Autumn Has Arrived At The Plot! Allotment Gardening UK

- Autumn has definitely arrived at the allotment plot! I spent the day dodging the rain, and there was a real 'nip' to the air!
My tomatoes are still doing really well in the polytunnel, and I am still harvesting beans, so summer is still hanging on, though!
I wanted to focus my attention today on the asparagus bed, I wanted it clear so that in the next few weeks, I can cut down the ferns and mulch with lots of compost. The first step was to remove the strawberries and give it a good weed! The strawberrys and runners II decided to take to my home garden, where I started a new vegetable garden area with raised beds.
Thank You for watching and supporting my channel!

Hi Gemma! This was lovely to watch 😊 tomatoes are looking great and looks like you will get lots more off them before they are finished. Love the little strawberry runners that have made their way into the path. Looking forward to seeing how they develop next season. Great to meet at Malvern today and thank you for being so lovely with my little boy 🥰 have a brilliant week ahead! 😊🪴💚

Great to still be harvesting tomatoes still isn't it 🍅.
So many strawberry plants and it's great you took some home, the children will love picking those to eat when they ripen.
So nice seeing you at Malvern yesterday ❤ x
Hi Linda 👋 great to see you and I can't wait to see your next video on UA-cam to see everything you captured at Malvern! You must have been exhausted! Great to see you as always Linda 😀 xxx
I see lots of strawberry jam in the future🥰🥰. Well done!

All looking great Gemma very cold here too
Hi Emma, autumn is definitely here isn't it! 🥶
Great job, Gemma. I grow some strawberry plants in hanging baskets and hang them in my greenhouse i early February, to get an early harvest. they need to be left outside in the cold untill then, otherwise , if kept warm, they won't fruit. happy gardening 🙂
That sounds like a great idea Thank You! I will give that a try next year 👍 have a great weekend! 😀
what happened to summer gem!!!! It was a blink in the eye! The plot is looking good though. Danny xx
The summer left as quick as it got here 😅 xXx
It’s been soooo cold the past fee days. 4°c last night in the polytunnel. Brrrr
Plot is productive and you will be enjoying lots of strawberries next year too. 😍
There's nothing like that chill to the air that says summers over autumn is here is there?! It just seems to hit us 🥶 I hope so Clare, I think I got 2 this year! 🍓 you win some you lose some 😅 see you tomorrow! ☺️
@@GemInTheGarden mine weren’t as productive as I hoped this year. Next year will be our year.
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow 😍
@TheFarmyardGarden 😘
Everything looks productive f xx🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓
Thank You 😊
Wow Gemma...
That is a lot of 🍓🍓🍓runners! I have no doubt that you will have an amazing strawberry harvest next year! You had better start saving jars now for all that jam you'll be making!!!!
Hi Annie, I didn't realise I had so many 😅 I hope so, this year I didn't have great success with strawberries so I'm hoping next year is better xx
This has poked me to do my strawberries (well, to at least add that to the list 😂!). Thank you Gemma.
Let me know how many you end up with lol I now have about 17000 lol xx
It looks lovely, no such thing as too much strawberry, for either garden or belly.
That chilly wind is here in Oslo too. Had to put long underwear on.
Exactly, you can never have enough strawberries 🍓 it's getting colder everyday, autumn is definitely here in the UK. I think Oslo is similar is temperature as us? Hope you're having a great weekend ☺️
Awesome video buddy :D
Thank You, Jason! I hope you're having a great weekend ☺️
@@GemInTheGarden I am thanks buddy, hope are too :D
Great Thank You, I was at the Malvern show today, great fun!
@@GemInTheGarden Hope the weather was ok for you :D
It stayed dry so that was good!
Remember that raspberries spread underground so you will have many new canes coming up every where.
Hopefully I can control them at the back of the allotment plot 😊
You will be having strawberries for days next year Gemma! Love the dragonfly in the polytunnel. Hope you have had a great week?
Was worried about it getting to 3c last night and not covering anything but it was ok.
Going to be digging up the other two California wonder peppers to overwinter. I am just making sure the one i dug up was ok after potting up since it had stopped producing loads.
Slowly getting the cooler crops out but will plant out cabbages and broccoli when the tomatoes come out.
Hope you have a fabulous week. Take care.
Hee hee I definitely have a lot of strawberries 🍓 hopefully they come of something next year as this year wasn't great, I think Inhad 2! 😅
I will be waiting till the tomatoes come out too for sure. I will be overwintering my chilli's and peppers 🌶 I have quite a few so I will leave them in the greenhouse until the temperatures really drop, then I will cut them back and put them on top of my kitchen cupboards.
Hope you're having a great weekend! ☺️
@@GemInTheGarden We put ours in the bathroom with the succulents and ginger.
It gets better indirect light up there but it gets like a tropical jungle over winter! lol
Our strawberries weren't that great this year either and did try to do a second flush until the cold snap came. We are getting a second flush of raspberries so hopefully they will all ripen in time.
If you haven't try them you should try growing yellow Kentucky wonderwax beans. We had so many compared to the runner beans this year. We are saving the remaining beans for seeds as we are getting bored of them now. I think we will have a break from them before trying to get through the two large bags in the freezer! Crazy all in a 1m row of them.
The Bathroom is a great idea, I have a lot I'm bringing in this year (lime, Lemon, Orange etc) so I really need to get creative with space! 👏I've never heard of the kentucky wonderwax but just looked online and they look fab! 👍
@@GemInTheGarden Yes i am always tucking them away somewhere in the house, much to hubby's dismay! lol
I have a lot of tomato cuttings i am trying to over winter again that needs potting up. Also growing a dwarf tomato for over winter under grow lights on the windowsill. The stuff to go out is in the utility area. I am always propagating something i have trimmed back or experimenting with. Anything with a bit of light, i'll stick a plant there! lol
Yes first for us too this year! Need to check but i think i got a load in the packet from this year still if you want some? I am saving seeds too. It was just something different to runner beans and dwarf French beans and wanted to do the 3 sisters. I can send you a pic of some of the ones we picked if you like? They are pole beans and take about 12 -14 weeks until harvest time.
That would be great Thank You! I'm just back from The Malvern Show, great fun but I'm very tired now! ☺️
