By this point Peter had been touring continuously for three years in support of his massive hit album 'Frampton Comes Alive.' His voice sounds as though he'd woken up with a wine glass in his hand after having smoked a little happy grass.
It's also not the right acoustics for this type of song, or the audio feed is just poor. This is the same festival that Skynyrd played at too that year? Ronnie didn't sound so great either I don't think.
That was the way it was back then when this song came out! I remember having on my headphones and staring at the cover and being in love with Peter Frampton! He had it going on! Can you imagine what life was like for him? He probably got women everywhere he went!
I was at that Concert in Oakland CA. 1977, "A Day on the Green" at the Oakland Coliseum. What a lineup... Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana and the Outlaws. Phenomenal concert maybe >6 hours long. Just a few months later Skynyrd's main band members killed in plane crash. Those times and memories carry me like a Freebird.
I remember when the Frampton Comes Alive album came out. I was 14 and I had such a crush on him, I wouldn't even look at a guy unless he had long curly blond hair!
This is the exact concert that Lynyrd Skynyrd played in as well. Frampton came onstage first. That's why there's so many women in the audience when people react to the "Free Bird" clip from Skynyrd. LOL!
Actually, if you would like to see a beautiful performance by a mature Peter, look up a video he made during the Covid shutdown. He plays a cover of George Harrison's lovey song "Isn't It a Pity". Peter was planning a farewell tour of Europe as he was retiring due to a degenerative muscle disease he is suffering from. The tour got cancelled due to Covid, so he made this film. On YT, it is listed as -PETER FRAMPTON BAND - ISN'T IT A PITY. in case you can't show it cause of copyright, I recommend you watch it yourself. Peter is a lovely man and a great guitarist.
It's funny, you can tell it's the same concert as the Free Bird video because you see many of the same girls in this video, you can even see "Sunburned Platinum Blonde Girl" off in the distance of at least one shot. She must have been redder than a lobster by the time the show ended. And as always, to everyone getting horned up by the girls, remember that they are probably grandmothers or great-grandmothers now!
One of these days you should react to the cover of this song from 1988 called “Baby I Love Your Way/Freebird” that was a radio hit by the band Will To Power. The girl has a great voice and it’s worth watching the video just to trip out on the guy singer’s vibe also. 🙂
Yep, Same day and crowd that Skynyrd made go crazy when you reviewed them doing Freebird. And I doubt that all the girls were there just to see Frampton.
Hey now!! Idk about grandma! 😂😂 Btw, in that video where he had a " punch your face" face. I'm pretty sure he was super high. Do the Frampton Comes Alive album.
Summer of 1977 Philadelphia's JFK Stadium outdoor Festival Peter Frampton Lynyrd Skynyrd J geils and Dickey Betts what an awesome day Under the Sun seeing that line up this was about two months before the play crash with Lynyrd Skynyrd
OH yea he is the baby face wizard you wanted to punch ,,say it ain't so Biz ,hold back hold back .. Yes this this the tour with Lynyrd Skynrd as the opening act
..... So..... you asked for Acoustic and live performances: The Pretenders doing Radiohead's "Creep". This video: "Creep by The Pretenders" on the Luciano Werhli channel has the lyrics too. I think you reviewed Radiohead's version a couple years ago.
Biz, you are a hoot!! But you are right, these girls were just swooning. Peter ( and Steve Marriott) would tell you that this is a double edged sword. on one hand, they can't help but love the girls going nuts over them, the screaming and getting mobbed gets real old, plus serious music lovers might lose respect. This is why Peter & Steve formed Humble Pie and did everything they could to loose the teeny boppers, they wanted to be respected for their musical skills, not their good looks. If you want a great belly laugh, YOU MUST look for a hilarious video from German TV of Humble Pie, in 1969 playing their song "SAFE AS YESTERDAY IS". It is not supposed to be funny, but between the crazy faux futuristic set with weird S&M mannequins, REALLY NERDY German teenagers dancing like Elaine on Seinfeld (maybe you are too young to know that reference), and Steve looking like he'd rather be anywhere but there, Greg and Jerry look like their face would crack if they smile, but Peter, bless his heart , is giving his all smiling, singing and playing guitar (mimed). Be sure to look at the the video (there are 2 on YT) that is titled "Humble Pie - As Safe as Yesterday-1969 HQ Colorized" Don't pull up the one with the crazy psychedelic film overlaid - you can't see shit. I have watched this film many time and it still cracks me up ! PLEASE watch it... It's so bad, it's good!
I wish the world was still like this.
We all had a Peter Frampton Alive album......fantastic band...
All us old grandmothers (now) drooled over him then ❤😅

Peter Frampton was a great song writer and extremely good looking.
I saw him live. Very talented. He had a great band.

I was a teen then and I had that hair and I remember it was a real blessing for me! LOL
So 70s and so cool. And I'm basically an 80s metal-head.
I was 17 and crazy about Peter Frampton. This was so good.

Anything off the Frampton Comes Alive album.

I think this is same Oakland show as the Skynyrd video from Oakland you reacted to.Looks like Billy Powell's white piano
