O no! We had a little mouse last winter he had a whale of a time in the shed. When emptying it in January found a pile of empty sunflower shells, he had made a back door to the shed. A full overhaul commenced old wood removed and new wood installed. Agree with "undertheumbels" quote there is never one mouse. Hope Vince gets it evicted asap, Thank you for sharing, bfn. 🐞🌻🌱
Hi Jane, it's such a shock when you find them isn't it! We will be in eviction more next week and hopefuly they find a new home 👍 have a great weekend 😀
There's never one mouse 😂. Your garlic cloves are HUGE, what an accomplishment! I struggle with garlic in my heat, but the elephant garlic does really well here.
You're totally right! There's never just 1 🤣🐀 where are you in the world? I tried elephant garlic this year but forgot to harvest it 🙃 not sure exactly where it was 😅
@@GemInTheGarden I'm in Southeast Texas and I purchased a type of elephant garlic from a farmer in Arizona called "Lewis and Clark Garlic" that was part of that expedition and I believe was genetically tested. It perennializes here, so if I forget where I put it (a common problem 😁), it will pop back up in clusters. Its more onion-y in flavor, so I use it in a lot of soups and stocks rather than fresh.
Isn't it crazy that we see a mouse and think how cute. But when it starts scurrying about, or there is more than one, it gets us jumpy. I react exactly the same as you, Gemma.
Fab update Gem ❤ Wow you did so much in an hour! We've been thinking of planting some garlic in the polytunnel too for the same reason. Our garlic had rust and we harvested mini garluc as a result 😂 Think yourself lucky that you have mice, could be worse ...... rats like we have on our allotment 😂 Have a great weekend ❤️ xx
Linda I would highly recommend planting garlic in the polytunnel the first year I did it, I just put the leftover cloves in to see when they would do and they did so much better than outside. From then on I've always spilt them but the outside ones aren't really worth doing 😕 that's why this year I'm only doing inside. The mice Linda they did make me jump! Well yes that's true isn't it, I'm glad they aren't rats! Have a fab weekend xxxx
They are garlic gemma. I'd dig them all up and space them out, to ensure a big bulb in summer..alternatively leave them and harvest in spring as a green garlic. Beautiful! Danny 🌱
Gemma, make sure it i garlic before eating as they may be daffodil leaves., which of course are poisonous. Just check the small when you dig them. I grow Provence White- have been growing that for years. Adorable little mouse. Happy gardening 🙂
@@GemInTheGarden I use down pipes pushed or dug in the ground a pot ontop to help the critters and take pot off to water and feed that way the ground stays dry if no rain and the roots get what they need happy gardening Richardx
That would make me scream too! Hopefully you can get rid of them before they breed more. You can split those cloves and plant them separately if you wanted to. We are going to sow Provence and Music Porcelain but are going to wait until Feb to plant them as they grow too much over autumn/ winter for us and don't seem to get as much chill time. We have just put them in the fridge for now to get the chill hours. Hope you have a lovely weekend. x
I'm going to clear the shed out next week when I go down to the plot and hopefuly they will find another home 🐀🤞 I will split them next week and replant 👍 Good selection 👌 Have a fabulous weekend x
@@GemInTheGarden Fingers cross for you. I thought i had commented earlier but i must not have hit the comment button. doh! If they don't leave you can get those humane traps and take them to a park or common to release them. x
As was already said, it's never just one mouse. They breed several times a year and have large litters. If I were you, I would clear out that shed of anything that they could use as shelter, nesting material or food, and leave it empty for awhile. I have had mice use overturned flower pots as a winter nest. Maybe they'll move on to someone else's shed.
I think you're right, I think the shed needs a good clear out. I will do that next week and hopefuly they find another home for the winter 🤞🐀have a fabulous weekend 😀
Gemma those look like bulbils. Elephant garlic in particular is known for forming them. It will make a bulb, but typically in 2-3 years. I would dig them up and plant them out more well spaced. If you don't want to wait the 2-3 years, then they should develop enough by next late spring/early summer to pull and use like a "green garlic". Very tasty.
Hello Gemma, Did you plant any onions near the mystery plants? I had something similar and it grew into a giant bulb of onion seeds. OMG I hate rodents......squirrels.....and rabbits....Nice job on the garlic mine will go in this weekend. Take care bye for now, Steven
Hey Steven, no I've never grown onions there, but I'm wondering if a previous plot holder has 🤔 yes I dont like how they scurry around 🐀 have a fabulous weekend 😀
Hi just subscribed to your channel! I've got an allotment in the NE Scotland and have just planted some of my garlic outside but I'll need to put a cover over it or it rots away in the winter.
Welcome to my channel! Thank You for subscribing and supporting ☺️ yes it's definitely best to cover it 👍 I still have a bit of garlic left to plant so may put it outside as I have it spare, I will cover it too. Hope you've had a great weekend 😀
I found some cuties in my compost bin this week. I think they were baby rats not mice though. I also screamed 😂 You’ve got a lot of garlic in there. Well done. I’m planting caulk wight, Provence wight, Germidor and some elephant garlic too 🥰
It's when they scurry around Clare! They are so fast! 🐀 Nice selection of garlic, I might pick up a few more different bulbs as I do like trying new ones too 😀 X
😂 brilliant video! I’d be the same with the mice 🫣 What a great achievement in that short time you had. That area looks so good 😊 Liked meeting Joe too, 👋🏼
What Variety Of Garlic Are You Planting This Year?
I'm doing 4, thermodome, pink, white and had 4 elaphant cloves given. So we shall see what happens,
Great selection Lisa!

I’m sure the garlic will be delicious, lovely to see what’s going on at the allotment.
Can you believe I've got a family of mice in the shed 😅 I screamed!!! 😱 hee hee Thank You xx
Oh Gemma what an exciting day you’ve had. I don’t think I’d be as brave as you with the mice🤣🤣. Another great video!
Thank You Wanda 😊 I'm not sure why I felt so brave to investigate 😅 there was so many of them 🐀

That's great that it's a perennial, how amazing! Gardening in Texas must have its challenges and be great at the same time 😊
Gemma about the mouse it's a great sign of a person who is concerned about Animals
I love animals Ned ☺️

Oh for sure! When I loved the hose and so many ran in different directions it really spooked me! Have a fab weekend 😀
Mice I can handle its rats runny I don’t like 😂. Great update Gem I hope the garlic 🧄 does well. Have a super weekend, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
I don't like either 😅🐀 especially when they are scurrying around I'm front of me 🤣 Have a fabulous weekend 🥰 x

It looks like one bulb of garlic which has split into cloves and is now re sprouting. I’ve got something similar on my plot.

I don't mind one mouse but lots of mice is another story! 😅🐀😱
Ah I hate mice!!!
I don't mind them when they aren't running around near me! 🐀😅
I had some mice or rats eat up my two big boxes of slug bait, so I guess they will be really sick with tummy aches
Yes I think they will be feeling very poorly 🐀
