Yes. Seems the way of the future. Just does not make sense rebuild a lot of parts , rather just replace with new. Thank you for the feedback as always.
Thank you for actually showing the removal of the upper bolts itnmight seem trivial which is why other cut it out but I was beating my with a 4lb hammer and they didn't move so I was wondering if there was a trick I didn't know about.
interesting idea how you lift the suspension up to tighten the upper control arm. It makes sense to do that. I'm curious how to best approach this... in a while I plan to install a leveling kit on my Ram. Mines a 2016, 4th gen. The parts are a little different but the concept is pretty similar. I'm installing a coil spacer, new upper control arms and shocks. So the geometry will change while its off the ground, the 19 5/8" trick will not work. I suppose I could tighten it all up, let it down to the ground, take a quick measure of the new center distance then lift it back up and try to adjust using the same steps but for the new center point...
Curious about the whole 19 and 5/8ths deal so I’m getting ready to replace the front end entirely on a truck I just got on trade and was wonder if the measurements are really needed if you take to alignment shop isn’t that what they do? I understand that things can wear faster but i don’t plan on driveling the truck untill everything is properly alligned just curious if this would be fine and save some time?
Thats a great question . I always set them this way or tighten them if able with weight on the suspension. It is very likely they loosen them and readjust them but I set them nevertheless as a rule of thumb. Thanks for the feedback.
yes sir,i got an 06 ram 1500 4x4 5.7. its my work truck i drive it 40miles a day everyday. it pulls to right bad. i know it needs fixed. i know probably everup there needs fixed bit i go to get an alignment from a place in Carlisle ohio called phils auto . pretty good guys there. i drop it off at lunch,im a bricklayer ,pick it up after work. they say ,and i agree,i need lower ball joints $687,upper front control arms $959,steering rack and pinion $897 stablizerlink kit $375 ..so my question is what needs done 1st. bc i cant afford to do all this at once. in ur opinion whats most important ball joints? and upper control arms ?? and do u think theyd let me bring my own parts? bc i followed ur link and parys were more than half as cheap. anyways hope u see this thank you sir
If I were hiring it out , I would probably tackle the lower ball joint and upper control arms , and tell them I am bringing my own parts. It might void their warranty or something but their prices are steep. I am going to share another video with you , so if you decide to tackle this yourself. Thank you for the feedback. ua-cam.com/video/_3uL88BoUps/v-deo.html
i didnt have a torque wrench i just went really tight then a hair more for comfort however mine was loose on passenger i was just getting it closer til i buy new ones. just bought the truck.
You will have to buy the upper and lower ball joint kit. You will also need to buy the bushing kit . Basically you will be rebuilding it. If yours is destroyed then youd need to get a used one as far as I know. Hope this helps.
@@s33therfan thanks. I'll try a junk yard search...and if no, I think someone good at welding could repair it. I put new bushings in even though it's damaged right where they sit.
Thrust changes from a small ball. Good afternoon. Dear, I have a question for you. My car is GMC Acadia SLT1 AWD 2008 mileage 158024 miles. I changed the oil to Liqui Moly Moligen 5w30. Now the mileage is 161050. I keep the oil level in the middle of the mark. I topped up 1.5 liters of oil for 3026 miles. It is normal for this engine, or the oil is not of high quality. Now I will change to Ac Delco. Good luck to yo.👍👍👍😊
It seema common for these to use a little oil. The liquid moly I hear is pretty good , I think you are keep great maintenance on it. The biggest issue with the acadias and like , is the oil sludging problems. Maybe running some sea foam just before changing the oil might help with some. Thanks as always for the feedback.
@@s33therfan Thanks for the feedback. I follow the cars I have such a character, and I especially like American-made cars. Good luck, you are doing well.
does anyone know a part number for the upper control arm bolts. Mine are rusty and trying to make sure I order the correct replacement ones. 2002 dodge ram 1500
This is the best I can do. Otherwise youd be going to the dealership $$$. , Might check salvage yards. Really any grade 8 bolt that size and length with a lock nut will get it done. Check these out and compare them , if they don't work , worse case return it. Hope this can help. amzn.to/48K0YH6
I had to cut the bottom the bolt to get the puller on there shit sounded like a gun shot when it gave. Air hammer pickle fork and the torch got me no where
it's pretty crazy that the ball joint alone can cost more or less the price of the whole control arm .👍🏻

Also less work to swap the whole control arm in my personal opinion.

That should work great , thanks for the feedback.
Heating up the knuckle really helped me with breaking all the OEM stuff free
Great tip. Thank you.
Torque spec on pivot bots once raised with jack140lbs RWD?
Hey guys, I just jacked up the wheel until the upper control arm looked relatively flat and it just popped right out. Maybe that helps.

13/16s also works or did on mine if you dont have a 21
it wouldve move out just use something to pry and hold and tighten it watch your brake line
Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching.
Do you have to support the suspension because mine is down and not up like that..
Could you tell a difference in the ride? My 01 with 375xxx miles rides like a log wagon
Mine was so worn out it felt like a new truck again. Thanks for watching.

I commend you for working on rusty suspension , suspension work is bad enough without the added rust. Thanks for the feedback.
@@s33therfan I had to sawzall them out and buy new ones. Thanks for making your video. It helped to see your techniques.
Same in the U.P. of Michigan. It's always my biggest problem.
Why not use anti seize

Do you have an air hammer pickle fork ?
Those work nice
Lmao why remove it.. sawsalll!!
