measure your plot reasonably accurate and fid out where North is this will give you the layout for your plot. don't try and do it all in a week or a month ... its a marathon not a sprint. You can always cover it with landscape fabric or black plastic while you decide and weigh it down with some big tubs from your local pound shop and grow stuff in these to give you a crop while you clear it. then when it comes to planting just roll a bit back and sort that. Moving the shed by the tree is OK but dont forget it will be dry under the shed so you'll be taking up some of the rainfall from the tree. better to have some grass under there and sit under it for shade. Take a look at Steve 'Greenside up' s videos on starting a new plot ... well worth it Most of all Enjoy it You've got it for life if you want it 😎 Nick
Now your plot has been trimmed, you need to work out which area you are going to use first, this area will need to be dug over, and as many roots you can get at removed, the rest can be covered over before weeds start growing back. Good luck and don't give up, keep going, and do a bit by bit. You can cover the plot with black plastic to stop the light from reaching the ground to weaken weeds and stop the germination of weed seeds that are already in the ground. All the best.
Absolutely amazing the garbage people leave on allotments but your doing a fantastic job 👏👏👏. You will be so happy once done clearing out and planting. Great job from SW Canada 🇨🇦🐝 safe
I agree with other comment on moving shed away from tree. Perhaps closer to the edge of plot near path where you can get access to tools. it wont take up valuable plot for growing.
Hello 👋 yes we did take the advice and moved the shed, you can see where we put it in this video 😊 ua-cam.com/video/9-gC54UMfCI/v-deo.html Thank You for watching 😀
Hi there. I just started my own channel, as I got an allotment plot(3). I saw your channel and watched your videos to get some ideas, good work hun, keep it up.
I'm very much looking forward to following your new allotment adventure. I also got my first plot about a month or so ago. So incredibly rewarding. Have fun and wishing you all the very best.
I put my name down for an allotment a couple of weeks ago, thinking it would be a months or years wait, and got a text a couple of days later saying there was half a plot (which is plenty!) available 😂 I took it as I thought maybe it was now or never! Very unprepared but it’s in a better state than yours so that’s good for me who’s a total novice. Need to dig it over - and need to google how to do that haha
Beautiful plot ready & waiting for you to bring it back to life & create something amazing 🤩 can’t wait to see it develop. I got my plot last year. It’s been so much fun. Watch Steve from greenside up as he has amazing tips & advice when starting a new plot. He covers EVERYTHING 👍🏻 he’s really helped me. good luck 🍀
I enjoyed your video 😊 I will subscribe! I was just wondering, how big your plot is? I'm going to look at one on Monday, I think it is 5 poles. Thanks 😊
Thank You for going all the way back to the begining ☺️ That is a support for a Grapevine, the vine rests on it. The Grapevine is absolutely huge and runs the whole length of the plot! Amazing 🍇
Hey 👋 its roughly 10 meters by 6 meters, I'm not sure how many poles that is, sorry! Congratulations on your new allotment and I hope you have a great growing season ☺

Hi Harriet 👋 congratulations on your new allotment! How exciting! ☺️ how are you getting on so far? Keep me updated on your progress 😊
Put your nettles in a big barrel add rain water or tap then you’ll have nettle tea to feed your plants great nitrogen hit 🙂
Hi Kevin, Thank You for the advice 😊 Have a great week and take care!
I'm so curious how it will develop, done much that day
Hi Angela, we are hoping to finish the clearing, flattening and adding the raised beds this week, weather permitting!

Golly, it takes a strong person to not flinch at the sight of all that work. The two of you seem ready, though. Best of luck.🇨🇦👍🥕👩🌾🍅
When I look back at what the plot looked like when we took it over, I cant beleive what we have achieved! Thank You Frances 😀

Hi Lily, I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😀 its around 15 meters long, I think that's around 3 rods ☺
Not sure where in the UK you are, but is it usual to have to wait as long as you have ?
Hi John, it varies, my dad waited nearly 4 years for his, I think I had a relatively short wait 😀
Thanks. Looking forward to seeing you transform the plot
I love jumping back to beginnings.. What a lovely allotment site. What is the long seating for in the neighbouring plot ?
Thank You for going all the way back to the begining ☺️ That is a support for a Grapevine, the vine rests on it. The Grapevine is absolutely huge and runs the whole length of the plot! Amazing 🍇

Do you buy these little plots or rent them how does it work
Hi Richard, the plots are rented, I pay £40 per year 👍
that plot must have been unused for a while.
Hi Chris, I'm sure it was at least a year, we are still finding plastic 🙃 have a great week 😀
Is your plot a full plot or half plot
It's a full plot 👍
@@GemInTheGarden thank you.
