My First Car! 1971 Dodge Demon 340 Walkaround with Special Guest Hudson D!

- I bought my 1971 Dodge Demon when I was 15 for $3350 and it absolutely changed my life. I invited my buddy Hudson over to go over the car, fix a couple things, and take it out for some fun. Hudson's an incredible kid, who is on his 3rd heart after 2 transplants and just wanted to come down and have a day in the shop. It was great day telling stories, turning wrenches and burning tires.

You're a rad dude Tony. You have probably made a big impact to a little guy that's been dealt a rough hand so far
Just helping out where I can, a little bit.
@@StayTunedTA That smile on Hudson's face. Bro.
Hit the "Like" button at 1:03 . Well done, Tony.
Yep, 2 heart transplants at his age? Wow. Nice job Tony, you’re a good dude.
Man, two heart swaps!? Both lucky and unlucky all at the same time. Best of luck to the little dude...he has a good mentor.
Yo what’s up I’m his brother I just wanna say thanks. Just wanna say thank you guys so much for the support. It’s been rough with his heart but he is ok now.
I am blown away that 4+ years I remember seeing you and Finnegan in a picture with this kid, and here you are wrenching with this young man. Bravo Tony, you're a good man! Miss u on HRG but love what you're doing on your own.
That was great of you to include him in this!
It was my pleasure, he's a great kid, total car lunatic.
I'm 63 years old.......50 ish years ago- I was *that* kid living in York PA.
I hung out at my local garage, helped the owner and his son clean up their shop and helped clean up their 64 Nova they took to York US 30 every summer weekend.
They paid my admittance every weekend.....I shoulda been paying them for all the good memories I have of those times.
It's cool ....no *extremely* cool that you are doing the same thing 50 years later.
It's what hot rodding is all about.
Loved this video... reminds me of me and my son.
Hudson: "It never hurts to be too safe"
Tony: "Remember that when we're driving later"
Gave me a good chuckle.
Geez , This reminds me of a time I helped a Kid Out 40 Years ago rebuild his bike , Little did I know he was really sick . Not Quite cars but , Same concept and the same Amount of caring and Love ! HAT`S OFF TO YA BROTHER .......... WE ALL SURE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ! Just One Step At A Time ................
If you are in a position to make someone's day better, you should do it!
Go Hudson!
He's the best.
You got a big heart Tony ❤️ what you are doing for Hudson is really special and not enough people in your position take the time to give back. Ya made my day 🙏 keep smashing that skinny pedal 💪
I appreciate that. Happy to have him out!
Thanks
Hudson standing by with his hands in his pockets provide the moment when this video reached the triple likes status. Thanks for bringing in a ringer to make this the best episode ever.
I love it Tony, this is the stuff that kids remember and ignit a passion for cars
Your awesome dude. Best Big Brother EVER!
Ha, maybe more like Uncle, but I'll take it!
@@StayTunedTA Hey there's already a guy called uncle Tony. Lol
Awesome video brother! You’re making a huge difference in his life and that’s all that matters!
Just happy to have him out for the day, it was really fun on my end.
Man Tony I love that you are doing that for that kid. I’m sure he will never forget it and it is truly heartwarming. Keep it up to both of you!
The thing I really appreciated Tony was that you were talking to Hudson, and not the camera. That really says a lot about your character because you were legit there for him, and not the subscribers. Props man, this was a great episode.
This is why I put a giant door to the alley on my shop when I built it. I was the kid with no gearheads in my life, and wanted nothing more than to find a guy who would show me the basics. I remember letting the air out of my bike tires to have a guy in town fill them my dad knew. That was my in to get him to let me watch him build motorcycles, cars, and jeeps. Everyone with an ounce of knowledge about working on old junk or building new gems should do everything in their power to teach the kids who show interest. We love these things because we look at them the same way people look at art. They hold no value unless we give them value. Keep up the good work brother. Proud to have a Tangelo sticker on my tool box.

The face he made was hilarious. He knows he's special lol.
From personal experience I know the kind of encouragement and time you shared with Hudson can have a huge impact on his view of the world. There are many more kids who would benefit from our help, Hudson is very lucky.
Your interactions with Hudson are hilarious! Loved your video. It should have 5 million views.
Hudson seems like such a great kid! I hope he gets his Aventador and drives the wheels off of it.
So happy you're back in pa man! Hope you have a blast making this awesome content and spending time with the family. Hey Hudson you kick ass little man!
We have absolutely having a blast here! thanks for supporting!
As someone who just had a heart attack and had to have a minor operation, I can say that this kid is a gd hero for going through all of that twice already and still be there with a smile on his face.
Thanks Sir... exactly what I needed to remember we are all here for a reason... Help out your fellow man. Just awesome. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
Very cool show with the kid, nice job Tony, your the man.
Thanks 👍 ! Happy to do it!
Heart warming Tony. You are extraordinary. Hudson is awesome as well. Yall make a great team!
I just love how that works; you do a burnout and instantly everyone is smiling.
That boy will be building 600, 700, 1000HP Engines when he grows up all because of what you guys showed him. He will never forget that! Mad Respect, fellas!
Props for having him help with engine work harder than just quickie topside stuff like plug wires!
Miss you on motortrend, do get why you left but would of liked seeing you with Fin on dragweek again.
Appreciate it! I think I'll get to do some stuff with Finn soon.
This video is already very cute. You're a good guy Tony.
Thanks! Hudson is a champion, we were just having fun. His face at the end, I was so stoked.
@@StayTunedTA Finished now, Hudson is a great kid for sure and that car is so good I'm glad everyone had a good time (ignoring the momentary oil pressure scare at the end!)
@@crisprapper Thanks! Yeah I think I need a proper road race pan if I'm gonna be stunting all over the place with it.
You’re the man Tony! Made that boy so happy, you see him loosen up over the course and came alive
Keep it going brother! love this content, SUV to demon....
Thanks! I don't think we will do anymore SUV stuff for awhile, it's gonna be Hot Rod season.
Tony, thank you for making a difference in Hudson’s life. He will never forget this.
Awesome shit! Hudson will always remember his work days!
Hope so, I sure will.
Tony Angelo is my new hero!! Mad props to you dude for spending precious time with that young man. Would be cool to see more shop time with Hudson. Good job young man!!
Way to go Tony there’s no better way to keep the younger generation interested you have become a mentor thumbs up to you 👍
The patience you have with Hudson. Just wow. It’s hard for me with my own daughter sometimes and I’m sure it can be for you but times like these are what I aspire to with my girl❤
Lots of win in this episode.
It was a really fun one!
I don't know if Hudson or his dad was smiling more!
You have my respect for talking to that young man in such a kind and adult manner. Children get doted on and im sure in his position its much harder than normal to have a conversation with an adult as an equal. Thank you for sharing this.
that boy will never ever forget what you did for him good on you guys
Watching Hudson blow that hardware off the pan was hilarious. Awesome! Good times!
God bless you, Tony! You’re doing things right.
Great car !!! It wasn’t my first car, but my 1972 Demon was my first New car. !!! Hemi Orange. 50 years later, I still got her !!!
This warms the cockles. I have no clue what cockles are, but they're warm. Little dude was having a ball working on the Demon with Tony. You won't convince me Tony wasn't having the same amount of fun.
When I was your boys age, those were the cars that were on the road. Challengers, Chargers, Firebirds, Camaros, Cudas and so on were all new. There was a Plymouth Superbird I’d see around town and my neighbor had an OLDS 442. Those were the days.
TA you are the man. letting little buddy come by hang out and turn some wrenches on your first car. best one it the fleet in my opinion! cant wait to see the firebird on the road. keep rocking!!
Good job Hudson, keep wrenching.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL boys.
Tony the way you dealt with that little guy was awesome. Good on ya man!!!
This is the best car you own IMO, just love it, the green paint is killer. My grandmother bought a 73 Duster new, she was so proud cause it was the first new car she bought on her own. Her car only had a Auto trans as the only option, man brakes, no radio no power steering. She had it painted once, had the seats redone once, put 260K on it before she took it off the road and gave it to her mechanic ( it was burning oil ) in the mid 90's, she told me she didn't want me to get it cause she thought I would destroy it.
Awesome stuff. ☺️
Here you go passing the torch to the next generation.
My first car was a brown 1965 Ford Falcon station wagon that my HS friends nicknamed “The Cockroach”.
Good times 😜
You made that little mans day TA, so nice to see him smile after all he's been through. You dad and Hudson, all legends!
Awesome car. I totally get why you love it so much. More people need to let young folks hang out with them in the garage. That's how we raise the next generation of gearheads.
I think that it's great that you are taking the time to get him hands on with your car just show that you are a real man. There are so many people that won't take the time to do that anymore that's how I learned to work on cars was hands on from my big brother the world needs more people like you
You're a good egg. Kid looked like he was so happy to be chillin with you.
This nova is my first car. 35 years this October.1987 my dad bought it for me for my 15 birthday.
As someone who had open heart surgery I thank you for doing that for Hudson
I had a 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus I bought in 1974 that had the houndstooth buckets in it. Surprisingly they were very comfortable compared to the vinyl ones when it was hot or very cold. I wish it had been a Roadrunner instead but the insurance would have been cost prohibitive when I was 18.
They are super cool, not sure you can get them reproductions but I love the houndstooth. I was after a 72 Roadrunner 340 4 speed car pretty bad when I bought my demon. I couldn't afford it at probably 5k
I had a 71 Satellite too when I was 18 - 24, put a 340 & a 4 speed in it, big tires & slots. I dream of having another really bad
Awesome job Tony! You can tell that Hudson has a real interest and love for muscle cars! I was always at my dad's side whenever he worked on cars from age 4 until I went to college and many times afterwards. He taught me so much. I rebuilt my first engine, a 383 magnum for a far too rusty 1970 Super Bee, with his help. He was also a great painter having worked as one for International Harvester for 30 years. We did the body work and repainted several cars including a 1966 Plymouth Sport Fury, a 1974 Duster 360, a 1986 Omni GLH Turbo and a 1969 Dodge Super Bee. As a kid, having someone to guide me that was so patient, understanding, and knowledgeable has paid dividends and made me confident to tackle not only cars but life itself. I'm 49 and lost my dad last December, but everything thing he taught me lives on. Every kid needs a kind mentor. ❤
As the father of a heart patient kid...thanks for doing this Tony!
My first car was a 78 ford mustang II. The least popular mustang of the group with the big 2.3 inline 4.
Still a decent car to have around these days!
Tony, I’m a little late to comment. My mom had a heart transplant. The journey is crazy. Thanks for giving this kid some of your time.
I hope to teach some kido’s some stuff! My 2yr old is always interested in what im doing and hangs out with me while i work. She’ll jump in here and there.
You built a Tony proof car. You didn't break it and you made that kids day. Good work!
Your awesome guy, I am sure he will never forget today.😁👍👍👍
Great job at mentoring a future gearhead! Oddly enough, I've kept my 71 340 Demon since I was in Jr High back in 73!👍 Best wishes!
That kid will NEVER forget that launch, Tony. I know because my first launch was in a '70 340 4-speed Dart when I was 10 and I never forgot it! Sitting in the back seat just like Hudson. God bless you for making that kids life.
I had a 71 Demon in my younger days. It was a 340 car but had a 360 in it when I bought it. That car was a blast to drive and did burnouts for days. I had to let it go when I got married due to the fact that my wife would have killed herself driving that car. A year ago I picked up another 71 Demon that was in rough shape and needed a ton of work. I made a few passes at the drag strip and the 318 was pretty sad. At the moment I'm finishing up a Hemi install and should be back driving it in another week. You have a nice car Tony, glad you hung on to it!
This is what bored kids with common sense used to do, before video games.
By the time u were 12, you could drive, crash and swap an engine out of your go cart.
Great to see this Tony!
All the kids in the housing complex where my cousin lives always come to him to get their bikes fixed up whenever the chain comes off or whenever they wanna raise their seat
Wat’s up Hudson high five 🙌 buddy
TWO heart transplants at that age? Poor kid! Thanks for making his day, week, year.
OUTSTANDING. Nice ride.
❤🙏 for the little man.
Im a cold hearted bastard. But it warmed my black heart to see you doing this for the kid. I still remember kindness that was showed to me as a child and it influences me many decades later. We should all do what we can for youngsters! You have my respect.
Thanks for watching! Sorry we made you feel stuff for a min!
Awesome Tony, you made that kids day. I love it.
That was awesome of you to include him.
Your the man tone. Moments like this can positively impact someone for the rest of their life and most importantly you did it with authenticity. You probably always return your shopping cart too I bet.
Very cool what you did for this kid.
Great Video Tony, I loved it at 15:53 in video, "Been Waiting All Day", tell Hudson that's a great T-shirt & he did a great job helping.
What a cute kid. Tough as nails. God bless him. Absolutely a day he'll never forget.
Thanks for the Video.... Good on you for including that young man in your Video/Work.... He will remember you doing this for him and believe me it really does make a difference...Regards.....
Didn't think I'd like this channel even more then I already do. Tony you are a great dude for being who you are. This was a great episode. Keep up the fire work. I'm hook to this channel can't wait for the next one
Thanks! Cutlass this week!
AWESOME. My first car was a 73 Dodge Dart Sport 318 with the super rare factory sunroof that was nearly half the size of the roof. Got it with 43K original miles from my Grandmother after it sat in her driveway my whole childhood (My grandad dided before I was born and she didn't drive). I loved that car espescially while everyone else was driving Honduhs and Nissans etc. I had a V8 muscle car and I did everythibg I coukd to make it a _REAL_ muwcle car. Magnum heads off a FI 318 of the time (early 90s) 4bbl carb, super rare Mopar cop-car steel wheels... evebtually sold it to a guy who collects Mopars here in the PNW and its still running around today.
My first car was a 1972 Demon. Bought it when i was 14 and wish i still had it today. Parted it out due to the fram rails going up to the engine bay being rusted out.
Loved the ending... "Yep, checks out". Great smile on Hudson's face.
I want to be Hudson when I grow up!
Hahah, he is pretty cool.
Tony, you fricken rock dude. Hudson keep on keepin on!
Ya'll taking the oil pan off was great. You got a good soul, Tony. Much love from Mesa Az. 🤙🏻🤟🏻
That kid got to ride in my dream car so jealous 😂.
Hey bro what a cool dude you’re an awesome dad/friend/teacher! Wish my dad was this way!
Awesome video Tony!!! Your the man!!!
Thanks 👍 Had a blast on this shoot.
I wish I had a performance parts company, I would sponsor the hell out of Tony. You're a good man.
My first car was a 63 Plymouth valiant 2dr. Typical little old lady barn find. Sold it 30 years ago but I know where it sits today and I’m trying to buy it back and do a Roadkill or VGG style revival.
That would be awesome! You only get one first car!
To this guy, you got to be the old man who knew way more than he ever thought possible, who was patient and helpful. A startlingly large portion of young men never had anyone around like that. Good work.
I love Mopars. I had a 71 Demon with a slant six in it. Of course, I was an idiot and blew the engine and let the car go in 1990. Now, I want to kick my own butt.
Yes, that is the correct feeling.
Now, I am looking for a short box D100 from 74-80. I loved those trucks when I was younger. I'd like to do a 4 link coilover 8 3/4 rear end with a custom front end with rack and pinion. Also, coilovers. I torn between a LA 360 or Gen III Hemi. Just a dream of mine.
Dream big little man! the Lamborghini Aventador might come down in price, by the time you start driving.. this is the thing that warms the hearts of almost any of us car guys/gals. Are the youngins wanting to get into cars.
Paesan you have done beautiful work here with this young man.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 bravo
Thanks!
You are the man Tony,we'll done sir!!!
Loved it glad you made this kids day. Hope your girls are doing well.
🤝 Tony... a big Hello to Hudson and greetings from northern Alberta Canada 👍
Late to the party I know but having grown up with a heart condition and a love for cars seeing you take the time to explain and teach this young boy 😢😢❤ what a absolute hero of a man great role model can’t praise you enough
