don’t really do road trips in it, but do have 19k miles in a year. The DCFC is horrible, but it does work and for $30k new, without a single visit to a dealership or service center, I’ve actually been quite happy with it.
    All that being said, my next car, in like 5 years, will probably be a Tesla. Hopefully they work out the build quality by then.
    I do dislike how many buttons there are in the Bolt. The steering wheel alone has 9 buttons, two of which also toggle.
    Free L2 charging at work, so I never have to charge at home. Roughly $250 total in charging fees, since new.

    I am considering purchase of a Model 3, but phantom braking stories scare me. A friend bought a MY about 2 months ago and he had MANY occurrences beginning immediately after purchase. Is this ever going to be solved by Tesla. Other cars with autopilot features don't seem to have this.

    I love Tesla but the only thing I would like to have is a HUD. Idk why but HUD is very futuristic and modern. And that would help many people who wanna have extra screen for clusters(its not me). But I drove cars with HUD and it can be really good. It showing you arrows for exit etc, like in racing games with arrow barricades XD if tesla would have it there is nothing in competition I would be interested with.

    Im trading in my Bronco I do get 450+ mile range, but man I hate gas its $3.50 a gallon. I live in farm land all the roads are 50mph and its like a 25-30min drive to all the shops, but every gas station here has tesla super chargers lol. I had a Mach-E Cal route 1 but traded it in for the bronco base they gave me more than what I paid for it. Wish I didnt.... my wife has health issues see many doctors weekly and man..... Gas cost each month eating away $50-$60 to fill it. I tend to fill it at 1 quarter tank left which is 380miles. In works with a Tesla right now just waiting. Getting a 2023 model 3 rwd in blue brand new for 38k person that ordered it didnt accept it because of bumper damage when coming off transport which they have repaired. Lets see. Once you drive an EV you really dont want to go back to a Gas.... for me anyway. After a week of the Bronco I was ehh I miss the EV lol just a way better feel.

    Your range changes based upon your consumption. This was an old update. Drive slow enough in good weather and you might see the range go to 300. I set my Model X to charge to 80% and the range of that 80% goes down in winter and up in summer. Thx for the video.

    Thanks for the comprehensive review! I agree with a lot of your points like the build quality and the auto pilot. I recently just hit 7k miles at 4 months of driving as well on my 2022 model 3 rwd and so far I have a couple of issues with it. The driver seat makes a creaking noise whenever I go over speed bumps and the car itself makes some sticky ish sounds when going over speed bumps as well. Its kind of annoying and I'm not sure if I should go through the hassle of making a service appointment for them. Other than that it's been really fun though and definitely agree with the storage space being surprisingly spacious considering it is a smaller sedan compared to the likes of a camry or accord for examples.

    100% agree with your view and assessments here. took delivery of MYP last July and took me 6 visits to fix some issues - very reluctantly done some work to fix the car , bottom-line car is good and solid but I would have enjoyed this car if they had better QC . Happy with the car , driving it is awesome - range is good (better than my bladder ;) ) - happy customer but not blown away by their quality control - wish the company would listen to their customers and invest more time on fixing issues before delivering the car. - No FSD here - very expensive for what it can offer TODAY.

      @@VTShaggy mostly aesthetic- only on little rattle that fixed myself (very silly fix) , and every time I went there was a 400 miles round trip and they “broke” something else or let something out of whack.
      So I had enough and did it myself. I’ve owned BMWs (several and brand new) and they were not perfect either - something we all need to understand is that no car is going to be 100% perfect. There’s a lot of cherry picking on Tesla QC but being honest- all cars have something.
