    5:29-
On another note, despite her 1st husband Daniel Parke Custis having been 20 years Martha Dandridge Custis Washington's senior, they'd have four children during their seven year marriage -yet she doesn't appear to have ever become pregnant by George during their 40 year marriage despite his being slightly younger than her. . Tragically, she'd outlive all four children but did have seven grandchildren[who have surviving progeny] by her last son before his death at age 26 . Yes, it appears that the 1st US President who was termed 'The Father of Our Country' was likely sterile.

1:32- Edith Bolling Galt Wilson was also a direct descendant of Pocahontas, the Virginian Native American princess who was the daughter of Powhattan- the ruler of as many as 30 tribes in the Chesapeake Bay region! During President Wilson's presidency neither women nor Native Americans could legally vote in Presidential elections but despite being a woman and a proud descendant of Pocahontas, she didn't attempt to influence her stricken husband to expand the citizenship rights of either demographic.

The reason she was suspected of killing him was the Teapot Dome Scandal. At the time of Harding's death the scale of the impending scandal was just beginning to be clear and Florence knew that her husband's negligence was largely responsible for it and he would rightly be blamed for it. Therefore, she hastened his demise, figuring his death would halt the criticism of her husband and not tarnish his legacy. She didnt get her wish. Harding is ranked at the bottom or near the bottom of the list of presidential greatness.

Contradictory info on Martha Washington. You just said that George Washington freed his slaves "in his will", then castigate Martha for not freeing her slaves until she died! Explain the difference. Doesn't someone have to die before their will goes into effect?

It may depend on the state and when the death occurred if laws have changed. But I’ve looked at my ancestors wills doing genealogy and found that the wills for my deceased males ancestors who died first were not even probated until their wives died. So far I haven’t found any wills for wives that died before their husband to know if it ever worked the other way around.
