    Your video makes so much sense, wisdom, had to subscribe, may buy this exact rod but have to see first and feel 901 vs this one.

    Love my nrx rods and one thing about the g loomis rods you forget to mention is the warranty. It’s hard to beat 🔥

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  Рік тому +3

      You are correct. Shimano/GLoomis generally has the better warranties for high end rods. However I usually avoid discussions about warranty because they change so much. I have a seperate insurance policy for my fishing equipment that is better than all of the warranties. For a $100 deductible I can have any of my high end equipment replaced. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

      @@familybudgetfisherman Shimano's warranty is a bit misleading. They switched from a lifetime warranty to a 1 year warranty. Anything inside that year and they want you to ship it to them to investigate, and may or may not honor the warranty. Outside of that year, or if you break it yourself, or you just want to skip the wait to send it in, and they'll sell you a rod at half the MSRP. St. Croix will replace it for 10 years on their high end models, and if you break it yourself its a flat fee. I recently broke my Expride out of warranty and got one for 1/2 off. I had the finish chip off my Legend Tournament and it was like 25 bucks or something for them to ship me a new one and show proof I cut the old one off at the handle. I don't have any experience with the Loomis warranty, but I heard its better than Shimano.

      This (insurance) would make a great video topic! I use Megabass rods and they don’t have the best warranty but the craftsmanship is just so good.

    So glad you like your NRX+ and the Vanford. Thanks for having a great mix of low, med, and high end rods with explanations how they can be affordable! I like my $25 Gander Mountain Tournament Light action rod with a Shimano Spirex 1000FD for smaller fish, but then for longer cast have to admit My NRX+901S with a Shimano 3000M Exsence was saved for, waited till 20% of rod and shopped JDM reel. As you mentioned awhile ago look for deals! Even if for lower priced gear or high end. Shop around! And don’t even think of breaking your Family’s Budget! Can’t wait for some on the water shorts!

      You are welcome! Also, thank you as well for your kind words and continued support. I have relied on your comments for many of my purchasing decisions as well. No matter how many high-end rods and reels we own, we always have to have some of the low end equipment in our arsenal. As I have always said, I will never let go of my Ugly Stiks. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    I'm happy to see your on the water review of the NRX. I prefer to fish light ned rigs and 4" weightless Senkos or Yums when ever possible. Sensitivity and casting abilities are important to me. In a previous video you mentioned the St. Croix Legend Xtreme was the most sensitive rod in your collection. Is the NRX any more sensitive or about the same? Which one can cast light lures better? I have handled an NRX and they are certainly eerily light. They almost seem too light in the shorter lengths. Your reviews are always helpful especially when shelling out big bucks for a rod.

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so very much for your kind words! I’m glad to know that the videos are helpful and entertaining. The St. Croix legend extreme is still, in my view, more sensitive when it comes to 1/8 ounce and 3/16 ounce weight presentations, which is my sweet spot for finesse presentations. I detect strikes more easily and I have a better sense of the bottom terrain
      The difference is that the Legend Extreme has a slightly softer tip than the NRX+ and that gives it the edge in sensitivity.
      HOWEVER… the NRX+ handled weightless 1/16 and 1/4 ounce presentations better than the Legend Extreme. The stiffer tip handles weightless and the heavier weights better. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Cheers from Peter in Maine. I am so glad I found your channel. Great stuff and you are the star other than in this case the NRX+; ( har-har ). I am a long time fly fisherman but am fairly disabled so I am looking for a spinning/rod set-up ; as you say wisely ( save your dollars ). There is room for BOTH type of budget. PLEASE KEEP IT UP FOR BOTH. THANK YOU.

      Thank you so very much, Peter! I definitely appreciate you watching the video and supporting the channel. Yes, we will let the NRX+ be the ⭐️! I agree that there is room for both types of budget buying. My wonder is why so many have trouble with the saving for a purchase as part of budget buying. 🤔👏🏿👏🏿🎣

It's a Gloomis GLX 891s jwr, a 7'6 ML spinning rod, retail is $550-$575 USD. It has the potential to be >NRX+. Please seriously consider, you won't be disappointed. Thank you my friend-

    I really want to get a G Loomis rod ( the NRX+ INSHORE 902S ) witch is announce for 1/4 -1/2 . To you're opinion , do you think we can trow a bit heavyer . 1/2 oz here in france mean's 14 grs , and I usually use 18/19 grs .
    thank's in advance . have a nice fishing day .🙂

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  10 місяців тому

      Yes you can throw 18 to 19 g lures on that NRS plus inshore rod. My recommendation is to just be careful since it’s outside of the high end of the lure range. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Since Poison Adrena has the more advanced Spiral X Core vs the Spiral X in the NRX+, how do they compare in sensitivity during fishing, spec with bottom contact applications?

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  Рік тому +2

      Nearly identical! The only time you can tell a difference is when you are throwing 1/8oz bottom contact baits in favor of the NRX+ due to its extrememly light weight and more narrow blank. However there is no difference between the rods with when presenting a 1/4 and 3/8 ounce bait. Hard baits favor the Adrena and soft baits favor the NRX+ 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

      I have lots of videos among the 128 I have posted that are dedicated to meagerly budgeted equipment that you may be looking for. This channel is dedicated to family budgets of many different sizes; not just those who can only afford an Ugly Stik. My belief is that many of us can afford more than what we give ourselves credit for. We just have to plan our purchases rather than be the impulse buyer that the retailer want for us to be. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

      @familybudgetfisherman  6 місяців тому

      I don’t own an NRX. I own the NRX+. That said, the NRX+ is far superior to the St. Croix Victory in every comparative category such as sensitivity, weight, responsiveness, and performance. I believe there is generally no need for a person to purchase an NRX+ if they already on a St. Croix Victory (outside of a tournaments and ergonomic considerations). 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    G Loomis seems to over rate their rods in that their medium power seems to be more of a medium light. My Pro Green for inshore is rated medium heavy is more like my Medium power St Croix rods. But I like them.
