Highlight of the movie for me is Professor Charles "OG" Xavier (really pissed he got killed in the Illuminati Universe, but I expect another Universe to have the original X-Men with the Professor) -
The pizza vendor is bruce cambell who had a bunch of cameos in the original spiderman triology and starred in the evil dead movies . he is good friends with sam raimi and it was great seeing him.

The vendor spelled to hit himself was Bruce Campbell, and this was a callback to the Evil Dead movies (where Raimi got his start) where Bruce's hand got possessed and attacked him.
They should have had him cut it off with a chainsaw, in the "post credit" scene, but maybe that would have been just a bit too on the nose...
And the spider man movies. The OG ones. But yeah. I liked the callback.
and it was a brilliant move to have Bruce Campbell in this one. I'm sure there were a few minor elements in MultiMadness that were inspired by the Evil Dead movies.

Bruce Campbell once joked that no part of that car is original anymore.
Marvel told us a long time ago that Multiverse of Madness was a horror movie, and now it sure doesn't disappoint.
Sam Raimi was the perfect director for this movie the jumpscares actually got me💀 and people in my theater did too.

I’ve cried each time during Wanda seeing what she becomes in front of her kids. She can’t catch a break.
In an interview, Elizabeth Olsen did say something about 838 Wanda being divorced from Vision and that he was still alive in that universe. Wanda wasn’t wearing any wedding ring so it is implied that she has some sort of shared custody with Vision or something lol

Destroying the Darkhold in every universe actually saved countless of lives since that book corrupts it's reader. I'm not saying her destroying the book will ensure there's peace because the Multiverse is full of threat but that's one less threat for every Universe.

Don't know if you're familiar with the Fantastic Four, but check out the 2 movies of the team that has Chris Evans. This was before he became Captain America. Also the F4 have a movie coming in the MCU, but it's unclear is John Krasinski will be returning to the role of Mr. Fantastic

25:14 Mount Wundagore is actually the birthplace of Wanda and her brother in the comics. It's also the place Chthon, who was briefly mentioned in the film, apparently handed a fraction of his chaos magic to her.
14:45 Wanda in comics was long considered being the strongest mutant (before she was retconned being genetically engineered vessel for magic) and lot of stories have been revolving around her changing (either by purpose or by accident) the entire reality of the world, House of M being probably the most famous.

What Wanda was doing was similar to what Kingpin was doing in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. He too wanted his family back but it would be at the expense of the multiverse.
My favorite part was hearing the reorchestrated opening track to X-Men: The Animated Series when Charles arrived. The subtitles marked it as the Theme of X-Men '97. I also liked hearing the little callback to Days of Future Past.
Also, X-Men '97 is the name of the upcoming reboot/sixth season of the original X-Men 90's cartoon. Most of the original voice cast is returning.
A Fantastic Four film is in development now. Until recently, MCU Spider-Man director Jon Watts was supposed to direct this new film. Instead, he'll be taking a sabbatical from superhero films until it's time to work on the fourth Spider-Man film. In the meantime, he's also gonna work on a Star Wars project.
Speaking of Spider-Man, they're gonna bring No Way Home back to theaters this September. This time, it'll be an extended cut known as the More Fun Stuff Version.

This is one of my fave MCU films since it checks the boxes of all my fave aspects:
- father-daughter dynamic
- quick, witty humor and snarkiness
- amazing fight scenes
- good acting and emotion
- awesome new character and concept introductions
- cameos and easter eggs
- horror elements, suspense and jumpscares etc.
- brutal slaughtering of heroes
- manages to reach out and explore new concepts in the mcu without really tying much into the main cinematic world that's already been established

@@elheber It's a superhero movie dude. If there's anything we've learned from any of these movies is that unless you see a body, they're not dead. And even sometimes even when you do see a body they still come back haha. There are few cases such as tony and Natasha where those people will probably stay dead but I very much doubt our Wanda is dead.

As Mary said, her redemption is difficult for all the deaths but it is also true that you can understand and empathize with her character's pain, not justifying the damage she has caused, but understanding that it is a reaction to all the traumas and losses, in addition to the fact that using the darkhold has destabilized her even more
actually wanda shows us the extremes of pain, depression, loss, addictions, ptsd, loss of control of your mind and emotions, she is a very human character in that aspect because she seeks happiness, and they show us all her mistakes to cause of these negative feelings and bad decisions
The film is essentially that, the question are you happy? is for all the characters, and they show us the different ways to deal with that

Since our Wanda dreams about the life of the other Wanda, then it probably means that Wanda dreams about the life of our Wanda. So she’s seen the pain she’s experienced. That made the ending scene so much more powerful.
If you view Wanda as suffering from an addiction (power) that she is trying to use to right wrongs in her life, her character becomes much more understandable. She relapses immediately after the events of Westview. It isn't truly a "choice" for her. Addiction isn't a choice.
EXACTLY! Relapse is very common for real life addictions. That’s exactly how I interpreted her character in the movie too

My interpretation was that she learned to move on from Vision at the end of WandaVision, but not from her children. In the end, she didn't stay behind too accept responsibly for what she did to the town. She immediately left to get her children back.
She murders A LOT of people, though, in the movie. At a certain point, my sympathy starts to hit zero. But I will say that Wanda taking herself (and the darkhold) out at the end was the right move.
Addiction absolutely is a choice, considering the way u get to become addicted is by CHOOSING a certain action. She chose all of her actions in westview except the original creation of it. She figured out fairly quickly what was going on and chose to keep going. She knew the evil that came with the dark hold and she still chose to indulge. That’s a choice. Not once did she take responsibility for any of her actions, but she instead found a way to cop out each time.

While I was a bit disappointed not to hear more of Strange's theme, Danny Elfman still did a good job with the score.
You also hear elements of Captain America: The First Avenger and X-Men: The Animated Series as well.
Was basically a mix of the Evil Dead series, Spider-Man trilogy and other stuff mixed in.
Black Bolt was already introduced in the Inhumans show that came out in 2017. Unfortunately, it did not do so well and got canceled after one season

Back in the early '80s a small group of college kids fresh out of film School went out to a cabin in the woods and made a low budget horror movie, its name was evil Dead. I highly recommend you watch it, Pizza Papa attacking himself with his own hand was an homage because without those movies this movie would not have existed.

Spiders release their webs from spinnerets in their lower abdomens, and generally pull in out with their legs "spinning" their webs. due to it coming from their lower abdomen it is often joked that it comes out of their butts. That is why here the joke was made in this when America asked if Spider-Man's webs came from his butt. Alos why the joke was made in No Way Home when The Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland versions of Peter found out that OG Peter produced his webs from his body that they asked if it came from anywhere else, internet commenters have joked for decades now that it should come from his butt.
You wouldn't find Vision on the other universes, they were using their Ultrons.
Clea is Dr Strange's wife in the comics... So it will be interesting to see what they do here.
Also the X-Men theme from the 90s when Xavier came out was awesome
I love this movie. I was a little bummed the first time I saw it. Wasn’t expecting how evil Wanda would get. But it makes sense, the Darkhold turns people evil all the time. It gave Stephen a 3rd eye! I hope Wanda comes back at some point. Especially if Vision ever comes back, since technically that white Vision has all of Vis’ memories. It would be really cool if she showed up on Agatha Harkness’ Disney+ show.

The Scarlett Witch was never really good or evil. I was really hoping they introduced Magneto as her father in this but I don't think they're going to do that in the movies. I thought that was going to be the big surprise.
She was always Evil, she just got to join the Avengers who willingly covered up for her.
That’s too messy, would require a full mutants unleashing, and magneto is no longer he father in the comics. That was done away.

Yeah, it’s been retconned in comics that he lied to the Maximoffs about being their father to get their loyalty. So they wouldn’t make him their parent in the films.
The actor playing Blackagar Boltagon, Anson Mount, also played Blackbolt in the ABC mini-series "Marvel's Inhumans", a spin-off of the "Agents of SHIELD" TV show. Inhumans had originally been slated as one of the Phase 2 or Phase 3 films, but was shifted over to TV when everything got shifted around.

For me it was just my ridiculously high expectations. I enjoyed it more the 2nd time around after I set those aside. Sometimes we want things to happen or not happen in the movie and its hard to put those aside and judge a movie for how it is on it's own terms and not your expectations of it.

Wanda is a hero in the comics, with some villainous turns and an evil background, I'm sure the MCU will play it the same way. She's a hero in the comics mostly, though. She's an Avenger and X-men.

Definitely don’t understand the camp who were “underwhelmed” with this one. I think it’s top 5 MCU.
Everyone just expects too much from the MCU at this point. Some people expect the best movie of the year out of the MCU after Infinity War and Endgame were so epic and huge.
Same, even if the writing isn’t perfect the style to the cinematography & horror elements make it stand out so much, most of the other films look & feel bland in comparison

It's super light on character work. Everyone's motives are super simple and the arcs are super predictable.
Something that kinda bugs me: Are any of the other Avengers concerned about Wanda and what's going on with her? Didn't any of them hear about Westview? Was kinda hoping she'd at least get a mention in the Hawkeye series, since the two of them were friends, but we didn't get anything.
"Are any of the other Avengers concerned..." ARE there even any "Avengers?" What IS an "Avenger" in 2024, 2025, or whatever year this is post-Endgame? Also, we don't yet know precisely when this takes place relative to the rest of those shows.
How many Avengers are left that knew Wanda? Hawkeye would be the only one concerned

Hawkeye is the only former avenger who had a bond with her, but he had no reason to mention her in the Hawkeye series, I doubt he would consider them close friends, sure they had a small bond after Ultron, but he retired so they probably didn't spend a ton of time together in between movies and then she was gone for five years, then they met during Tony's funeral and then Westview happened and one year passed between WV and Hawkeye so in the past 6+ years he only met her once.
DSMOM happens before Hawkeye show tho.

I honestly didn't handle the jump scares well when I saw it in theaters and I know why Marvel said it's going to the the first horror movie that they'll make. Also love the jacket, you look great! As for the Lady in the credit scene, that's clea, the niece of dormammu and in the comic Dr strange's wife.

The great thing about this movie is that it's very much a Marvel movie, but very much a Sam Raimi movie, as well. Raimi was the perfect director for this.

Hi, Mary! I hope you managed to enjoy the movie! I have to say, when I say Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness in theaters, I had my initial expectations that obviously, it was going to address the events of Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home through the multiple timelines branching apart and the effects of Stephen's first botched spell and the second spell that erased the world's memory of Peter Parker from existence, that it would have been a globetrotting adventure through space and time (universe-hopping, actually) with Stephen and America Chavez teaming up with Wanda, and that the real villains of the movie would have been darker variants of Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff that they would have to fight. While that didn't happen at all, we still managed to get a pretty good horror movie complete with jump scares, some genuinely frightening moments, gruesome and brutal deaths, and the full villain arc of the Scarlet Witch from start to finish. I understand why she did all that but I'm hoping that when we see Wanda again, she'll get a proper and extended redemption arc so she can atone for all her sinful and merciless actions.
She's not dead, I know it. Always remember Marvel's clear rule of thumb for mortality: unless you actually see the death happen, then they're not really dead.
Did you notice that the person punching his face for three weeks was Bruce Campbell and they made a Evil Dead reference with Scarlet Witch covered in blood _ made me smile

Watching this in theatres hits so different especially when Wanda kills Blackbolt, everyone was in shock
Don't forget that the last time we saw Vision, the blank copy had just been given all of the memories of the original Vision. He is probably taking some time to himself to sort all that out. I have no doubt we'll see him again, but whether it's in an MCU movie or a Disney+ show, not sure.

This was the best Evil Dead movie since Oz the Great and Powerful. By the way, watch the Evil Dead series if you haven't yet.
As a long time Marvel reader I loved this movie. It was true to the characters. My DC reading friends disliked it.
